It completely covers your torso (compared to actually kayak vests that go halfway down). It felt like I was baking inside of it. I bought a size medium for my 9 year old son who is 5ft.2 and 80 lbs and it wouldn't even meet in the middle to zip. I tried it on and I am 5'4" and 130 lbs and could get it to meet but buckles were not even close to meeting to fasten. We both wear an adult medium in O'Brien and O'Neil jackets but we loved the look and colors of this one, and the price was amazing!
