  • Happy With This Choice, I Was Hesitant
Color: Aquamarine/Gray
Apparently I read so many cooler reviews prior to buying this one, my other half now tells strangers I am a "cooler expert." I am not, but I did seriously consider over 50 coolers from $10 to the $200+ YETI and ORCA brand versions in similar capacity. I was almost checked out on an ORCA when I read several recent reviews about manufacturing faults (which happen even on expensive items) followed by terrible customer service and warranty redemption. In the end I figured while I knew the heavy hitting brands were amazing at what they do, I didn't want to risk being the 1 in 100 who got screwed while paying the big bucks. This seemed the most reasonable chance. I was most nervous of all the reports of the handle pegs coming out, or the brackets loosening- but noticed many of these complaints were tied to a specific time frame of manufacturing and a few specific models/colors. I didn't care too much about it holding up to rough handling, as we bought it for road trips in the back of our CR-V, but I did want it to 1. Not leak, 2. Be able to support my chonky 200lb butt as a seat in a pinch, and 3. Keep my items chilled for a minimum of 48 hours with proper conditioning prior to fill/use. Overall I have been very happy with the buy for the money. I have niggles the handle and even man handled the top and brackets extensively, and more than I ever would in normal use and all seems tight and secure. I love that the rubber snap toggles on the front are easy to use and I feel it creates a nice snug air seal. It does and has supported my butt/weight without feeling flimsy. Here is our basic breakdown of a good test run: For one use I wanted to drive 2 hours away to pick up 13 pints of handcrafted ice cream, then stop and eat for an hour, and drive back home. I put the cooler in our kitchen overnight with 5 frozen water bottles and a towel to help fill the empty space and insulate. About 14 hours later 1 bottle had thawed, 3 were solid frozen, 1 was 1/3 thawed. At this point I placed 5lbs of dry ice (wrapped in the towel) on top of the remaining frozen bottles, removing the 1 thawed one. On top of the towel and bottles I added 4 small frozen gatorades. Later that day (9 hours after dry ice) we arrived at our pickup destination. All bottles were still just as frozen as they had been 9 hours prior. I had to remove the oldest (frozen water) bottles to fit 13 pints of ice cream. At this point inside the cooler was 4.75 lb dry ice wrapped in a towel, 4 small frozen gatorades, and 13 pints of ice cream with little free space. We arrived home about 3 hours later and everything seemed just as frozen as when we'd left. I removed the pints and left the dry ice wrapped in the towel, 4 small frozen gatorades, and added the mostly frozen 3 water bottles back in. The inside of the cooler was about half empty space so definitely not most efficient. I came back 12 hours later just to check and was shocked to see everything inside still frozen and the brick of dry ice perhaps at 60% mass to it's initial pickup some 26 hours prior. I drove around all day in the 90F heat, opening the cooler 3 times to retried or put a chilled (not frozen) food item or drink inside. At the end of Day 2 all 4 mini gatorades were still frozen, 3 water bottles were icey but half thawed, dry ice was around 40% original mass. On Day 3 I went out to check the state of things and noticed there was still some ice between the towel and the cooler wall and while 1 gatorade had thawed, the 3 directly under the dry ice towel were still rock frozen. I removed the last of the original water bottles. Another day 85F heat, opened once, return home, dry ice maybe 20 percent mass, less than 1/4 original, the 3 gatorades were sweaty but still 80% ice. Day 4 I wake up and check and the dry ice is pretty much gone, I toss the bag, leave the towel over the 3 gatorades, still icy, about 1/4 icey but very very cold. Drive around 86F, 7 hours later I open up the cooler and take a sip of one of the original gatorades it is ice chilled but liquid. The above example was done with minimal efficiency- I feel confident if I kept the inside packed with little air space I could've increased results further. But, honestly, I am quite happy with how well everything kept in my car for 4 days with temperatures 85-90F in SoCal. If I have a gripe it's the weight. This thing is clunky and cumbersome, but it works. ... show more

  • Really Keeps Ice Cold for Days
Color: Rugged Blue
I am VERY pleased with my new Igloo BMX 25 Quart Cooler with Cool Riser Technology. I live in Southwest Arizona and a cooler that really works is a super find. I recent took it on a 48 hour. I did not add additional ice along the way and still had ice cubes when I returned home. This cooler is narrow enough to sit on the floor of my back seat and it latches tightly to stay shut. I know you can purchase less expensive small coolers but they don't work as well as this one does! ... show more

  • The best ice chest
Color: Carb/Grey/Blue
We absolutely love these ice chests. This is the second one we've bought. We have the 25qt and the 52qt. I was hesitant on their statement that it'll keep ice for up to three days in 90-100°F weather but they do! These are great for camping for an extended period of time with a larger size! We got the 25qt for shorter camping trips, Beach days, or even just taking a cold lunch to work. This will keep ice while inside your hot car all day. ... show more

  • Great...UNLESS...
Color: Green/Orange
Unless you like to through your cooler off off your truck or drop It off a cliff or fill it with honey and put it out for the freakin' bears...this cooler is perfect. That being said it is very tough anyway and I see it lasting me literally "forever" as I actually treat my gear with a little respect. Holds ice for a solid 2-3 days when brined the night before with gallon jugs of ice...without that step it's still a perfect 1-2 day cooler & absolutely perfect for road tripping. Seriously... 1/3 the cost & very well built (oh wait, take freaking care of the thing)....for reference I own a Yeti as well. ... show more

  • Stays cold in the Oklahoma sun
Color: White/Blue
This fit perfectly on our pontoon boat in one spot on the back, which is why we bought it. I have been highly impressed with how well it has worked and how long it has kept ice.

  • Awesome Cooler At Fraction Price of Yeti
Color: White/Blue
I've give myself high-fives and pats on the back every time I use this. This product has really made me question why Yeti charges an arm and a leg for their products. After our ice melted in less than 1.5 days in a budget Coleman cooler last year while camping, we knew we needed to upgrade our coolers. We needed both a larger and a smaller cooler since they each have their best applications. With our larger cooler, I decided to go with an RTIC cooler. Though cheaper than Yeti, RTIC coolers are still expensive compared to Igloo. For our smaller cooler, I decided to give this a try after reading all the positive reviews.... AND SO GLAD I DID! (high-fiving self) Compared to the RTIC, this cooler was nearly comparable in retaining ice. Did the ice melt faster? Yes, but I believe only due to its size and volume of ice inside. Ever wonder why you get sooooo much ice when you order a drink when out at a restaurant or at the bar? One reason is to slow down the melting of the ice so that you don't end up with a watered down drink before you take your first sip. We took this cooler down to the shore last August and it easily retained the ice for 2 days in the shade with temperatures in the upper 80s. It could have lasted much longer, but our daughter decided to dump her milk in it. We have also used this cooler on day trips and left it in our truck while hitting the outdoors. Using three ice packs, it has sat in our truck for over five hours in the sun with the outdoor temperature in the mid 80s. Despite our truck heating to above 100 degrees inside, the ice packs remained completely solid and our food and drinks remained nice and cold. (another self high-five) This is an awesome little cooler, and when you factor in price... this is hands down the best value out of the coolers that I have purchased. Even better... we purchased this through Amazon Warehouse in Like New condition and saved even more. (high-fiving self again) The only negative I have is the weight. For its size, it is fairly heavy because of the wall-thickness used for insulation purposes. Loaded with ice and frosty drinks, you won't want to carry this long distances. Do not let the Igloo brand fool you. Maybe you won't look "cool" like people with a Yeti... but your wallet will look cooler with more money in it at the end of the day. ... show more
