I've been using this light for a few months. I'm in a well light office with overhead lighting that creates pockets of shadows around my eyes. I was looking for a little fill light to reduce the shadows a bit. My face is just under 2.5' from the camera (25 inches), which is a normal distance for most people viewing a monitor. I have the light set on the highest setting but it is barely perceptible. If I close the distance between my face and the camera/lights to about 1.5' it looks much better. I have another video conference light I've been experimenting with and it is much brighter. I like the clean lines of this product and the clip on style is nice. It is clearly made with care. But none of that matters if it doesn't do the job. I cannot recommend this product and frankly would return it if I could. UPDATE The company responded to this review with other things I could try to make the lights brighter. In my situation they didn't work but I can see where they might in others. The company also offered and immediately provided a full refund back to my credit card, even though I was two months past the return window. Super impressive. I changed my review from 3 stars to 5 stars. Based on my experience, if you like it you should try the light. If it doesn't work for your set up, you know you're working with a reputable company which is focussed on making its customers happy. ... show more

Update: I have changed my rating based on my interaction with the vendor and their efforts to "make it right" I changed the USB port from directly into my MacBook Pro to the Anker Hub I have connected to the computer. That noticeably increased the brightness of the lights. They are still not a 5 star from me, but I do feel that they went to extra mile. These lights were recommended to me. I have them on my desk monitor and I am still not really lit well when I am on Zoom's. It may work better if its directly on a laptop that would be closer to your face, but they are only about a foot and a half from my face and I am still not well lit. ... show more

I've used this product for ~6 months now and my remote working colleagues have really noticed a difference! No longer am I sulking in the dark with the "virtual background" (google-meet) being confused where my face starts and stops :) I mount the light on my monitor, plug it into my macbook, and turn it on. The little 4-button controller is within easy reach so I can set the right amount of light for the time of day. 0 complaints; works as expected. A week ago, I did end up breaking the cord through 100% fault of my own... so I found the contact information and sent the manufacturer an email asking how/where I can purchase a replacement cord. I was very pleasantly surprised when they asked for my shipping address and sent me a replacement for no additional money. I rarely write reviews for amazon purchases, but the team at HumanCentric went above and beyond, so it's the least I can do! Thank you! ... show more

This review is for a four pack of the HumanCentric lights, and a review of a cable to extend the length of them that I received from HumanCentric after asking about it. HumanCentric sent me the extension cable for free, but did not request that I post a review. My choice to do so is completely my own. Below is the message I sent Humancentric including my experience with the optional cable. I believe it provides a decent review of the lighting product as well, and have posted it in it's entirety. "Hello all, I received the cable and have been using it though the month of September. First off I want to say thanks for great customer service. The cable arrived before the lights did. Impressive. Here is a quick review. The system itself is extremely easy to setup and also extremely effective. I definitely could have used just two lights. My corner of the office is difficult to light nicely. While the ambient lighting we have is pleasant there is a lamp and window behind me, making it difficult for cameras to do anything but provide a washed out and poorly lit image of my face during meetings. These lights fix that, even with the window blinds cracked to provide a little extra ambient light to the room. For the cable itself, it let me extend four lights across my 24" and 40" monitors easily. I have previously owned a 49" monitor and would not have had problems there either. The length is great. My only real issue is a voltage drop along the cable. Testing using increasingly larger USB-C power supplies there is a clear difference in how bright the first light is compared to the fourth light on the chain. It's a fairly minor nit, there is still plenty of light provided. It is my only real complaint about the system. I have attempted to take photos of this, but it's difficult to capture. That said, I do have one suggestion that I would like to propose. I am a stickler for clean cabling. I like the 'stadium effect' of the lights on top of my monitor, but would love thinner connecting cables. If they could be sleeker and thinner (I understand I just complained about voltage drop, please humor me) and lie flat along the top of my monitor I believe the look could be much cleaner than it currently is. The headphone jack style connectors are probably very cheap, but they are bulky. I would love it if the system was as flat as possible across the top of my monitor. Thanks for great engineering, service and for creating a quality product." ... show more
