TL;DR. Are these speakers impossibly good given the size? Yes. One reason I decided to buy these is that I am very happy with my old iLoud portable Bluetooth speaker which is also 3" and sound way battery than a portable BT speaker is supposed to sound, let alone 3". Micro pros do sound much better than the portable thing. Both sound too good for the size. Room correction on Micro Pro is a very handy feature and worked exactly as expected. The effect is very similar to to what I experienced with larger and way more expensive systems. IMO it is must have unless the room is very well treated. I have to say I do not use these as reference monitors, so I cannot comment on how useful they are for mixing. I use them as desktop speakers and I did apply some minor sound color using X-monitor to my taste. I use them with SMSL RAW MDA1 DAC and they did not work well with RCA connection to the DAC when DAC was connected to PC by a USB cable - there was some very noticeable static noise. The problem did not exist when DAC I was using Bluetooth instead. With XLR however even when DAC is connected by the same USB cable to the same PC there is ZERO noise. While these speakers are great they do not produce bass a significantly larger drivers are capable of producing. But for their size the amount and quality of bass is impressive to the point I almost feel it in my chest (of course I do not *really* feel it, but given the quality of the bass and knowing how it sounds on higher end systems w/ subwoofer this is what body starts "feeling"). ... show more

The bass and sound quality is unreal. The size and build quality of these speakers make them ideal for monitoring and normal listening. They won't take too much space on your desk and they'll quickly impress anyone who hears them for the first time. The included ARC Mic makes it a breeze to calibrate them according to your room's acoustic properties. This is a plus if you live in an apartment and can't customize your room to become a mini studio. Plus the simplicity and build quality means that you'll keep these for a long while. Only gripe is that mine seem to draw power constantly (around 16-18W) even when they're idle and I'm not playing any music through them. This might not bother other people but it is a concern for me as my power bill is a little bit higher on a monthly basis if I don't turn them off regularly when not listening. I think they should fix this via a firmware update. Apart from that, these are definitely worth it. P.S. you'll need an audio interface to use these as they're not plug and play and don't support Bluetooth or USB ... show more

Awesome product. I had a hard time mixing on my Yamaha HS monitors because they do not translate well. With these monitors, it is a day and night difference. All of a sudden, mixes done on these sound great everywhere, from my smart phone to my car speakers. Love this product. They hiss but you cannot hear it from sufficiently far away or if you turn up the volume (from the source not the actual speakers). Other than that I am pretty happy with them, they sound amazing and have pretty good bass considering the size

the Micromonitor Pros sound pretty good for a tiny speaker, nbut they seem to mute between words and miss the first sound for an instant. This is unacceptable for good listening, especially fir monitoring my professional audio work. I'm returning them, disappointed as they are so cute!

Man I will be honest and say I was not at all expecting these to sound as big or as detailed as they do. They look like some desktop computer speakers but are far from it! My first impression, I was blown away considering the size of these. They sound way bigger than they look. They were surprisingly accurate and found that my mixes translated to real world scenarios well. These make a great reference pair and could even be a good primary pair if you are very limited in space not just for the size but for the included software as well! This has a program called X monitor that does a quick calibration of your sweet spot with the included mic and basically "tunes" the speakers to your room. It's similar to Arc if you've ever used it. I found it to be quick and accurate for a broad stroke calibration. I did have an issue calibrating the first couple of times and it would just have an error but that could have been my outdated software. It worked after a couple of tries. I'm running Monterey on a Mac Pro still. My other iloud precision speakers use xmonitor as well and work flawlessly though. Other than that little hiccup these are a no brainier for me. These fit right in between my PMC's and Yamahas and the sound profile is a great contrast. I forgot to mention that the software has emulations for other monitors as well (like ns10, mixcube, etc.) so you can really get an idea of what your music sounds like on different sources. It's similar to the Mixchecker plugin if you are familiar with that one. Im finding it very cool and it lets me hear things I wouldnt normally hear on the bigs. I did a location shoot with a live recorded band this past weekend and had to do a post mix in an old barn. I brought these along and honestly the clients thought the roughs sounded great and when I brought it back to the studio, the mix only needed some minor tweaks on the mains. Overall I'm very happy with this pair and their accuracy, especially after calibration. Since Ive gotten them, every mix I've done has been checked through these and they really do help me hear things I missed. To me, that is one of the most important traits of a studio monitor and these nailed it. They are small speakers but you aren't paying for size, you're paying for accuracy. ... show more
