  • very impressive - not a beginners bass
i have been playing bass now for a little over 45 years and this is a lovely bass I can play this bass for hours on end and It becomes a meditation of sorts. it is a beautifully constructed instrument at an amazing price. very little "tinkering" was needed to make this beauty prefect to play right out of the box - the wider neck did take a short time to get used to - the sonic options are almost endless it has a comfortably contoured body and the Bartolini pickups and hardware are top shelf, the unique tonewood combination serves as a recipe for complex harmonics and epic sustain a seasoned bass player will instantly appreciate ... show more

  • A little work will make it playable.
Take it to a Luthier and have them dress the frets, fix the position of the pots since the aren't in line with the holes, hammer in the frets that are too high, and adjust the bridges. You'll need to tighten all the nuts since they are basically hand tight out of the factory. If only it had the good Aguilar pickups. ... show more

  • great instrument - amazing increase in creativity from having the additional string
I write this as a 6 string bass player so this is an incremental improvement for me, but not the same as if I were jumping straight from a 4 string. (i had to return one to a different seller due to shipping damage and re-purchased from another seller) Pitbull packaged this instrument much better than my previous seller did and this item arrived undamaged. I cannot say enough good things about the bass. I did have to adjust the action slightly due to some string buzz out of the box - it is normal to need to set these up when new and they give you the tools to do it if you prefer not to take it to a technician. Works perfectly now. The electronics sound great. The 7th string is sweet. The action is nice and low yet it doesn't buzz. This is a professional grade instrument and really the first time I have bought one of this quality in my 40 years of playing. This is a niche instrument for sure but if you have love a 5 or 6 string and want to feel more room for creativity, consider getting this one. You never know how long it will stay in production and the next item i could find was close to 3k. ... show more
