Top Amazon Reviews

  • Exceptional Value
UPDATE: Another reviewer here mislabeled this item as a "Chrome Tablet" and went on to state that this is not a Chromebook. For clarity, it unquestionably has Chrome OS installed as the operating system. A computer that runs on Chrome OS is... (are you ready for this?) a Chromebook. That includes this tablet. I did a lot of research for the best value on an HP Chromebook x2 11 tablet, and I came across this deal for a refurbished unit. At such a low price, I figured I'd take a chance, and I'm so glad I did. The like-new tablet arrived a week earlier than promised, and I've been using it a few weeks now. The tablet arrived well packaged and in excellent condition, with no indication that it was previously used. The accessories included the charger, the magnetic OEM cover and keyboard, and the HP stylus pen with two extra tips. An owners manual was not included. The small-brick charger is 1-1/8" thick, 1-1/2" wide, and 3-3/4" in length. It has a permanently attached 6-ft USB C cord on one end, and a removable 3-ft "Mickey Mouse plug" power cord on the other end. It took an hour to fully charge the tablet when I first received it. The charger works between 100v and 240v, and it provides 45W. I replaced it with a much more manageable Anker 735 USB C wall charger, and an Anker 100-watt USB C cable. In tablet mode, it feels like a high-end, quality product. When using the keyboard, it's not as sturdy as a laptop. If you use the keyboard on your lap, you may struggle to find the perfect position, and you'll get some keyboard flexing. That aside, it works fine. The keyboard is not backlit. The magnetic cover and keyboard easily self-align, snap together, and stay put in normal use. I'm impressed with how well the modular unit functions. The wireless-charged stylus sometimes gets knocked off its magnetic perch while handling the tablet, so it's best to store it in a safe location when out in the wild. The fingerprint reader doubles as the power button. It consistently works well, although the reader only works in accessing the unit from sleep mode. After a restart, you can log in only with your Google password, unless you set up a separate PIN. If you use a complicated password, the PIN option is a godsend. There is no way to log in with the fingerprint reader after a restart. If I install prepaid Android apps directly through the tablet's Play Store connection, it doesn't recognize that I already paid for some of the apps. When I install the same Android apps through the Google Play Store using my signed-in Chrome browser, then the prepayment is recognized and the apps work as expected. I'm having a minor Netflix issue. I installed a SanDisk 128 GB microSD card, enabled it and formatted it in the tablet's settings, and then went into the tablet's app settings to give Netflix permission to access the card. However, the settings within the Netflix app will not recognize the external storage, and will only download shows to the internal storage. Using different microSD cards and rebooting multiple times has made no difference. Maybe it's because the Netflix app is for Android, but the Chrome OS Web Store does not have a Netflix app option for Chromebook. Battery life has been well in excess of one day in moderate to heavy use. The built-in speakers are just okay. A Bluetooth headset or external speakers are needed if you want better sound. There is no 3.5 mm auxiliary jack, but there are two USB C connectors. The volume rocker is easy to use and works well. This unit includes a microSD tray, but NOT a SIM tray. I'm quite happy with this purchase, and I wouldn't think twice about ordering another. ... show more

  • Tickled to Death! Perfect condition!
No complaints! looks like new, excellent build quality, and pen included. For 179.99 what a steal. I'm getting excellent battery life. 10 to 11 hours. 1 month update 11/23/2022. What can I say, it's gone up $55 since I bought mine, sand that is still a great deal. Some of the reviews online say the keyboard will click the trackpad if you twist it. OK then done twist it! How stupid, its an OK keyboard. It works, the key click feedback could be better but its just an OK keyboard. The tablet itself has amazing fit and finish. However a tad bit heavy, but well worth the trade off. It's fast, it runs all the games I like with no issues or lag. I've yet to find anything from the Play Store it won't run. Pairs quickly with my mouse, phone for a hotspot, anything... It's been several years since I've had a Chromebook and there are so many new features that I've hardly scratched the surface on learning them. Still giving this 5 stars. ... show more

  • Nice value tablet
I also bought as $180. And it is worth the money. Very nice feel when you hold it. Screen is good. It often says it got rebooted unexpectedly but I am not sure if that is the table or Chrome OS. You can't expect the pen quality like galaxy tab. It's basically just a pointing device. Not for professional drawing. Mine came with very little dent on the screen but I am fine for the price. Putting a tempered glass hid it anyway. Overall, it's a good table. ... show more

  • Detachable keyboard didn't even work
It's a cute little toy, but your money is better spend on an iPad or real laptop. The detachable keyboard didn't even work as shipped. Not bothering to return it, as my only purpose in buying this thing was to hack around on it, so I was able to hook up a real-sized keyboard and a mouse via USB-C. As a machine to do anything actual useful, this looks like junk. ... show more

  • Perfect computer for the home use
I always kept the Windows laptops and Android tablets for home use. The laptop had always been for a "heavier lifting" - scanning, printing, dealing with web sites that do not render well in a tablet mode, photo editing, etc. This is the first test of Chrome laptop for me. In general: - with the exception of a real "heavy lifting" - i.e. Photoshop, etc. - Chrome laptop fulfills 99% of needs that require both Android tablet and Windows laptop... - it's heavier than Android tablet of the same size making it not as convenient as e-book reader but still manageable in the configuration like this one - the "bulkiness" of this laptop in a tablet mode is excused by the exceptional battery life on top of all laptop-like features. I have to admit that I use Microsoft Surface Pro as a work computer for many years and this particular Chrome laptop has been a choice influenced by that experience. No regrets at all. It's not 64-bit Windows machine performance-wise but with 8GB of RAM I have no performance complains for any tasks I put in front of it. The screen has a very decent quality for all reasonable applications. Chrome OS is not as sophisticated as Win 12 but it's also feather light and extremely quick to boot. Also, as Unix derivative, it's not prone to collect as much garbage over time as Windows. So far I highly recommend this model (that is not available on Amazon it seems anymore). Also, Amazon Refurbished met the expectations - everything really came in a mint condition, not much different from a brand new OEM item with the exception of generic cardboard that went into recycle right away anyway. Well worth saving $200 compared to the list price. ... show more
