RAW POWER. This is one beefy impact wrench. Also, I'm already invested in DeWalt 20V lithium ion batteries so rather than buying this with the battery and charger I bought an adapter. And it works *great*.

I did comparison test, Milwaukee 1/2" 4ah battery, maybe a little more powerful and less weight, Seems like the Milwaukee hits harder than Snap-on 1/2" which did a good job, battery unknown. . Test was using this IR with 3.5ah battery took longer, but did the job, now with the IR with 5ah did better. There is a IR High torque 1/2 in the shop, not tested, but does remove lug nuts, doesn't tighten tighten to 5oo ft lbs tho. ,others will. This test was on semi Lug Nuts. Most diffidently get 5ah batteries. This IR is heavy with 5ah and socket. ... show more

I bought this for a step up from my W7152-K22 kit I bought two years ago. I have not been happy with the W8171 and am not sure if I managed to get a clone/fake or if its just a turd unit. Things I have noticed compared to the W7152 - Slower hammer rate - Less power - Less build quality - Bigger - W8172 has waaaay better battery life, almost as if it isn't using much In several test I have done with lug nuts, I have found the W7152 smokes the W8171 I received. They both will do the job, but the W8171 makes you second guess if it will get the lug nut off Within 2 wheels, 16 lug nuts, the W8171 was coming apart in the center of the grip, chassis was flexing as well. I had to tighten the screws to draw it back together. My W8171 also has a battery draw issue. If you leave the battery on the unit, it will be below 1 light after 2 days. I can leave the battery on the W7152 for a month and it not drop any. Unfortunately I was beyond my return window by the time I used it. More concerning on the fake thought. Upon typing this review I went back to get the name of where it shipped (as I had already checked before) and found now it is just "Shipped by: Other" whereas I know it had a seller name before. ... show more

Powerful & hefty tool. Excellent build quality. Ring light is one of the best I've seen on a modern-day tool. Unfortunately, the box does not include the tethering hardware. I would like IR to come out with a bigger battery, I think the 5ah isn't sufficient for something this insanely powerful.
