    • Great Bang for the Buck

Recently did an 8 day car camping trip, half of which was solo. I didn't need and couldn't handle the two huge coolers I already own, but needed bigger and better quality than the little cheapie one I use for 2-3 day trips. This cooler held its own admirably against my Canyon and Orca. Very sturdy, kept ice every bit as well. I added a small (10 lb?) bag of ice each time I went through a town, which ended up being 3 times over the 8 days. I do also freeze any food I'm able to before packing, and use several 32 oz frozen water bottles, started out with 6 of those this time. I drink the water as it thaws, so those gradually disappeared too and everything still did great. I really have no complaints and feel this cooler is an EXCELLENT value for the cost. Definitely better than paying $500+ for a cooler just because of its name <cough>YETI<cough> Highly recommend. Love the yellow color too! ... show more

    • Well Built Keeps Ice For Days

The media could not be loaded. This Igloo Cooler is very well built and seems like it will hold up to use for a long time. I tested it on a road trip where I stayed overnight at a campground and had it sitting in my van the whole time. I put ice in it on a Monday, camped overnight, came home and left it and drinks in the cooler in the van.The video shows what I find when I go out to the van for a look on the following Friday to see if there was any ice left and well, the video shows that there still was ice! Sure it had some water, but, quite a bit of ice still. The drinks were very cold still. Now, one thing that some may see as a con is that it doesn't have a drain plug, but, for me, it was what I wanted because I have heard stories about the drain plugs leaking water out and since I was going to have this sitting in my van I did not want the risk water leakage in my van. It's not that big of deal to dump it out when you are finished using the cooler. The latches like the ones here on some other brand coolers, I have read were too hard to pull and then some of them broke eventually from having to pull them so hard and stretching them so much. The latches on the Igloo seem to be just right. You don't have to pull really hard, just enough to release it and then put it back to secure it. I also like the little places on the top for tie downs. The handle is very sturdy and solid and easy to grip. Igloo has been making coolers for a long long time, and this is a lot less expensive than some other competitors and I doubt if someone is going to want to steal my Igloo cooler, another reason why I went with this brand. It looks really good too and fits perfectly in my passenger seat in my van. It will sweat a bit of course, so I just put a tarp underneath it and a towel to absorb any moisture. This is really perfect for a one to 3 day outing for sure and I'm glad I decided to go with Igloo! ... show more

This cooler does great for a lunch box. A couple of frozen water bottles keeps my food just right. I had used a Playmate Magnum for years and it was about shot, so this is its replacement. I measured for size likeness, and this one fit the bill. Weight is a bit heavier, but so are the thermal qualities. The rubber latches seem to perform well, but can be unmatched by your pant leg while walking, so turn the cooler around with the latches away from your leg. The carry handle is sturdy and has a padded underside for comfortable carry. The picture did show a silver diamond plate cover on the front bottom, which mine dod not come with. All in all I'm very pleased with my purchase. Should last well past the next 4 years to retirement, then it can be used for leisure! ... show more

Sitting in a van in the sun all day, the ice was not all melted. Even after I get it home and in the garage, at least 1/2 the ice was still in there the next morning. Also, three days later still in the garage there was no ice left, but the water in the cooler left behind by the melted ice, was still cool to the touch.
