  • Reactionless 1/2 Inch Ingersoll Rand Air Ratchet
Size: 1/2" Drive - 2025MAX Style: Wrench
I saw this tool back in the 1970s when they were selling for around $400. It's a 1/2 inch pneumatic reactionless air ratchet by Ingersoll Rand, an industrial professional tool company. So what does this mean? Normally when you are tightening a nut or bolt with a pneumatic wratchet and when it tightens, it tries to spin the wrench and your hand thereby possibly injuring it. This tool senses this motion.and stops the air inside the ratchet thereby saving your hand and wrist from damage and why it's called the reaction less tool. It also.will act like an impact gun whenever you're trying to remove or loosen a stubborn bolt or nut fastener and it won't initially break free. The tool.goes into.a hammering effect and why it's also called an impact wrench. This is one of the most versatile tools that Ingersoll Rand manufacturers today where they offer a 3/8 and a 1/2 inch versions of this tool. Additionally there's rubber covers made for the heads of these tools sold separately. To.install.them, heat them in hot water so they are more pliable, and then slip.them over the tool in place. ... show more

  • Buy it & Love it.
Size: 3/8" Drive - 2015MAX Style: Wrench
First, you're probably wondering why I would give five stars when it broke into 2 pieces and is unrepairable. Well, I purchased the broken one new in July of '14 and this tool doesn't owe me a dime. I've saved so much time and effort with this tool, I was able to respect its quick death, as it literally decapitated it self right in my hand. I've been an automotive tech for nearly 20 years now, and started laughing when this broke as it's definitely a first for me. I did look for replacement parts, however it was the motor housing that split and non replaceable. I love this tool so much that I bought another without question. This by no means a replacement to a regular 3/8 impact, it's meant to be a very welcome addition. I have to say this is by far my most used "specialty" tool. I see reviews for this saying how it has no power, which if used correctly is a false statement in my opinion. No this won't break loose a bolt that requires a 42" breaker bar. It's a cross between an air ratchet and an impact. I use this on anything from wheel bearings to complete motor tear downs. Also, huge time saver for exhaust manifolds, as you don't have to remove wheel well covers on most Chevys. You can save time breaking loose timing cover bolts. Without this I would start by breaking bolts loose with a regular ratchet and then grab my air ratchet to find 1/2 of them want to come out hard, then back to taking them out by hand. I rarely use my air ratchet anymore, so much so that I had a co-worker ask if I purchased a new tool as it "sounded different". No, the dusty 3/8 air ratchet was just getting use as I was waiting for my new 2015MAX. If I were to give advice after seeing it's innards. I would say, don't hold the trigger on a bolt that isn't moving, as I'm going to put my own advice to use. This is when she failed, the bold had just started to move after about 10 seconds, and then POP. If you're a tech on flat-rate or just like working smart and not hard, do yourself a favor ... buy one right now and if used correctly, you will not regret it. ... show more

  • This is a huge timesaver!
Size: 1/2" Drive - 2025MAX Style: Wrench
This impact ratchet is fantastic to use. It easily removes most suspension and transmission bolts in tight spaces. It's nothing like a traditional IR "Max" impact, but is comparable to most compact impacts in terms of raw power. It makes timing cover bolts, motor mount, exhaust studs, etc much easier to remove since you don't need room to swing like a normal air ratchet. Most importantly though, this saves a ton of physical effort, saving your back and arms from abuse. It's a solid tool for the professional, or serious hobbiest and easily better than anything else you can buy from a tool truck. Great! ... show more

  • Tremendous torque. Needs A LOT of air.
Size: 3/8" Drive - 2015MAX Style: Wrench
This ratchet can remove lug nuts easy. BUT, it takes A LOT of air. If you try to feed it on a long thin air hose with normal QC's you won't have enough pressure to drive this, and you'll think it's weak. It isn't. My son's friend got a challenging lug nut off of his pickup truck with this, one that jumping on a half inch breaker bar wouldn't budge. I had him start with this ratchet just for kicks, before resorting to a half inch gun. The ratchet hammered for a second or two then the nuts flew off. I drive it with air hose and compressor that can drive a HVLP spray gun. I suspect that most of the reviews that say this is under-powered didn't give it nearly enough air volume and pressure to let it perform at its peak. Note this is actually a right angle impact wrench, not a normal air ratchet. The good part of that is it won't drive your hand into adjacent metal parts if the nut doesn't come loose, and it can apply vastly more torque than a normal air ratchet. But it's a bit bulky, and takes WAY WAY more air than an air ratchet to perform at its peak. I haven't used it enough to see how durable it is. To my eye the construction isn't quite industrial. ... show more

  • Great tool!
Size: 1/2" Drive - 2025MAX Style: Wrench
This is a sweet air tool! It gets in places a normal impact can't and has way more power than an air ratchet. I work on industrial air compressors and it breaks every bolt loose every time, no need to switch tools. It's a great product, impresses everyone I show it too and it saves me a lot of time. My only complaint is that occasionally the head will lock up on me and it will just blow air out the tool. I can get it fixed quickly by grabbing the head with a 13mm wrench and turning it free. This doesnt happen all the time and it hasn't done it in about 2 weeks. Not sure if it's the quality of the air at some places I go to or if it's going to break soon. I also grease and oil this tool religiously with the specified IR lubricants. ... show more

  • It is the great little hammerhead
Size: 3/8" Drive - 2015MAX Style: Wrench
This isn’t the full sized hammerhead ( 1/2 drive) but works just as well as a little hammerhead ( 3/8 drive). Only recommendation is have a good supply of air while using it. I tried this out on a 6 Gal pancake compressor-> I was able to use it on a stubborn bolt before the compressor had to fill up again. Not necessarily the fastest ( or efficient) way to use it but it is still effective. ... show more
