I was really skeptical of buying what Amazon suggested, but this blend really did taste just like a lot of espresso I had while visiting Italy this summer. I really appreciate that the can is sealed as well prior to opening, so you know the beans are as fresh as can be from the start. These are the best coffee beans! I love a fresh ground bean for my coffee in the morning. This is the best one I’ve ever tried although they are a little pricey. I’m willing to pay the extra money because the flavor is so good.

Coffee is a lot like wine...paying more often is a fool's game, although sometimes there are good outcomes. This particular fool found this $30 per pound coffee very fresh and possessing the greatest "crispness" ever tasted in a cup of Joe, leaving my mouth feeling as if I just drank seltzer water. Terrific sensation from the spice notes! As others have claimed, I agree it is better than Starbuck's Pikes Place or anything Peet's has to offer. It lacks full-body unlike Blue Mountain and does not possess the smoothness of Kona. That said, it is not over-acidic, has some strong spice notes and can be pushed to make a very strong cup of coffee without the flavor becoming mushy and retaining its crispness, unlike other coffees. Made for black coffee drinkers like me who want a smooth taste with no bitterness, yet has the taste that Americans like to have in a black coffee. Recommend a 1:17 water/coffee ratio, medium-fine setting of 19 using a Baratza Encore grinder and a water temperature of 202-205° F - do a 45 second bloom with a slow circular pour over 2:00-3:00 is optimal (for 10-12oz brew).
