abunda_amazon_reviews Great quad. Can't say enough good things about it. Not a 4K camera, wish it were, but for everyday flying around the area it works fantastic. One issue I see is the Headless mode. It doesn't seem to work correctly if selecting it more than about 15 feet away??? If you select it within that range it works properly. The Hubsan 501-S is now shipped with new firmware, making it a 501-SS which adds follow me and orbit modes. Their is also another controller that can use the way point mode but it's expensive so I haven't tested that mode. Great battery life. I stop before the battery falls too low and get about 17 minutes which is great. Holds itself well in the wind but you must remember it is a very light quad. Return to home works good but not within 1 foot as some reviewers wanted. Brightest leds I have seen. Nice feature is that you can change modes, Blinking, steady on and off while in the air. Very nice. Batteries are propitiatory but they are cheap and charge fairly quickly. I bought an adapter for my big charger so I can balance them properly. FPV quality was horrible but the transmitter has adjustable frequency to tune it to the quad downlink transmitter and it fixed this. Supposedly this quad will go pretty far before loosing the link but I'm in a pretty closed area of about 200x600 yards which is farther than I can see. The screen is very small but thanks to the stable quad, I can take my eyes off it to see the telemetry values. Maybe for those of you with younger eyes won't have that problem. Lots of parts. I have build my own quads for quite awhile and it just isn't worth it to me as much as I like to build. For the price of a flight controller I can buy the Hubsan and fly just as good. Their are too many good quads to choose from these days which makes it hard to decide. Bottom line!!!!! Learn to fly in manual mode! I see it too often when someone buys a quad thinking they can take it out of the box and send it in the air.... and then it's gone or broke. Read the manual!!!! Lots of tips to flying and having fun instead of breaking it.;;February 23, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Long flying times and pretty good video from this quad. Buy it!;;trouble61;;;I bought this drone less than a month ago. I was very impressed with its performance for 2 weeks up until last weekend. I had been flying it off of my balcony to get shots of NYC and I had had no problem with this, however, last Saturday evening, the sunset was nice so I decided to get some shots. The aircraft did fine initially, but then it started spinning in a really wide spiral (circling about 2 or 3 blocks). I somehow managed to gain some control and pull it back in to my balcony safely even tho it had almost already hit a building and power lines. I decided to take it out to an open field and test it again on Sunday. This is when the scariest thing happened. I launched it from an empty baseball field in a park I had flown it a few times before with no problems. It was fine until I went up to about 35 meters in GPS mode. The transmitter suddenly lost all control over the drone and the drone started climbing up to 100 meters and making a gigantic spiral of I would have to say more than 10 Queens, NYC blocks uncontrollably. I had no luck trying to lower it and I decided to hit the RTH switch, which did nothing. This went on for about 5 minutes until I couldn't see or hear the drone and the screen on the transmitter had gone blank. I turn the transmitter off because I read in emergency you can turn off the transmitter and the drone will return home. Well it did, kind of, after about 3 minutes it was just hovering about 30 feet above the baseball backstop. It then landed on the top of the backstop, I then climbed up there and retrieved it. This all started after about 6 to 8 successful flights with good pictures and footage recorded. So the drone started off great, and then had a glitch so serious and so scary that I refuse to pay for this product or fly any Hubsan brand drones ever again. Sorry to Hubsan for the bad publicity, but if this thing would have hurt anybody or damaged any property, I would have felt very ashamed of myself. I would only recommend this drone if you have extra money to throw into the wind and a huge open place to fly where nobody is in danger of being hit by it. Also, the photos and video get worse as you go higher, mainly due to the fact the camera is built into the body of the drone, so all of the bumps and pitches that the drone itself incurs is being recorded just like that. If you are looking for clean shots and clean footage, save up more for a better, more stable drone with a gimbal.;;August 29, 2018;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;This drone can go AWOL in GPS Mode;;Byron;;;Wonderful explorer, aerial, or what have u quadcopter this thing is not bad for the price!
