I really liked the quality of this product. It feels well-made, it is a thoughtful design. It fits naturally into your hand and the read button is easy to push when the device is a finger’s width from the middle of the patient’s forehead. Your hold can also be easily adapted to use on yourself. I also liked that it came with specific, concise usage and care instructions. And the vendor sent me additional information about storing it where the room temp would be about the same as the room it would be used in - very helpful, there is no confusion here. It comes with a pair of batteries, too, which I would remove if it sat in storage unused for a long period of time. It comes boxed with a reusable protective plastic cradle for proper storage. I thoroughly tested the device for consistency and accuracy. Repeated readings are very consistent over the course of an hour, but as any topical thermometer, you must wait to use if there has been any activity like eating or drinking warm foods or exercising. This would have easily gotten 5 stars if had tested as accurate as my oral mercury thermometer. Maybe a half a degree to a full off on the cool side, but it’s ease and safety far outweigh taking temps the old fashioned way. I still do rectal temps for my toddler because it’s the most accurate (he would not be happy to be quiet and sit still for an oral temp lol). But I wanted a forehead thermometer to at least alert me if he’s warm or if I’m just being paranoid! This thermometer has plenty of positive reviews and it was certainly cost-effective. But it always reads somewhere in the 97F range, except a few times where I’ve had a 98.6 reading. Last night my son was screaming all night that his ear hurt (😢) and since he has a history of sneaky ear infections, I checked him. 97.3 it said, which was okay because he didn’t feel warm right then. But over the night he started to feel HOT—like that classic dry heat, oven feeling when someone has a fever. I checked him with the iHealth thermometer right above the middle of his eyebrows like the instructions said, and it read 99.7….then I took his temp rectally and it was 101.5! I got a closer reading to the traditional thermometer by holding the iHealth therm. at his temple, where it read 101.3. Sorry if that was hard to follow! Guess I’ll just go back to trusting my own judgement before I take our temps internally 🤷🏻♀️ ... show more

I don’t know how I got by being a mom of 5 kids so long without this tool!! Checking temps on fussy and feverish babies has suddenly become a painless process, and middle-of-the-night temperature checks cause no disturbance to slumbering sickies. We have tried a few different thermometer Brands, As seen on TV, Equate & Analog. I have never been impressed with any that we have, 98% of the time the readings were not accurate. This little gem, is not only surprisingly accurate (I'm not a expert!) But extremely easy to use. I wanted something that would just work! One button touch, + couple seconds and the temp pops up. I really like it, but out f the box it reads about 1 degree lower than what it should. I need to read the instructions thoroughly to see if it can be calibrated. But it should read correctly straight out of the box! Update: Rating upped to 5 stars. Seller sent a replacement (great customer service!) and the problem seems to be ME (possibly medical skin cream). After testing on my son, it works fine. ... show more

I'm getting a different reading. It's a nice thermometer, but I'm suspicious of the accuracy with the variations I am getting - 103, 99.7, 97.1, 101.2 taken at the same place at the same time.

    • Much quicker than a mercury thermometer

I like the convenience of this. You find your temperature instantly, instead of having to wait several minutes for a mercury-based thermometer. It simply saves time, which is why, I suppose, most doctor's offices have switched to this type of thermometer when screening folks for COVID.
