It is as advertised. It's appears to be well made (I've not taken it apart). It functions well in all modes. Given the low price, it's a great buy; but what might be improved for a little higher price. The 6+ long power lead is a little short. It's sometimes difficult to have the machine close to you, forcing one to be creative in supporting it. Given that the power lead is fixed to the machine, there might be a place to hang or wrap it when moving the welder. I don't know what would be involved in making the power lead detachable given that it's flux-core only. I am very pleased with my choice of this unit and I assume that it will continue to work well on the small to moderate welding projects that I have planned.

I had a hf wire feed welder that worked fine, but there was a lot of spatter and the penetration wasn't very good. The first weld was on light metal and looked good. The second was on thicker metal and with the volts and amps turned up, it welded great.

I have used my neighbors Hynade 140 & I decided to purchase my own and took advantage of Black Friday to upgrade to the MTS 155 FX. More options and price were the biggest factors in my decision. I have used it a few times over the last month and it has worked great for me. Easy to use and has done all I have asked it to do. To say I am a beginner is an understatement but it puts up with my mistakes. My biggest complaint is lack of a detailed manual. The manual is 11 pages or so, with 3 pages taking up with the CYTA of what do and not do so you don't get injured & they get sued. SOP for manuals these days. The pictures of how to connect the electrodes are of a different unit then I have. They have an illustration of what comes with unit but nothing expplainig what the various controls or plugs are for. To find that i had to go to their website. That is inconvenient to pull out your phone each time you need to check on something. Also to set up to MIG weld the illustration shows putting ground in either + or - and running a jumper from plug you are not using to another plug in. There is no place to plug in a jumper on mine. Not a big deal, If there is no place for jumper, not an issue but I still like instructions to match what they are instructing me on. The instructions also seem to have been copied not printed. So far the manual is my biggest complaint.

I used to weld a little bit with a stick machine.. not like a pro or anything like that.. I decided to give a chance to this welder after a lot of research.. this is my first flux core machine.. and all i can say is that it is amazing.. super happy with the purchase.. I weld a 3mm steel tubing at 55.. the outcome was amazing and very strong.. very clean.. it was at 110v.. super simple to use.. I know i have to practice more.. but for been my first time.. i can't ask for more..I will upgrade in the future the review.. just get one if you are thinking in starting with flux core..

Arc was was erratic mig and stick welding had extremely hard time starting 7018 rod. Added some inductance to the output and added ferrite chokes around all low voltage wires. Now it works

Great welder for the price. Easy controls for beginners. With the users manual comes a guide for the wire output/amp settings. The welder provides consistent arc and very minor spatter paired with anti-spatter spray. Nothing but positive things to say about this welder. 5/5 stars.

Copper clad aluminum ground wire look I’m not a welder this was purchased because of all the great reviews don’t let my one star take away from all the great reviews but when I purchase an almost $200 welder that’s dual voltage I don’t expect some cheap copper clad grounding wire and the grounding clamp was so flimsy it would bend just squeezing it to open I knew this thing would never last even if it was used a few times a year it’s not going to be a unit that last 10 years even if you only used a few times a year not to mention the wire feed mechanism was all plastic down to even a little clip that you hold a spool line with Was brittle brand new. I decided not to take my chances with it to me all those things I mentioned are not signs of a welder that’s going to last me a year after year after year sounds like the least amount of craftsmanship and quality products were used in order to achieve desired results just long enough for the product to be marketed, used, reviewed and sell as many as possible before new one is out and problem’s start and them failing
