These are INSANELY spicy. I grew up in Korea, had tteokbokki as a child, have had it many more times since then at restaurants and street fairs... None of them have been anywhere NEAR as spicy as these were. I'll try again using only half the flavoring pack, but YIKES...

I'm a huge rice fan, and I don't know whether this is "authentic" Tteokbokki flavour, but I love it! I've only ever tried Tteokbokki twice from a local small Korean fast food place (after being curious seeing it eaten in practically every K-drama I've watched), but this microwave version has a similar taste profile, and is super convenient to just heat and eat when I'm feeling lazy. Pretty happy with this tteokbokki. It is shelf stable and very quick and easy to prepare for a snack any time. Each cup contains several rice cakes as well as a seasoning powder. You only need to add water and microwave for a couple minutes. You get a delightfully chewy texture from the rice cakes and the sauce offers a well balanced sweetness and spiciness that is sure to satisfy. Although the price is slightly high, I definitely appreciate the convenience it provides for the quality of the rice cakes and sauce. It is easy to store in the pantry and helps save precious freezer space. • The texture of the rice cakes is described as chewy, and the flavor is characterized as spicy and sweet, although some customers find the spiciness level to be too intense.
