The ieGeek Security Camera is pretty well built - I say this having some experience with the previous model which had some issues with the camera housing being a bit weak - the body seems stronger and better built. The install is easier on this model only requiring two screws with wall anchors (if needed) to install. The screws could be a little longer, but they are adequate. The mounting plate is fixed to the camera body unlike previous models in which it separates for installation. The video quality and night vision are very good without being super high res taking up too much of the memory. The free cloud storage only gives you 6 second snippets and only holds it for 30 days (I think?) but it's enough to download if you have an event (break-in or package theft or whatever). And the cloud service is reasonably priced if you end up wanting more cloud storage. It takes up to 128 Micro SD card for local storage. It very quickly and easily connects to my wifi. The app seems a little clunky at first, but once you get explore it a bit it is pretty easy to navigate. I do wish it could go a bit wider on the view, but it is pretty decent as evidenced in the attached photo where you can see the coverage is about a full 90 degree shot of the front of my house from front to carport on side. Quickly notifies if the motion detection is on. It has options for alarms and strobe lights if desired. The solar panel with only afternoon/evening light adequately charges the camera. I've never had the battery run down while using. I would recommend this new model camera if you are looking for an affordable camera with pretty robust features. Customer service has been very responsive as well. Summary: Pros 1. Good Price Point 2. Picture Quality and Nigh Vision very decent 3. I've been using ieGeek cameras for several years. I've found them to be very dependable, providing peace of mind for securing our property when we are away. I have a garden shed in the backyard that does not have commercial power. However, it sits in a perfect location to capture a view of our driveway and the entrance to a detached garage/workshop. While searching for a solution to this problem, and knowing how reliable my other ieGeek cameras have been, I selected this particular model with the solar panel. It is wifi operational, offers me the ability to store information on a microSD card, has tilt and rotation so I can "track" any motion at or near my buildings, and utilizes the solar panel to maintain the enclosed battery. As you will see in my pictures, the camera mounted easily to the dormer of my shed, with ample room for the solar panel to mount near it. The cord to the solar panel is quite long, so I ended up wrapping and storing most of it alongside the camera. The camera provides excellent clarity and definition of objects near and far. If you look at the left corner of my detached garage, you will see one of my earlier outdoor cameras that operates on commercial electricity. I have several of these type and was disappointed when they became manufacturer discontinued. But, as they say, that is progress. Setup: When using the solar panel, the manual recommends not recording for intervals longer than 10 seconds. But I am going to bump mine up to 20 seconds for a more sustained view as there is a two or three second void between recording sessions when continual motion is detected. I interface with this camera using the ieGeekcam application. My other ieGeek outdoor cameras use CamHi or CamHipro apps. My indoor ieGeek cameras and doorbell use the CloudEdge app. My biggest complaint when using different "generations" of ieGeek cameras is that they can't all be incorporated into one app. This particular camera was supposed to be able to use either ieGeekcam or CloudEdge. However, after an hour of failure getting it added to my other CloudEdge cameras, I gave up and set it up with ieGeek Cam. The issue I have now is that I can't move my other CloudEdge cameras to this ieGeekcam platform without resetting each of them and reloading them into the app. It's not a terribly big deal. But not as easy as it sounds if they are mounted in out of the way places or are wired-in doorbells. (since posting my initial review, I have moved this camera to my Cloud Edge app, so now all of my cameras are on Cloud Edge or CamHi). The camera is dependable, but somewhat slow in establishing encrypted stream or viewing the video streams when you want to view the activity. Much slower than the loading times of the wired ieGeek cameras I have. Although I have to say, this camera hasn't failed to allow my reviewing multiple alarms as my other cameras frequently do. Enough complaining. All in all I am pleased with the performance of this camera. It is compact, easily installed with two screws for the camera and three for the solar panel mount, all included. The only thing I had to provide was a couple tie wraps to contain the extra cable to the solar panel, and about 10 minutes to get out my ladder, mount the camera and solar panel, and put my ladder away, When I compare the technology and performance of this camera with cameras costing 10 X this amount just a few years ago, I'm impressed. I've not had it up very long, so I don't know how well it will do in the snow and cold of the winter months. I'd hope the solar panel will attract enough sun to melt away the ice and still maintain the battery. But at this point in time, I'll say the picture is very good and my iPhone interfaces well. If I come up with any solution to combining the apps, or feedback on how the 20 second record time affects the battery, I'll post a follow up to this review. Thanks for your time. ... show more
