I bought this for smash burgers and it works very well. Have also used it to make tortillas (not as good as a press) and as a sandwich press. It has good weight and cleans up very easily. It has a rough finish that should give it good protection from rust. The main body and handle assembly appear to be a single casting so there is not much to break. The grip is made of durable plastic/vinyl and provides protection from heat. I like the fact that it is non-porous (bacteria from raw meat) and easy to clean.

The first one arrived with grinder marks and a damaged surface. Returned for replacement as I paid for new, not used. The product illustrations show a 6-inch diameter, but the product dimensions state 6.5" The actual diameter is 6." I bought this press to use with a Lodge 8" cast iron skillet, the press leaves a 1/2" margin when placed in the bottom a 7-inch press would likely be too big. The finish is rather coarse and will likely stick to ground meat patties until it is well seasoned or smoothed from repeated washings with a chainmail scrubber.
