After watching a few videos I decided to purchase this for my Breville Touch. Sometimes the grounds were not getting full extraction for seemingly no reason. Using this screen significantly improved the crema amount and taste of the shots. The puck comes out almost dry after a shot is pulled. Probably the hardest thing to get used to is removing the screen without losing it in the knock box in a pile of grounds. Two knocks at an angle generally gets it out and into my fingers. It cleans easily under the running water. Try it out!

This is an effective puck screen insofar as it keeps the shower screen very clean, but be prepared to dial in your espresso recipe again, especially if you drink straight espresso. The metal cools the brew temperature which in my case soured my favorite recipe. I had to adjust to a one-step finer grind and increase the brew temperature slightly to ”sweeten” the shot. Update two weeks later: a one step finer grind and I am now satisfied.

My espresso Machine: Gaggia Classic Pro with 58mm Portafilter My grinder: Baratza Encore Depending on your espresso setup and how you do things, your results will vary. But for me, I do notice a difference when I use this, and my espresso always tends to taste/look better. The only issue I have is cleaning it, due to it being multi-layered with lots of holes. The way I clean it is by putting it in boiling water with white vinegar and letting it sit in there for 10 minutes. Then wash it off with dish soap.

I bought this for use with the Breville Barista Express, 54mm portafilter. I immediately noticed that the screen improved the quality of my espresso shots. You will need to recalibrate your grind amount and fineness when using the screen. But once you have it dialed in, you’ll pull a perfect shot every time. It has the bonus of keeping your shower head very clean (no build up of grounds or oil) and produces a very compact puck. An essential purchase, in my opinion.
