I run 2 additional monitors from my laptop and always hated having to look down at the laptop screen while working. I use the laptop strictly for video conference calls and my instant messaging for work. The other two monitors are my primary monitors but found myself always looking down at the laptop screen. Sometimes (though rarely) I want to still lay down or sit up in bed and work on my laptop, this gives me the ability to do that and still allow my laptop to breath while it sit across my legs or wherever comfortable for you. Other than that I use my adjustable ones like this, especially on my desk, where I can tilt the keyboard towards me and adjust the height as well. I know this is a monitor stand but I actually got it to set my printer on so that it wouldn't be on the floor until I finish the rest of my office. I was a little worried at first cause of course the printer is slightly larger and was over the edges but it's been the perfect fit for me

Wanted this for my FT-991A and itโ€™s a perfect fit. The one thing I will say, the product itself doesnโ€™t seem to be really super sturdy or feel well built. When tightening the legs I felt as if I tightened them too much Iโ€™d break the stud right off. Since my radio doesnโ€™t weigh much, nor do I plan to move this around at all, for my needs itโ€™s good ... show more

    • Quality Issues May Be in the Past

A number of reviewers stated the quality and sturdiness of the product is not up to snuff. Most of those reviews are fairly old, and it appears to me that these issues are no longer a problem. The stand came well packaged and organized, and even came with assembly instructions (which really aren't needed). The legs fit tightly on the platform, and although I can feel a bit of "give" in the legs (where the two cylinders fit together with the ability to slide them to different lock positions), but when I put it on a flatsurface, I could not feel any movement. The feet are also nicely padded with relatively soft plastic. I did not measure it (some reviewers claimed that it was smaller than advertised), but it fits my 15.6 inch tablet (with some overlap) sits solidly on it. The steel platform is fairly thick, and I can flex it only with great effort. The legs also appear to be rather thick steel tubes, and the "buttons" that hold the height fit well. If there are no concerns about fitting things underneath it, I would certainly recommend it. It is inexpensive but not cheaply made. ... show more

These aren't glamorous items but sure are quick and handy soutions if you need stands / shelves for gear. I use these for monitor stands and also to stack USB drives that are attached to my network with power supplies underneath.
