  • Incredible performance, incredible value.
Size: 32"-Mini LED-4K-144Hz
Have you always wanted a Asus PG32UQX but thought the $2999 price tag was obnoxious. Well this monitor is 95% as good at less than 1/3 the price (with some caveats). Pros: -Amazing contrast with local dimming enabled and even without, very high native contrast from the IPS panel. Local dimming algorithm is pretty aggressive and always prioritizes contrast rather than suppressing bloom. -Very wide and vivid color gamut results in impressive HDR color volume. -Has a sRGB clamp that is overall well calibrated and accurate and allows brightness adjustment. -HDR performance is top notch, achieves 1140nits on a 10% window and just under 700nits full field. It tracks EOTF well so no black crush or blown out highlights. -VRR/Gsync works incredibly well with no flickering issues. -HDMI 2.1 ports are full 48Gbps bandwidth. -Input lag feels low and the monitor is nice and responsive at 144hz. -Supports USB firmware updates. Cons: -Using HDMI can cause a delay in the monitor coming out of standby when connected to a PC resulting in it sometimes reverting to 1024x768 resolution when waking up. Hopefully this gets fixed with a firmware update. -Local dimming algorithm on the desktop can be rough and causes some visual anomalies. -The panels overall pixel response is rather slow by today's standards (roughly 6.7ms average G2G). -Only a single local dimming setting (on/off) and nothing in-between to suit a users needs. -Monitor OSD is accessed using archaic buttons rather than a joystick and can be cumbersome. -Silver bezel makes it a poor match in multi-monitor setups since the rest of your monitors are likely black. Tips: -Do not buy this monitor if blooming from a full array backlight bothers you. It is inherent to FALD technology and there is no avoiding it with what in reality is a very low mini-led zone count (1152). Come back when 10000+ zone monitors are available. -If it bothers you, disable local dimming for SDR/desktop use and use Win+Alt+B to toggle HDR as necessary which forces local dimming. -Set response time in the gaming sub menu to Ultrafast which is counterintuitive but on this monitor has no negative consequences like inverse ghosting since the overdrive is tuned very conservatively. -When you first enter the OSD, enabling HDR and VRR are necessary to access either feature. -Use the windows SDR content brightness slider to keep brightness in check on your desktop when HDR is enabled. -Use Windows HDR Calibration tool to set brightness values for AutoHDR. My monitor clips right around the 1150 mark. Up until now the only options for a 1000 zone+ 16:9 FALD monitor were the PG32UQX and XG321UG which are exorbitantly priced or the Neo G8 which is aggressively curved, has poor vertical viewing angles, suffers from scanlines at 240hz and is terribly calibrated in HDR. Its now 2023 and Acer and Asus are releasing paltry 576 zone options (Acer X32 FP & Asus PG32UQXR). Half the zone count of this INNOCN for double the price, makes no sense. This may come short of a PG32UQX in peak brightness but given how few HDR games are even mastered beyond 1000nits, its a concession worth accepting given the huge price disparity and the fact that it otherwise is practically on par. For those of us waiting years for an affordable flat 4K 32" FALD monitor, its finally here. ... show more

  • Excellent Gaming Monitor
Size: 32"-Mini LED-4K-144Hz
INNOCN 32" Mini LED 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 This monitor lives up to it's advertised specs: 4K at 144hz with a quality DisplayPort cable and HDR10. For gaming and movies, this thing is great. The HDR10 helps greatly in dark environments instead of looking at a blob of black; you can distinguish things much better with HDR than without. The brightness (nits?) can be crazy high: I had to turn this down b/c when I looked at the sun in several games, it was almost like looking at the real thing....blinding. (Easy to adjust, btw) The colors are bright and vibrant; blacks are very black (though, not as great as an OLED) with some minor bleeding. I'm not a monitor snob, so I can't really compare technical details to other monitors, but this 32in INNOCN is by far one of the best in it's class and I've had a number of good ASUS, Acer and Dell 'gaming' monitors. Refresh rate is great so long as your graphics card can handle it, which means the blurring is significantly reduced. Various monitor settings will help with the lag and blur. Overall I'm very happy with this. Some minor issues to point out: The blooming effect is very noticeable when viewing at an angle, but greatly reduced when looking dead on (as you should be if you're gaming or watching movies); which leads to the next possible issue for some: the viewing angle is really bad. If you plan on having this screen far away or watch at an angle, it's not going to work well. You must be in front and center, and be a few feet away at the most, otherwise the picture will look bad. This issue seems common with this type of tech, unfortunately. Also, Windows does not recognize it as 'G-sync compatible'; not a big deal to me, but your needs may differ. ... show more

  • A great screen that needs more attention to detail
(Updated after about two weeks of use) I have tried this monitor with both a Windows laptop (HP ZBook) and a Macbook Air M1 (pictured). It works well with both. I bought it on a Cyber Monday special at less than $500. While the price is a steal given the technology, it's still a very high price and I would expect a bit more attention to details. THE GOOD 1) It is largely as described, has USB-C, future-proof tech, etc. 2) It has good colors (but please note I'm not an artist or a connoisseur) 3) The blacks are very black. (See photo, described below.) 4) Customer service is very good. The original review mentioned that the light sensor is defective. After posting that, customer service reached out to me and offered to replace the monitor. THE BAD 1) Instructions are almost nonexistent. There are lots of undocumented options. See below for what I figured out so far (some with the help of customer service). 2) Menu is missing some really basic important stuff. For instance, it should be possible to switch source between USB-C and DP with one click, but I could not program the hotkeys to do that. Similarly, the "Auto" source feature is not programmable. A firmware update that solves some of the above problems and a good manual would bring this to 5 stars. DESCRIPTION OF THE PHOTO In the photo you see the great black performance of this monitor. I opened a website that simply does a full-screen black (full black screen dot com), a browser tab on each monitor. All five monitors are on, but the INNOCN looks like it's off. I believe this is what they call local dimming. In the photo you can also see the cool mood lighting from the back, which is programmable from the menu. (Of course, almost undocumented.) The other monitors look very bright because my phone (unfortunately) is very good at taking low-light pictures, lol. With the naked eye the difference is not that dramatic but still pretty impressive. THINGS I FIGURED OUT SO FAR THAT ARE NOT WELL-DOCUMENTED Q: What is "Eyeshield remind"? I tried turning it on and I don't see any difference. A: According to customer service, it is simply a message to take good care of your eyes after the monitor is on for a certain amount of time. Q: How does the "Auto" source feature work? when two sources are active, how does it choose which one is primary? A: There is no way to choose a primary. If the screen is sleeping, when any source sends input to the monitor, that source becomes the primary. If a second source starts sending input, the monitor continues to display the primary. At that point the only way to switch is to go manual. Note, however, that the monitor accepts the input from both sources (so both of my laptops believe they have an external monitor, but I can see it for only one of them). If the monitor is off, I still am not sure how it decides which of the two sources to display when it turns on ... show more
