  • Not for outdoors.
This is listed as an outdoor laser level. You can use it outdoors if you either work in the middle of the night or if you only need the line to project 6 inches. What I am saying is that this is in no way useful as an outdoor product. Inside, no problem. Works as advertised. Self leveling feature is great. I’m hoping the company will read this and offer me a refund as I was hoping to use this exclusively outdoors. I wouldn’t have bought it, but it says outdoors in the product description. Misled. Frustrated. ... show more

  • Useable but far from perfect.
I have used a similar laser level for 6 years or more. The only real complaint is as a “self leveling” laser level I was expecting the laser level to be accurate on any surface that was 5-7 degrees off of level and this laser level to self adjust like the laser level I had previously. This level is only capable to adjust when you have it on a surface that is less than a degree off level or it blinks meaning the surface it’s sitting on is to far out of level for this level to adjust to. I can manage with this but I don’t like that characteristic of this level because it’s more trouble for me to set up. I will say as long as you set it on a surface that is level enough (when unlocked) this level seems to be very accurate. Unless there is something I am overlooking about the setup of this level I would find another level that is able to self find level on a surface that’s more than a 1/2 degree from level. ... show more

  • Works perfect outdoors with the additional laser receiver.
I bought this Heupar Box-1R for outdoor use even after reading the reviews because what most don’t understand is that you need to add the laser receiver by Heupar so that you can use this level outdoors. Basically since it is too bright outside, you’ll need to rely on the beeping sound of the receiver to tell you where the laser beam is pointed...raise the receiver up or down until you hear the beep. The laser level and receiver work perfect together as far as 100 feet for me...I haven’t gone farther than that but should be good to 150ft with the receiver. ... show more

  • Laser line is not bright at all
I bought this with the hopes that I could use it indoors on a remodel I am doing. I saw where people had issues outdoors, but hoped it would be ok indoors. Nope. This thing has the weakest light of any laser I've ever seen. It was just a waste of money. I knew I wasn't getting a top of the line laser. But I hoped it could at least get through one remodel project. It's absolutely useless though. It's good for about 10 ft, sometimes. It seems to be accurate as far as the level goes, but that's not very helpful when you cannot use it beyond 10 ft. SO now I have a $50 paperweight. Yay. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. ... show more

  • Unfortunately very inaccurate outside of self-leveling
Maybe I got a bad one, but it's essentially unusable. In "locked" mode, it is off by a pretty large margin - I used a level to ensure the projector itself was level, but the laser on the wall (horizontal) was OBVIOUSLY not level, by several degrees. I just wanted to use it to hang some pictures, so a small tolerance is fine, but over the course of like 2 feet it drops an inch or so from left to right (again, when the unit itself is perfectly flat). The self-level does appear to work - but, it is not weighted AT ALL which means that moving in the same room, or an adjacent room, causes it to start wiggling for a while. You also can't tilt it up or down at all in self-level or it doesn't work, which means it's pretty useless for trying to level anything above whatever your highest tripod is (and of course, the higher your mount, the more wobbly it is). I tried really hard to accommodate all these flaws - I boosted up the mount in manual level mode to try and offset the inaccuracy of the laser, I tried to adjust my layout for the self-level mode, but there's only so much I can do. Ultimately, it just doesn't work as advertised, and when it only has one function (project a level laser), it's pretty important it does that at the least. ... show more

  • It works, but needs a lot of improvement
I’m just using this to hang pictures and stuff on my walls. The self leveling feature is decent but needs to be on already pretty perfect ground unlike the uneven ground my old building has. My big problem with this is the lock feature. When you lock the leveling mechanism in place it shifts all the lines. I though that once it was level I could just lock in in place and it would stay level, but you move it so much sliding the locking mechanism you end up with useless crooked lines. I really needed the horizontal line more but you cannot tilt up and down in self leveling mode so wherever this thing is sitting on is the night your vertical line will be. I had to put mine on a camera tripod on top of my kitchen counter to get the horizontal line high enough on the wall for what I needed. I tried locking it into place and just tilting up, but since the whole thing goes out of level when you lock it, it’s just kind of useless at that point. You get what you pay for here. Does it’s job good enough, but not great ... show more

  • Bright, Easy to use and durable
I am an amateur, not a Craftsman or Journeyman by any means. But I do take pride in my work whatever I am doing. So I prefer to use tools that help me to achieve those goals. This is my first laser level so I have nothing else with which to compare this item. However from my research I learned that brightness is an issue with some laser levels. This item is bright enough to project a distinct, bright, clean red line even in full lighting conditions. The self-leveling works great if the item is sitting on a somewhat already level surface or tripod using the quarter-twenty threaded base. Enjoy! ... show more

  • Good value.
Works well. Lines up 99.7% with a Bosch we have. Arrived unlocked which is likely not optimal for being thrown around by the postal service. Would buy again. Would not use for anything requiring aerospace precision. Works great for home.
