First off let me say that the hydroponic tank is pretty good and will work just fine. But if you have never had one of these before and you need instructions to put things together it can be a bit confusing. My issue was with the pump which apparently had come loose in shipping. It's a bit odd how it sets in the tank and didn't seem to go where I thought it would. There is no mention in the instructions on installing the pump so I think it had just come loose in transit. There is a small plastic protective cover over the electrical plug on the light rod that goes into the base. There isn't any mention of it in the instructions and I didn't notice it. Make sure to remove it first or you can't install the light to the tank. I did not receive any covers in this kit which it says it comes with. Not a deal breaker but they are nice to have and you'll need them to cover any unused holes when you use it. Much nicer to use covers instead of tape or golf balls. This kit does not come with any nutrients. It doesn't say that it does in the listing, but the instructions make it seem like it does. So if you are buying this for a gift you will also need to purchase nutrients too if you want to make this kit complete. There seems to be a lot of confusion about the pump and how it works and when it runs. The listing makes it sound like it runs once a day and that's it, and the answer to someones question doesn't clear up the question either. The pump runs automatically for 15 minutes once every hour. Simple. I was hoping that the grow light would extend for 22 inches above the plant deck. It doesn't. The write up is a bit misleading in that regard. The maximum height is just short of 17 inches above the plant growing surface, and 22 inches above the table. Overall this is a decent usable hydroponics tank if you have had one before and have some additional supplies on hand to make this kit complete. The instructions are horrible, but it is easy enough to figure out on your own. For the price it should be a complete kit to get you up and running at least for your first grow. I would recommend it if you are just looking to add another tank to your hydroponics systems and know what you're doing, but I wouldn't buy this as a gift to get someone started in hydroponics.

Note, I have not yet started to grow anything because the system didn't come with seeds or nutrients. I'm still doing research on how to actually grow anything. The system comes with a small page of instructions on how to put it together, but There is a very small instruction sheet that comes in the package, but it only talks about safety issues. There are pictures telling you to soak your sponges (how long?) and plant seeds (how many? what kind?). I was able to figure out how to get to the timer because there was a "push here" on the door. That was good. The instructions said to "put in the correct amount of nutrients" What nutrient? Where do I get that? I can't find a link on the original product page. The light does rise up nice and high, and the tank is not "huge" but it's a good size. It will fit on the counter in my kitchen, or on a small table. I hope that I will be able to grow some greens for meals, but meanwhile I'm on the search for hydroponic nutrients. When I have grown one crop in this, I'll need to replace the sponges, and I don't see a link for those either. I hope this isn't a once and done deal.

This system is larger than the one I already own. Holds more water and I like the adjustable height for the grow lights. It was easy to put together. I also like the fold up controls on the front of the unit. Should be easy to replace the sponges with standard size. It does not include seeds or hydroponic nutrients and that was disappointing. If you are giving this as a gift it would probably be good to make a separate purchase for both of those things.

This was easy to put together, easy to set-up. Looks very nice. It's a little smaller than a name brand garden I already own, but will work well for growing herbs and flowers. The pump will agitate the water for 30 minutes daily and the light stays on for 11 hour cycles. Operation is a no-brainer. The light is adjustable as the plants grow taller. The cord plugs in near the bottom of the unit so the look is very clean. Soil sponges and cages appear to be a standard, common size which is important for continued use. Others have odd or off sizes making replacements difficult to acquire and more expensive. I also like that the control panel flips into the body of the reservoir, make the unit look even tidier.

It's not a complete set. You need buy seeds and nutrients, but otherwise this is a great starter hydroponics set to start seedlings and maybe grow a few veggies directly. They say the LEDS are 50k hrs, but I wonder what the intensity it will have after daily use for a year. LED plate is definitely a consumable item - keep that inmind

This is my second hydroponic setup. Compared to the last one I had, the adjustable light is great. It is easy to move up and down and needed for plant size, and can be tilted easily as well. The water tank holds 3 liters of water, so plenty of space for water and roots. The sponge sizes are standard so you can get replacements of any brand easily. The light itself seems decent, but doesn’t seem to be full spectrum. My major complaint is that there is a small blue LED light in the tank window. It’s bright and I wish there was a way to turn it off. This kit also did not come with any fertilizer. I had some extra from my other setup so I used that, but it would have been better if it was included. These kits are usually a complete starter kit setup so I was a little suprised.
