  • I received a dirty and used product
I purchased the inkbird Bluetooth thermometer and humidity indicator as a new and unused product, and when my order got here the box it shipped in was perfectly fine and undamaged. The inkbird box inside, however, was a little different. Both tamper evident seals had been sliced and already had some coco coir on it along with some dirty fingerprints, and when I opened the box the manual and the thermometer itself also showed signs of being handled before by unwashed hands. This included fingerprints. From an integrity point of view, advertising an item as new and sending a customer a used and dirty product is a pretty foul way of doing business imo and from one business owner/gardener to another you get what you give and reap what you sow so, good luck to you on that. I understand it’s intended to get a little banged up and dirty, but if I wanted it to be like that when I got it I would have purchased a used one. This part of my review is about the principle behind these sorts of ethics and how something like that can have a direct impact on your business. As far as the product itself, once I put the batteries in it took a while to connect to my phone’s Bluetooth. I sat there for a good half hour with my phone right next to it, on top of it, beneath it, tilted towards it at a slight angle, at a -slightly- more slight angle, upside down, facing each other, facing away, you name it. Couldn’t get it to connect. Bluetooth was fully functioning and enabled, etc. I felt like Hansel in Zoolander when they can’t find the files “in the computer”. Like, WHY is this so difficult?? It shouldn’t be this difficult. Is it me? Is it the app? Is this a broken device? Did I get scammed?? Am I going to have to return this?? I just want a little thermometer to tell me how my greenhouse is doing! Ugh. I gave up and took a breath, came back to it one last time and laughingly said “watch it just mysteriously connect this last time” and somehow it did. Didn’t do anything different, it just decided to connect. So whatever, at least I have it connected now, and I got a bit of a laugh out of it, yeah? Well now onto the functionality itself. The readings it gives me are, for the most part, accurate enough. I don’t need it to have marksman precision, I just want to be able to check on my garden temperatures without having to drop what I’m doing and go find out, and I just need it reliable and close enough to see and know that my plants aren’t freezing or burning. The humidity indicator is a bit skewed though. But at least I know this and I can keep this in mind when I get the readings. All this to say, I would feel it would be more worth the money if I felt I was receiving the brand new product I initially paid for. I prefer buying secondhand/used and I don’t like buying brand new things if I can avoid it, but with devices like this I do buy new. I’m likely a one-off scenario, and I don’t usually go out of my way to write reviews like this, but I was really disappointed in the condition of the product I got. It was a little gift for myself and it was already tampered with? But hey, it does work. ... show more

  • Requires Calibration.
The Inkbird IBS-TH2 so far is a good product at a very good price. Wish i bought the one with digital display. I gave the “Accuracy” rating low marks since my unit required calibration. It was 2 degrees off to the plus side. I am pleased it has a means to calibrate (add an offset) in the app.The manual should cover calibration. Many devices miss having a calibration feature. I was disappointed since with the electronics these days being so good it either should not require calibration or been factory calibrated with certified equipment. Yes I would buy another. Update... Been using the Inkbird IBS-TH2 for a few weeks. I’m a little disapointed it does not have a feature to switch from 24 hr format to 12 hr format for time stamps. ... show more

  • Great device for the price! And great tool for homebrewers.
As a homebrewer, I've always wanted to know what the temperatures were in my garage where I store my fermenter inside of a fridge. With this handy device, I finally know! Pros: + Range is strong! The device is in the back of my garage and yet I can access it while inside my house using my phone from several rooms away. + The app is simple to use. + Can export data as CSV. Cons: - On my Samsung Galaxy S10+, I have the font size set to one step larger than the default. Doing this causes the text in the Engbird app to wrap or get cut-off completely. See attached photos. The app needs to compensate for various font size/styles. Temporary workaround: rotate phone to landscape mode. But doing that only show 2-3 rows of info at a glance. - The internal magnet is very weak. I can't even stick it to the side of my all-steel tool chest without it sliding down. - I wish there were "15" and "20" minute intervals in the Engird app. It jumps from 10 to 30. - Changing the interval in the Engbird app will erase all historical data. Recommended? Absolutely yes! I now know how hot/cold it gets inside my garage on any given day/week/month so I can decide whether it is the best place to keep my fermenter. It's currently fluctuating between a low of 51F at 8am and a high of 75F at 5pm. Very helpful! ... show more

  • It's mediocre at best...
I have many other brand temp sensors but I got this Inkbird sensor so I could see how it compared, because Inkbird has room temp range sensors with external probes (many others do not) and Inkbird software allows the sampling interval to be adjusted to as short as 15 seconds (another popular brand is fixed at 1 min. intervals). Bluetooth range & connection reliability on this Inkbird sensor is noticeably worse than similar Govee sensors. The software usually does retrieve the data from the sensor but it also fails sometimes, even when the sensor is only a couple feet away. Also, it takes about twice as long as the similar Govee sensors I also have. The accuracy is not as good either (uncalibrated, it was off by about 2°F at room temp. compared to several meters/thermometers known to be accurate, and I haven't checked it at other temps yet). The only (sort of) bright spot is the "engbird" software is significantly simpler than the Govee Home app, which IMO has too many bells & whistles for just monitoring temperature. I haven't decided yet whether I'll try a different Inkbird sensor or just send this one back. ... show more
