  • This thing is great
I've played the same Fender USA strat since 2011, and I've played it a lot. It's the first thing I would grab if my house was on fire. With that said, I didn't really want anything to replace it, but I wanted something smaller and easier to play in the bedroom and other places that make a smaller form a little more bearable (makes it so much easier to get into those port-o-potties). Anyway, it IS much easier to play in more cramped spaces, BUT, holy crap is this thing fun to play. And it plays GREAT. The feel of it is awesome. The only downsides I have, which aren't enough to care about for me for this guitar, are the neck width (a little small for my hands, but I have big hands), and maybe the dead, bland feel of the wood in this guitar. It's still worth the money, but there's a way that good wood sounds when a guitar vibrates, and this once definitely has zero of that. But that isn't going to affect playability or how it sounds to a degree. And for the money, it's just fine. In fact that's maybe not even fair to gripe about at all with a guitar this cheap. ALL new guitars need a proper setup. It also takes a few hours of playing to get it broken in a little bit. I highly suggest buffing out/polishing the frets (this took the most time, but it made the most difference for me), NEW STRINGS, adjust pickups, adjust truss rod. Besides the fret buffing, bridge pickup being too low, and a little neck relief added, mine was actually in great shape. I also adjusted the bridge saddles a bit to match the radius of the fret board. I am only saying all of the setup stuff because I am seeing a lot of negative comments about this guitar being junk because it plays like crap. It WILL play like crap out of the box. You have to do more than tune it... It's a music instrument. It desperately needs intonation and new strings. Ibanez did this at the factory but that was in China, and it happened many months before it showed up in your hands. It's easy to do, and it will get this guitar up to its potential. I can't believe the build quality of this thing for 150 bucks. I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • IT SPARKLES. Also great quality for price.
I'm a beginner and I've bought a 3/4 Fender Squier Mini Strat for my first guitar since everyone said to get a Fender Squier. I thought it was okay but I bought this one and the difference is quite drastic. Sound quality is much better, stays in tune better, and overall feels and sounds much more legit. It's also slightly heavier than the Fender and the back of the neck is slightly slimmer than the Fender so the Ibanez feels better in my hands. Also, in case no one tells you: the guitar is not solid black, it's glittery. I usually hate glitter but I justify it since it's really subtle and looks like the night sky with stars. I also took it to a music shop and paid $25 to get it touched up where needed since I have no idea what I'm doing, and it sounds great. ... show more

  • Awesome short scale
Lost my index finger and gave up playing for years because the stretch needed and most of what i played i utilized all 4 fingers and I was devistated. My son said to me daddy you cant play guitar because your boo boo finger. He is only 4 😊I decided I would relearn with the other 3 to show my son if you loose something it doesnt mean you cant anymore, you can always relearn ,Improvise and overcome . So I thought a shorter scale will allow me to make those stretches between my middle and Index and was I on to something. This is an Awesome short scale guitar. Back of the neck is smooooth ,perfect C shape. Minor setup needed. This is made well and the price cant be beat for what you are getting. Nice black with gold to silver spec paint job. Pickups pretty good as well. I Love this thing and its the perfect size for my son to start learning if wants later on.Please keep up the qaulity good pricing Ibanez . ... show more

  • Sweet 3/4 scale electric guitar.
I loved my lost Ibanez RG full sized guitar. Haven't played much since, then recently had to have surgery on my fret hand and decided it would be good therapy to pick up a guitar again. My acoustic wasn't working well for this, so thought of getting a 3/4 scale electric. I so like this smaller scale, easier on my fret hand, nice neck (reminiscent of the wizard neck on the RG), great quality manufacturing. I plan to swap in some Seymour Duncan pick-ups and lower the saddles on the bridge a bit more, but for now, factory pick-ups it is. I play thru a Bugera V5 Amp which I purchased from Amazon. It's a wicked little amp. { edit } Finally took the leap this past Christmas and upgraded the pickups in my miKro. Santa brought me two Seymour Duncan pickups, I must've been extra good this past year, a Custom Custom for the bridge position & a Pearly Gates for the neck. Since the pick guard was being removed for the installation, I decided to upgrade all components attached to it. I purchased genuine Gibson 500k potentiometers for the volume & tone, a NOS Russian.022 paper in oil capacitor for tone control, & a genuine Fender 3 way selector switch. I don't like being harsh on the factory components, but if I was manufacturing inexpensive guitars, it would be difficult to go cheap on the woodworking. Thus leaving the rest of the instrument to find corners to cut. The factory components work, they are an acceptable starting point from which to customize your axe. If you really want to hear your miKro sing, scream & weep then change your p-ups. It is a strange feeling spending $250 on upgrades for a $150 guitar, but if like me, you find this 3/4 scale to be your baby, it's soo worth it. I'm very, very pleased with the p-up combination I've selected. As a side note, I'm running my miKro thru a Palmer pepamp/pocket amp (which I highly recommend to all guitarists, buy it, you won't be sorry), then a coliseum reverb by ModTone and finally into a small PA system. ... show more

  • Fantastic guitar!
Exceptionally high quality easy to play guitar right out of the box. Came with good strings. Intonation was spot on. I was amazed at the easy playability and the fantastic appearance of this guitar. Set up was perfect for me. Grab one of these guitars of one is available, you will be glad you did.
