I searched high and low to find a bag like this. I wanted to pack for a week without having to pay baggage fees. The duffel type bag I had before was ok but I wanted a backpack that would t kill my shoulder like a one strap bag does. I found that several in reviews had made this backpack work for Allegiant Airlines and having one main compartment for packing makes this ideal for air travel. I didn’t want several slots for things like other travel backpacks because I find all those layers and padding make you lose valuable space and difficult to find items in a pinch. It does have a padded laptop compartment and a couple of flat zipper compartments in the front but those don’t take away from the bulk of the storage space. The laptop compartment is open at the top, which concerned me initially, but when the straps to the backpack make it impossible to lose anything out of it. It was quite easy to push those aside to quickly gain access to remove when going through security. Good design. I was able to pack in this bag: In a Big Planet compression packing cube: Shorts x 4 Shirts x 5 Jeans x 1 Dress x 2 Undergarments Swimsuits x 3 Outside of packing cube in main compartment: 2 pairs of sandals 2 glasses cases Deodorant stick 2 full quart size toiletry bags (1 for liquids, 1 for other) Wireless mouse In front zipper: AirPods Sleep mask Change purse Phone In back laptop compartment: Laptop, charging cord, phone charger Pros: -Hold lot of things with the help of a packing cube -Doesn’t have so many pockets where it’s difficult to remember which pocket you put an item. -The lack of different compartments utilizes space well and gives you a roomy packing area. -Easy to carry, the back straps are nicely padded and there is a sternum strap that is adjustable both lengthwise and can move up and down to adjust placement. Also has handles should you want to carry with those. -The material is not too thick so it will fold/bend/compress as you need it but seems sturdy enough to take the wear and tear that comes with traveling. The zippers are a strong plastic, not flimsy, and the pulls are metal. Cons: -The branding embroidery is not attractive so I will possibly put a patch over it if I’m bothered. But this isn’t something I’m going to wear on the daily, only for travel. -I wish the cinching straps were somehow placed inside/beneath the front zipper pockets rather than sewn to the side of the zipper. I can see this putting too much strain on that zipper in the long run. Also that would give even more compression. I did not get stopped by Allegiant gate staff for measuring. I think I may have stuffed it a little too much to meet the size guidelines for personal bag. I think this is because it is a backpack. I will pack lighter next time to prevent the bulging but I was in a hurry and didn’t put much thought into what was going. It fit under the basic economy seat (row 27 cheap seats) but did stick out quite a bit, so if you are a bigger person than I (5’4” medium build female), it might be uncomfortable by taking too much of that precious and limited leg room but it wasn’t too wide at all. Overall, this bag is the best purchase I’ve made for the frequent plane rides we’re making now that the world is returning to normal. No baggage fees? Always. I have only used this bag for one trip. If there are changes in the performance of this bag I will update this review.

I brought this bag as my only piece of luggage for a week in Tokyo in late October and it worked marvelously. First, I love the understated, stylish look of the grey canvas. It might be my favorite piece of luggage I've ever seen, and it's quite comfortable too. It is incredibly lightweight and passed through the carry-on restrictions on China Eastern's economy class with zero problems, while my friends with rolling luggage were pushing the weight limit. I only wish it had a waist belt to help distribute the weight better – then it'd be perfect. It does have a chest strap, though. I imagine that trekking long distances would get tiring, but for shorter walks around airports, train stations, and hotels, it does its job well. This bag holds a lot! It carried everything I needed for the week, and I didn't even pack that minimally. No repeat outfits! The full zipper allows it to open like a suitcase and makes everything easily accessible. Space was a little tight on the return trip with the addition of bulky souvenirs, but if I'd been a little smarter packing the first time they would have fit easily. The construction seems high quality and it held up without any issues. The front pocket was very useful for accessing things quickly. I was very impressed with this bag. I wasn't sure if I could manage packing for a whole week of cool fall weather out of a backpack, but now I'm convinced! I'm going to use this for all my trips from now on.

I went on a one month trip to Asia, and with the compression cubes, I was able to pack around 10 days worth of clothes with one jacket for spring/summer weather and did laundry by hand as I travelled. I also packed a small microfiber towel, compact umbrella, water bottle, a hat, makeup & personal hygiene products & 4 pairs of small/women's sized shoes (2x sandals, one pair walking shoes and one pair flats)! At first when the backpack arrived, it looked small and I was not confident that it would be able to fit everything I need, but I was wrong! Very flexible and the zippers are very durable/well made. I was able to compress everything very well with the cubes, the large cube fits one half of the backpack very nicely with some room and you can stack the smaller one on top. I only took 2 cubes for my trip and used the rest of the space to put oddly shaped/hard objects that didn't need compression. I was still able to take back some souvenirs from my trip despite only bringing this backpack and my purse for the whole month. Of course you have to pack well and roll all your clothes and take things out of their original packaging etc etc but I was overall very impressed with the backpack. It was also very light, around 1.2-1.5 lbs, so I did not exceed the 15 lbs weight limit given on some Asian budget airlines and saved tons of money because of this! The bag paid for itself! I also love how it looked way better/cuter and is easier to organize vs a camping backpack like Osprey, which I used previously for hiking type backpacking. Comparatively for a trip where you are not going to walk 10 miles with the backpack, this one is way better as you can use the space more effectively due to the cubes and the rectangular shape and the fact that it opens sideways like a traditional carry-on. It's an awesome travel buddy. This was my first time without a roller bag and I will not go back to it anymore after this. It's so nice not to have to drag around a bag going up and down subway stairs and places that are crowded. And you don't always have to look for places to store your roller luggage on the go. It's a perfect backpack for someone looking to travel light through Europe or Asia!
