I’ve been using the Insta360 X4 Air and overall I’m seriously impressed. The 360 capability is the biggest game changer. Being able to capture everything around you and reframe the shot later takes so much pressure off trying to get the angle in the moment. Whether I’m riding, traveling, or just messing around, I don’t have to think about camera positioning. I just hit record and focus on the experience. The stabilization is insanely good. Footage comes out smooth even when things get a little rough, and the invisible selfie stick effect makes shots look clean and professional without needing advanced editing skills. The resolution is sharp, the colors look solid, and exporting and reframing in the app is way easier than I expected. Battery life has been solid for my use, and the overall build feels durable without being bulky. It is easy to mount and does not feel like it is in the way. I’m really glad I got the package with an extra battery though I haven’t even touched it. If I had one complaint, it would be low light performance. In good lighting this camera really shines. But once the sun goes down or you are in dim conditions, you start to notice some loss in clarity and extra noise. It is usable, just not as strong as it is during the day. Overall, if you want versatility, strong stabilization, and the ability to capture everything without worrying about framing, the Insta360 X4 Air delivers. Just give it good lighting and it will make you look good.

I’m not a professional camera guy at all. I bought the Insta360 X4 Air mostly for motorcycle stuff, but over Christmas I ended up using it for regular videos too—and yeah, this thing is legit. First off, it just works. It plays nice with my DJI Mic Mini, which was huge for me. Toss it in my camera bag, grab it when I need it, no drama. It’s small, light, and doesn’t feel fragile. The selfie stick + above-the-head view is honestly way cooler than I expected. It gives you angles you just can’t get with a normal camera, and the stabilization is wild. You don’t think about framing—just hit record and deal with it later. The app is actually easy to use (rare these days), and the footage looks way better than it has any right to for something this small. I bought it for riding, but now it’s one of those devices I just keep grabbing because it’s convenient and fun. If you’re not a camera nerd and just want something that works, packs small, and gets great shots, this thing punches way above its weight.

Yea… what is there to say? I love my insta360 cameras, and this one takes the cake! Recording on it is fun as all hell. Battery life could be a little longer but have some spares and swap as needed. A portable charger keeps you rotating them out. I have it set to 4k/48fps and it’s perfect for what I need. Chances are if you’re looking for a 360 cam, you’ve already looked at these… come back, look again, and add one to your line up.

After taking the Insta360 X4 Air to the mountain this ski season, I’ve captured a ton of footage — enough to really understand what this camera does well and where it still needs work. I compared it extensively with the X5 and DJI’s newest 360 camera before buying, and the X4 Air ultimately won for two reasons: lighter weight and supposedly better software integration than DJI’s ecosystem. On paper, that combination made it the best choice for skiing. What I Learned After Real Use on the Mountain - Not the easiest gadget to operate. I’m very tech‑savvy, and I still had to watch just about every tutorial online to feel comfortable using it. This isn’t a pick‑up‑and‑go device yet — there’s a learning curve. - Editing takes a long time. The “shoot first, frame later” concept is great, but the reality is that editing 1–2 hours of skiing footage every day takes a lot of time. The AI one‑key edit works to an extent, but it’s not very useful for producing clean, intentional videos. The software still has a long way to go. - Great perspectives once you get the hang of it. Being able to switch between first‑person, third‑person, and group shots is genuinely fun. For skiing with friends, this is where the camera shines — you can capture everything without thinking about framing in the moment. - Still too heavy for all‑day helmet mounting. Even though the Air is the lighter version, it’s still too heavy to comfortably wear on top of a helmet all day. It’s doable for shorter sessions, but not something I’d leave mounted for hours. Why I Still Think It’s Worth It Despite the quirks, the X4 Air really is an all‑in‑one action camera. It can replace multiple cameras and gives you angles and footage you simply can’t get with a traditional action cam. The invisible selfie stick, replaceable lenses, and FlowState stabilization all work together to create footage that looks far more dynamic than anything from a single‑lens camera. Bottom Line The Insta360 X4 Air is powerful, flexible, and capable of producing incredible ski footage — but it’s not idiot‑proof, and the editing workflow is still time‑consuming. If you’re willing to learn the system and spend time editing, it’s a fantastic all‑in‑one action cam. If you want something effortless, this isn’t there yet. For me, the lighter weight and better software ecosystem made it the right choice over the X5 and DJI, but it’s definitely a camera you grow into rather than one you master on day one.
