  • Buy this shirt. Wear it for a week. Hang it up for 24 hours. Sniff it. You will smell wool, not your BO
Best T-Shirt I've ever had or could possibly have wished for. Merino wool. Remember this. Also, never wear any synthetics--they all stink, even the new ones with the silver-treatment... (junk. Stinks just as fast). I just backpacked for three months. Wore one of two Icebreaker Merino wool t-shirts as a base layer every day. That's 45 days. I could wear this shirt 3 days in a row. I wouldn't stink as much as cotton. I think the stink time is Synthetics: 4 hours (one workout), cotton 8 hours, merino wool? two days. Here's the amazing part. Hang it up overnight, any body odor is mostly gone. Let it 'rest' for two days? It's hard to tell from a fresh laundered one. Merino wool is anti-bacterial, wicks water away from heat. (so if you wash it, wear it if you can and it'll dry out. If you hang it up to dry, even in the sun, you need to turn it inside out every now and then because the inside-where it's coolest will stay damp). It held up exceptionally well. I hauled a heavy back pack, camera on a strap, second pack on straps--these can really distort clothing. This t-shirt still looks new. For my second layers I have these in long sleeve, one about the same weight as the t-shirts, one heavier. For the layer above that I have one of the new puffy jackets (a nano something). If I wear that over this t-shirt, the jacket will stink, stay stinky while this shirt doesn't stink at all. Next trip that jacket isn't going, I'm going to get a zip front merino sweater. At one point after several hot days and long hikes I had dried body salts in white patches on the shirt, but it still didn't stink. ... show more

  • Icebreaker Tech T is better
This is ok for an undershirt in the winter, but it is a spandexy fabric that is very body-conforming thus only complements the slimmest of bodies. They also have what I can only describe as a "cheapness" in appearance similar to wholly synthetic shirts. If you are looking for something more like a traditional t-shirt that happens to be made out of 100% merino wool try the Icebreaker Tech T line. These are good looking t-shirts that look expensive and usually are expensive. If you're an American and in the market for a merino t-shirt, always purchase a size larger than you normally would if you were buying an American t-shirt. This is actually a good thing for most of us large-ish Americans; XL and XXL sizes, which are equivalent to American L and XL respectively are the sizes, are the ones you most often see on deep discount if you use a price-compare website. As others have written, merino is fantastic as far as stink goes. They just don't get stinky from wear. You might be stinky, but your shirt stays pretty pleasant most of the time. The one exception is when the shirt is soaked, either from rain or sweat, then it smells kind of sheepy. It's not a pleasant smell, but it's also not at all like B.O. and is a smell that in colder climates, at least, is currently socially acceptable since everyone who can afford a wool coat wears it with them 4-6 months a year. The good thing is that all of the t-shirts I have tried from Icebreaker dry and lose the sheepstink plenty fast. ... show more

  • Middle of the road quality with athletic fit
These are great wool and Lycra blend shirts that seem like they will hold up well. They're significantly thinner than my shirts from smartwool, woolx, and minus33, and the stitching on these is not as well done as those brands. The fit on these is significantly smaller than the size labeled, the xl's I ordered for more akin to a regular L tee shirt, which is unfortunate because I ordered them large because I wanted them to be looser fitting. Even so, these are a decent wool t-shirt for layering and I expect them to last a while, as I have faith in this brand. ***Make sure you wash them inside out with woolite on cold and you won't get the holes and other problems people are mentioning here. ... show more

  • Best under shirt I own.
I love Icebreaker shirts period. These things are the comfiest shirts I own. They keep me warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Remember these shirts are likely the under armor compression shirts but not made from that material. The quality of these shirts are always going to be a 5 star but here, on Amazon, I give 4 stars because the price of these shirts are astronomical. Maybe if they were made in any other first world country I could understand then being expensive but they are made in China. ... show more

  • Not Merino wool, 100% false advertising.
Color: Black Size: Medium
I have worn merino wool socks exclusivley for about 3 years now (mostly Darn Toughs, but also smart wool socks and other name brands that dont come to mind) and have fallen in love with Merino for its ability to keep me cozy in -40° Vermont winters and 100° humid, NY summer days. I bartend and wear the exact same 3 pair of socks year round with no problems. I bought this expecting it would feel similar, not even the exact same just similar, but what I got was something that felt like putting on a pair of raw denim jeans with no underwear on and with incredibly fine sand in them. My first thought when putting it on was "Is this some Chinese rip off of merino wool?" Sure enough, made in China. I would NOT recommend these to anyone and would actively discourage you from buying it if you expect comfort. ... show more

  • Great undershirt
Color: Black Size: Medium
Fits well, thin and dries quickly. This shirt is 100% wool so it needs to be taken care of a little more than wool + synthetic blend fabrics.

  • The best of the best
Another great style from Icebreaker. This style is slim cut, which works best on me. Pay attention to that when choosing IB items, as some styles have a more relaxed fit. The 150 weight merino wool is light enough for running/workout wear in temps from 60-80F. I run in these (have several colors) and, like all Icebreaker, they go 2-3 days before getting stinky. Less laundry to do and longer life for the shirts. It's also stylish enough to wear around town on its own or as an undershirt to add a pop of color. I have tons of IB and will continue to buy more. It's great stuff and it lasts. I still have the first items I bought 8-10 years ago (T-shirts, long undies & socks). Most of them look virtually brand new despite constant wear. This is one brand where you really get what you pay for. ... show more
