Frequently asked questions

The Innisfree Retinol Cica Moisture Recovery Serum is formulated to be gentle on the skin, making it suitable for a wide range of skin types including sensitive skin. Its combination of retinol, salicylic acid, and Cica (Centella Asiatica) offers soothing and recovery benefits, which can be particularly beneficial for those with acne-prone, oily, or combination skin as well. However, as with any skincare product containing actives like retinol and salicylic acid, it's recommended to do a patch test first especially if you have very sensitive skin.

To incorporate the Innisfree Retinol Cica Moisture Recovery Serum into your skincare routine, start with a cleansed and toned face. Apply a pea-sized amount of the serum to the face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Since it contains retinol and salicylic acid, it's best to use it during your nighttime routine to avoid sun sensitivity. Always follow up with a moisturizer to lock in hydration and, if used during the day, conclude with a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher.

Yes, the Innisfree Retinol Cica Moisture Recovery Serum can be used daily; however, it's important to monitor your skin's tolerance to retinol and salicylic acid, especially if you are new to these ingredients. Start by applying it a few times a week and gradually increase to daily use as your skin adjusts. If you experience any irritation, such as redness or peeling, reduce the frequency of use. Additionally, consider the rest of your skincare products to avoid over-exfoliation or mixing with ingredients that might react negatively with retinol or salicylic acid.

The main benefits of using the Innisfree Retinol Cica Moisture Recovery Serum include improved skin texture, reduction in acne breakouts, diminished appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and enhanced skin hydration. Retinol helps accelerate skin renewal and reduce signs of aging, salicylic acid aids in exfoliating and clearing pores to reduce breakouts, and Cica calms the skin and helps in recovery and healing. This serum aims to provide a balanced approach to achieving smoother, clearer, and more youthful-looking skin.

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The serum under review garners praise for its hydrating properties and noticeable improvement on lines, wrinkles, and overall skin brightness, tightness, and moisture. It is particularly appreciated for its light texture, easy absorption, and compatibility with sensitive skin, although some users noted a slight redness with frequent use. Despite its benefits, the product's price and issues with the pump feature are noted drawbacks.

Pros

  • 💧 Hydrates skin effectively
  • 👀 Reduces appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • 🌿 Light and non-greasy formula
  • ✨ Brightens and tightens skin
  • 🌞 Suitable for sensitive skin
  • 🔬 Introduction to retinol without harsh effects

Cons

  • 💰 Higher price point compared to similar products
  • 🚫 Some units have a malfunctioning pump
  • 🔴 May cause redness for super sensitive skin

Should I Buy It?

If you are looking for a high-quality serum that improves hydration, reduces signs of aging, and is suitable for sensitive skin, this product is a worthy investment despite its higher price and occasional packaging malfunction. The benefits seem to outweigh the cons, especially if you value noticeable improvements in skin texture and appearance.

  • Gentle retinol that’s perfect for first time users
I’m 36 and I’m starting to see some fine lines on my forehead and neck. I wanted to start incorporating a retinol into my routine, but didn’t necessarily want to go full blast into a high concentration as it can cause your skin to react and peel. With the cica inclusion (my face is prone to redness) and the salicylic acid also in this product, I was interested in trying it out! I had heard it was very gentle and especially great for first time retinol users. It’s been fantastic! It hasn’t caused a negative reaction on my skin and is good for a nightly use (although I use it every other night). I use Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream as my ending moisturizer once this has dried down on my face and it’s such a good combo - I’ve been using it for about two weeks and I definitely see a difference for my fine lines and less breakouts! I only use about one pump for my face and another for my neck. It also helps tone down the patchy redness on my cheeks. I use these guidelines for my own retinol use: - I make sure if I’m going outside I’m using sunscreen (not just relying on makeup sunscreen, ACTUAL sunscreen) - Following that, only use at night! - Make sure you’re looking at the products you’re using already in your routine as retinol may not mix well with some ingredients - Ensure this product is drying down on your skin before finishing with a moisturizer - As with any product, patch test on your skin before incorporating into your routine! I love this brand and very excited to keep this product in rotation! If you want to give retinol a try but aren’t necessarily ready to give a full jump in, I would highly suggest giving this a try. ... show more

  • Gentle and skin softening
This has been a repeat buy for me in terms of skincare. It seems to soften the surface of my skin and diminishes any discoloration I have. It is gentle and doesn’t cause my face to breakout which is such a plus because I can have reactive skin. This brand in general has wonderful products that I believe to be effective and conveniently priced! ... show more

  • Great price-point, does exactly what its supposed to do!
I purchased this for my fiance who has redness and very sensitive skin. It definitely helped with the redness but was not as moisturizing as he had hoped. Not the end of the world though as his primary concern was helping with redness! There is no scent which is great and he has noticed that with continuous use, the redness has been at bay. This product came at a great price-point and does what it's supposed to do. Just use a bit of a heavier moisturizer if you have dryer skin! ... show more

  • Love the brand
This brand is always high quality. It doesn’t really have a scent which I love for my sensitive skin. Retinol products usually leave a burning sensation but not this brand. It does what the serum says it should. Worth the money!

  • Skin Changing Product
I was really in a rut with my skin. I was trying several different products, some Sunday Riley, some Paula’s Choice, etc. Nothing was really Working and my skin was dull and lacklustre and nothing was moisturising enough. This stuff is SO good. I noticed a difference in one week. I use it Morning and night. I have very sensitive skin but this has not made my skin burn or anything. It has no scent. It penetrates deep into the skin so has really worked in brightening, tightening and moisturising my skin. I’ve been using it now for 4 weeks and it’s still working great. I would recommend and now I want to try their other products. ... show more

  • Can’t believe it!
I have a very sensitive skin and have tried other retinol before but always had allergies reaction. With this one I can use it day and night without having any problems. Amazingly surprised! This is what I’m look for this whole life. It makes my skin silky soft and smooth in less than a week and I’m also using it with their green tea set as well. I have heard amazing things about retinol but my sensitive skin doesn’t like any of them until I found this one. I’m so very very happy! ... show more
