I began using the standard vanilla (non-gluten free) version of Huel on 08.20.2018. I just this morning opened my 2nd two bag purchase (I have paid for them all, no freebies.). I am whole heartedly endorsing this product. Is it perfect, no. But the world of powdered meals/supplements never is. What this product is, for my money, is damn near perfect/ideal. The vanilla flavor is enough to taste it but not overpowering. The base sweetness is the same, sufficient but not too much. It takes additions well to make the flavors more varied and enjoyable. It is tasty with just water and nothing else. All that being said, its a powdered drink and yes it can be "gritty, thick, pasty" if you don't add sufficient water to thin it down. I have found it acceptable in a pinch just mixed in the supplied shaker, but I primarily have prepared shakes with my recently "unmothballed" Nutra-Bullet power mixer. The results are infinitely better out of some sort of blender. It reduces the much complained about gritty texture straight out of the shaker by unscientifically maybe 70%, we will just go with A LOT. Its quite smooth and milkshake like in consistency when blended with 18 oz of water and some ice cubes. Huel is quite filling and satisfying for a good period of time for me after drinking. I always gave up on the soy or whey based protein drinks because they always left me "craving" something more. Being just protein my body got no carbs or fats cravings satisfaction. I really like and believe the balanced nutrition that comes from the Huel mix keeps my body fed and satiated longer. I likely have a slower metabolism than some, that being said a 500-550 cal serving of Huel will keep me full for up to 4 hours if I am not overly active (office style desk job most days) less obviously if exercise or activity is increased. I have been using Huel at least two times a day with a traditional dinner or at times three times a day as the only nutrition source. Either way I have felt fully fed throughout the day. Huel has also jumpstarted something I have been desiring to try but been hesitant to do. Vegetarianism. At least part time... Huel makes it easy to eat Vegetarian/Vegan. No fuss no muss. I have added a Green superfood powder additive to each meal as well. I have lost weight on Huel as well. In the 14 days so far I have lost 7 pounds. I have been averaging 1800-2000 calories a day and have not felt deprived in anyway. I would recommend Huel to those on the fence about it. Understand that its a risk, you may not like the taste at all. You may not be able to get past the texture no matter how you prepare it, etc. Its not cheap per say as a whole, and if you hate it, it is $70 down the drain. So its a gamble i suppose. But with some creativity on additives and preparation, I think most people will enjoy it and get a lot of good out of using it. Good luck!

My brother swears by this stuff and he has lost quite a bit of weight with it (he practically lives off of it) so I thought I would give it a try. My first reaction when I mixed it with water was that it was not great, but tolerable. I was doing this for health reasons, not because it tasted great. On the second go-around I used vanilla soy milk instead water to make it taste a little better. I use about 1.5 scoops of Huel along with about 10 ounces of soy milk and the taste is really growing on me. It kind of tastes like oats without the sweetener. It is kind of clumpy, but I just drink it quickly and it's not a big deal. I'm actually starting to like it. The nice thing about this drink is that it is a quick nutritious meal before my morning workout. It gives me the energy I need to complete my workout without being too much. It is also nice because I know exactly how many calories I am getting. It's also super cheap. I think it's about $2 per meal. So far I am replacing 1 to 2 meals a day with this drink and it keeps me full for quite a while. I may try going a couple of weeks on a Huel only diet in July and see how that goes. If I do, I will come back and update my review. TLDR: The taste is not bad. Just use soy milk instead of water. It's great as a pre-workout drink. Keeps me full for quite a while. It's a cheap yet nutritious replacement meal.

Seams like a great product so far, tastes mild and nutty, but I can definitely taste the Stevia. A few words about some of the other reviews and their dislike/ taste reviews: If you come to this from eating a standard American diet, with lots of artificial flavor and added sugar/sweetener, I am not surprised that you would not be able to taste anything, slightly sweet or vanilla, in this product. The taste is subtle to be sure. If on the other hand you eat food mostly the way nature intended it, are eating sugary items only on occasion (as opposed to a daily double chocolate macchiato venti) you will taste the sweetness. The mixed up product gets pretty thick, and I don't find the consistency nor the taste unpleasant at all, however I can distinctly taste the stevia sweetener in this, and am not particularly fond of that taste. I might try the non flavored variety next time. And to address some of the mentions about gastro intestinal upset, I had no problems whatsoever, and I have had the full 3 scoop serving once a day for the past 4 days. I do feel that at times it makes me burp though. Again, I think there is a good bit of fiber in the product and it is in a large part made from peas, and depending on your digestive health this could affect you...(peas are a legume, and you know what can happen if you eat a lot of beans) As to the dietary efficiency (i.e. if you are using it as a workout supplement, or to loose weight etc), I cannot comment. I am using it as a meal replacement when on the road or working on deadline projects where I don't have the time to go make lunch, and it has answered well for that purpose so far!

I am quite pleased with the vanilla flavor - it is very subtle but tasty. (Note if you are expecting a sugary ice cream sundae you may be disappointed). I have not added any fruit to the mixture, but it lends itself well to adding berries or chocolate flavored protein powder. The texture is a bit grainy, like a blended bowl of oatmeal, but in my opinion, this makes the shake feel more like a meal, more satisfying. I am not a large person so I am using less than a full serving as a meal (about 350-400 calories), and I stay full for 3-4 hours or more after this meal. Another plus is that I have not experienced any unpleasant digestive side effects that may occur with other meal replacements. My only complaint is that it is difficult to determine how many scoops are needed to reach the 127 grams for a full serving of 500 calories. It would be helpful if the scoop was equal to some even fraction of the serving size so that 1 serving (or portions of a full serving) would be easier to formulate. I have used scale and a larger scoop from another meal replacement to approximate my serving size.

I really hoped I would like this, and went into it with an open mind expecting it would be marginal but still edible. It's NOT good. The flavor itself was super mild and not too bad, but the texture is what I couldn't handle. If you like drinking sandy water this might be right up your alley, but I couldn't get it down. I admit I did not try blending it with fruit or any other stuff, because to me the point was I didn't have to. I did work very hard to get it as smooth as possible. Really disappointed that it was so yucky.

I've been drinking(?) Huel for 4 years - this is unquestionably the best product out there for full, balanced, healthy meal replacements. I don't use this for dieting, but rather for quick or on-the-go meals. It tastes good for what it is. I recommend using your preferred milk with it rather than or mixed with water, but it's fine with only water. Colder the better. Blender made is highly recommended over the shaker cup when at home. Huel saves me when I only have a 15 minute break between work at lunchtime.

Great product. Definitely filling. I often make 500 cal portion for work and drink half for breakfast and the rest as a snack. 3 stars because I find stevia to be vile. (Will buy unflavored next). Cold brew coffee and powdered peanut butter do cover the stevia well, however. BTW, coarse grind 12 oz. of your favorite coffee (or use it however it comes ground), pour into a 1 gallon pitcher, fill with water (we use spring), store in fridge over night. Pour through strainer. Then pour again through metal mesh coffee filter (like from your coffee pot). And stop wasting your money on expensive coldbrew from elsewhere!

I’ve been using Huel for months. In a minute you’ll have the healthiest breakfast, lunch, or dinner you could fix for yourself. Taste is basically vanilla oatmeal, and it’s surprisingly good. So many ways to integrate elsewhere: pancakes, muffins, etc. I’ve really been successful in maintaining my weight and my energy/body is absolutely feeling the positive effects. Pricey at $60 a month with the subscription, but I find two bags at two shakes a day lasts me about a month and good health is worth the price.
