UPDATE: I had to upgrade my review to 5 stars, this unit is really great, I can always downgrade if I run into any reliability issues in the future but I want to be completely fair, this product rocks and made life easy for me on the job I used it for. Absolutely no complaints, at this point I would buy this again if given the chance for a do over. I wanted to try one of these to help expedite the targeting of the installation of chair railing in a 12 x 22 foot office and thought I would try this particular 360 degree self leveling unit. It has very good visibility indoors and works really well. It is simple to use and get familiar with and I'm sure I will find many more uses for it in the future. I'm unable to speak to the long term reliability as I have only had it a little while so if I experience any issues I update this review. The case holds everything neatly including a place for an extra set of batteries. If I was to be picky I think that the case could have a bit more padding and a handle on one end would be a useful addition to the case itself but again not in any way a deal breaker, in fact the extra room allows me to store my laser measuring unit with it keeping them both tucked away and a little protected and best of all I can keep them together which is a benefit to me when I need to reach for them I know that which ever one I need will be ready for me in this one compact case. I'm a DIYer so it won't get a lot if regular use but if you're in need of one I would recommend this product, despite being a DIYer my time is limited and important to me so having this unit has been a huge time saver and I appreciate that. I can't imagine how the more expensive (some 4 to 5 times more expensive) units from some of the better known name brands could be much better, for now I think for the DIYer they would be a huge waste of money, this product seems to work great and at a much more reasonable price. I'm thankful Huepar is offering this at a much more attainable price point! I suppose one could get into a nitty-gritting discussion about it's overall brightness or how fine a line it produces and some random distance but I can assure those who are wondering - this unit works great and did not cause me any concern the lines were bright and clear and very distinct. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to friends and relatives if they were in the market for such an item. ... show more

My first laser level! I picked this up (along with it's partner the LR-6RG laser detector) to help with installing a rainwater harvesting system. I got the basic one because I didn't need three planes, this simple one (one plane and one vertical) was all I needed. I needed to make sure a second set of tanks were at the right level as the first set. The tanks will be about 25 yards apart so a traditional level would not work. The photos show the overall setup and the laser target board I put in as a reference near the pad for the second set of tanks. The detector worked great in daylight but when the target board was not in direct sun I was still (barely) able to see the laser without the detector. Good brightness! You don't really need a white target board but in this case I was able to see the laser directly which was helpful because I hadn't used a laser level before. I have already used the laser level for another simpler project inside. The laser level has a lot of advantages for many projects compared to a traditional level. ... show more

This unit surpassed my expectations. EASE OF USE: It is bright enough indoors at 30 feet. I was afraid that the line would be fuzzy, but it is crisp and legible. Once you know how to operate the functions, it is easy to use. QUALITY: I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of measurements. I double checked the reading with a high-end digital level and the two readings matched perfectly. Repeatability and Reproducibility was excellent. The nylon carrying case, mount, and card appears to be quality enough for the price. The instruction manual could use some improvement. It was very small and the type font was difficult to see. Unless you are using this level for a commercial application or for measuring long lengths requiring high precision, this unit should be more than enough, especially for home use. I used it for several days, perhaps 2 to 4 hours off and on before I needed to change batteries. This seems about right and I have no complaints about excessive battery use. When I measured my basement's kitchen countertop backsplash, I discovered that there was a 3/4" drop in 12 feet from one end to the other. I used the level to set 22 square feet of 4" travertine tiles on the wall. Since the stone tiles are not perfectly cut, tile spacers are useless. would never attempt to do a backsplash like this again without using this level. It literally saved me in this project. CONS: I would have given it five stars, but I received the unit in the unlocked position. This means that the sensitive pendulums were sustaining unnecessary impact during the shipping process. Since calibration is not covered under warranty, I might have received a unit that was stressed. There simply is no way to tell, although it seems accurate for now. RECOMMENDATIONS: YES, I would certainly recommend this to any homeowner or semi-professional for occasional use. This unit cost far less than less than big name brand laser levels, and given proper care and handling, should provide many years of use. ... show more
