I bought this inflator about a month ago and yesterday I got my first flat since deciding to carry this Elite Inflator instead of my hand pump. I've had to change/repair MANY flats in the last 3 months and trying to pump a 700c x 23 to 110-130 psi can be exhausting with a small hand pump. Anyway, I went on a short ride to the Metro rail and while riding the train, I noticed my front tire was flat (I checked the tire pressures before I left home @ 120psi). I recently purchased this vintage Nishiki Tri-A and the tires and tubes looked to be over 10 years old. When I dismounted the tire, the old rubber rim strip had split, which I was expecting as I had replaced the rear rim strip awhile back so I carried a new rim strip, new tube, tire levers and my CO2 Inflator w/2 16 gram cylinders. Was in a hurry, so I didn't want to bother with a patch as I didn't have any water nearby and didn't want to use the Inflator to test for the leak, so that is a con for the Inflator. Installed the new strip, installed the new tube and remounted the tire and hit it with the CO2 Inflator. Awesomeness! In 10 seconds, my tire was filled... I didn't use up quite all the gas, but I should have... When I got home, I checked the tire pressure and it was at 110psi, so if I had used every bit of the gas, maybe it would have hit 115psi, certainly within the pressure range of my tires. With my old hand pump, to go from 100 psi to 110 psi takes about 100 pumps and I've often needed a few minutes of rest after pumping up a tire... This inflator works great, it is so much faster and is so convenient and easy to use. I bought a box of 25 cartridges for about $30 which is way less than the bike shops, so it costs me a bit over a buck to fill a new tube with this inflator. For the ease of use it is well worth it in my book! Of course they are so much smaller than a pump as well but I don't know about weight savings as I'm now going to start carrying 3 cylinders with me. I used mine on a Presta valve, but looking at the mouth of the Elite Inflator, it should certainly work with Schrader valves as well. I always carry a daypack so I always bring my tool kit and tire kit, but my little behind the saddle bag can also hold my inflator, 2 cylinders, levers and spare tube. Oh, use the included rubber sleeve as the cylinder gets freezing cold when used.

I ride 150-200 miles a week, and have punctured tires more often than I would have liked. This thing has gotten me home every time. It's perfect, esp. for serious road riders who want as little weight/wind resistance (and dorkiness) as possible, and who know that you don't need a 1500cc rack bag to hold a bunch of tools you'll never need. If your bike is properly maintained, you'll only need the essentials: inflator; cartridge; spare tube. This set-up is small (everything just fits into a minimalist under-saddle bag). It's ultra lightweight, with simple/sturdy construction, and is easy to use. But be sure to stagger the output in short 'bursts', esp. with the larger, 20g cartridge re: road (19-28mm) tubes, as it might be too much volume. It could blow the tire off the rim or even blow the tube itself. Also, the cartridge body gets cold--really cold when it's in use. GI makes a larger, more expensive model that comes with a sort of holster/hand grip, for this reason. Highly recommended.

After having this inflator in my bag for a while (a year or 2) I finally came to the point where I got a flat and needed to use it. When I went to use it, blew apart as other reviewers have stated. However, the company has a lifetime guarantee that they stand behind. After emailing them, not only did they quickly send me a new inflator but also threw in some additional extra CO2. After the experience I had the first time I decided to burn through another CO2 to test the new inflator and it worked great. I have a feeling there was a design flaw which has since been resolved. The inflator is easy to use and works easily on both Presta and Schrader valves. Because of the quality of the replacement unit as well as the great customer service from Genuine Innovations, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this inflator to anyone.

I went to use this for the 1st time and it left me stranded. As soon as I applied pressure to the valve it blew the o-ring out of the chuck rendering it useless. Do not count on this saving you from a flat tire!!! Of course I’ve already had this for several months so I can’t return it ☹️

This thing is well made, very compact, and quite easy to use. Works on both Presta & Schraeder with no changes or switching anything around. You can buy cylinders in bulk fairly cheaply (one 16g cylinder is enough to fill one fairly flat 29er tire). One big warning: be sure to wrap the cylinder with a cloth or foam, or wear gloves, while using it. When the compressed gas comes out all at once to fill the tire, the temperature of the cylinder instantaneously goes to like minus-a-gazillion degrees. If you are holding onto the cylinder when this happens, you're going to get a nasty freeze burn.

I ordered this CO2 inflator set a few weeks ago to round out my seat pack flat kit. Unfortunately, it didn't take long until I had to use it. I got a flat just a few days later and everything worked perfectly. It was all very self explanatory and very easy to use and got my new tube inflated in mere seconds. I used the smaller cartridge and it completely filled up my standard road bike tire and there was plenty left. I imagine both cartridges will easily inflate a mountain bike tire as well. This package includes two CO2 cartridges and a converter that screws on to the end of the cartridge when you need to use it. To operate, just screw the converter onto the end of the cartridge and press the end of the cartridge onto the valve. All around, this is a very standard inflator set and is incredibly practical to carry with you on any type of ride.
