Description

Paul Gilbert Signature for the Up and Coming Guitarist Young guitarists have heroes too. That's why Ibanez is releasing this Paul Gilbert signature PGMM31 short-scale electric guitar. Now players with smaller hands can enjoy the quirky and iconic looks of Gilbert's full-size models, while flying up and down their very own maple Ibanez neck. High-gain tones are on full display with a duo of Ibanez's Infinity humbucking pickups. And true to many of Gilbert's larger models, the PGMM31 boasts a hardtail bridge that keeps your tuning rock solid. Now there's a Paul Gilbert signature Ibanez for everyone.Paul Gilbert's defining look The striking F-hole paint job on the PGMM31 short-scale electric guitar harkens back to the shred-master's original Ibanez designs from the late 1980s. The graphic injects a tongue-in-cheek classiness to an otherwise aggressively constructed instrument. And judging by all the attention it gets in Sweetwater's Guitar Gallery, it's a look

  • Five Stars
At this price point its a nice guitar.

  • I like it.
Very good for practicing in a more comfortable setting. The neck comes from a different Chinese factory, probably because of the headstock. Plays good after cleaning the frets. Probably just the same as the basic with signature look. It will chip easily. Still worthy.

  • Better stuff out there.
I am sorry, but this is a cheap toy-like item. And, I would say this after buying 4 cheap small guitars. All at the same time. A shoot-out. This one went back. The traveler strat was the best. Full size neck. Small cool body. Straty sound. Not lots of bottom. The cheap 3/4 travel Hofner at much less money was also cool. Both were better than the Gilbert. Sorry. Paul is great. This guitar is not. Baddabing. You tell me. ... show more

  • Not sure if I will keep this.
My mom got me this for Christmas. I was super excited to get one. Way back in the late 90s, when I was in my early teens, I wanted the original PRS guitar. The white one. But, it was far too expensive. I got this and started playing. Man, I dug it. Then, I realized it had went out of tune. So, I tuned the thing. I played a few notes. Out of tune. I got medium strings. Though, they are light. I put them on. Out of tune. I had the guitar hooked to my multi effects thing, that has a tuner on it. The thing will tune, then right away, go out of tune. I mean, I have been playing guitar for, probably 20 years. This guitar will NOT stay in tune. No matter what the heck I do. Actually, it seems to have gotten a bit better. I mean, it still goes out of tune. But, not RIGHT away. That is to be said for all but the low E string. I cannot get that string, to tune, no matter what the heck I do. I just won’t do it. Then, if you bend the strings, out of tune. So, I tried just strumming with my finger, on the strings. Out of tune. I, cannot figure out, what is causing it. The guitar sounds good. To be picky, there is a part or so, mussing some paint on the back. Also, a part of the neck, the part more towards the guitar, is rougher than the rest of the neck. I have big hands. But, Paul Gilbert has huge robot hands. I thought, if he can play it, so can I. But, when I am playing an E chord, right by the head, I almost have to put my hand under the thing to be able to play. I get it. This is a low cost guitar that is made for fun. But, I just started taking lessons from Gilbert on a site and it makes it really hard to play. I will have to return the thing I think. I just don’t know what else I can do. It sucks, I mean, I just put like, $18 strings on the thing. ... show more

  • Second travel guitar
Smaller scale length great for stretches, horriblly cramped for barre chords high on the neck (especially E and Amin shape). Reverse headstock makes tuning more of a chore. Sound is good with stock pickups. Fret ends good enough for a sub-$200 guitar. PG let his students know this was coming back in March, so I held off on getting a short-scale guitar for three months until this was out. Was looking for something portable that holds tune better than my Traveler EG-1 (even with added locking Grover tuners). Probably about the same loss of tuning after bends, but want to try a set of 10s before final judgement. The Traveler is smaller, so it is better for carry on when flying, and it has a full size scale length. This guitar will probably only get roadtrip use unless I do what Paul Gilbert did with his and put three E strings each an octave apart and use it for soloing only! ... show more

  • looks great, light
Well built guitar, looks great, light, comfortable, and exceeded my expectations. Neck pickup is a bit muddy but who cares? Contrary to some other comments, I found it to stay in tune very well, just give it a day for the strings to settle in (I use the suggested 9-42 gauges). Neck is very comfortable and if your hands are small, you will find those streches very easy to do, which helps the playability. I actually stopped taking my 25.5 scale Ibanez rg out of its case after getting this. For the price, it's a super value! ... show more

  • Fun, but needs work to be playable.
Really fun guitar. But you need to have it professionally set up. Fret sprout is bad, and can be corrected. Nut needs to be deepened. Once these are done, you have a great little axe!
