My HP printer has always worked flawlessly, and I've never ever had an issue with replacing an ink cartridge. Until now. Apparently, HP has changed the ink cartridges to be zoned for different locations. If your new cartridge has a "Z10" on it, you must have your printer updated by HP. I purchased a set of four ink cartridges, but when I inserted the black one, my printer told me it was "incompatible." I returned it and ordered another, only to see the same message. After 90 MINUTES on the phone with HP tech support, I learn that you must replace all four cartridges with the "Z10" cartridges (whether or not they are empty) and then have HP "reset" your computer. It's very annoying that they don't tell you this in advance. Love the printer. Hate the way they've handled this. ... show more

    • HP Firmware Updates Ruined Printer, Only Generic Inks Work Now!

I have been trying for over a month to get HP cartridges to work in my printer. The only solution is to use cartridges that have been refilled at a local printer ink refill shop. They told me that in 2017 HP changed the firmware update, so these generic replacement cartridges would no longer work. Apparently they're a little scheme backfired. Spent five hours on the phone, was sent four different black cartridges, one at a time over a four week period, none of the worked. HP was successfully sued in court, they lost and then sent out new firmware, but didn't push the patch through. They told me I need to buy a new printer. If you are having problems with your replacement cartridges, it's not the cartridges, it's the firmware. This was intentional, their tech support person admitted this, telling me that "at this point I am instructed to tell you that this is a hardware issue and you need to buy a new printer". I took out the new cartridge and put the old cartridge back in and the printer worked fine. Same thing happens with all of the color cartridges ... show more

Be very careful about purchasing HP cartridges that say they work with OfficeJet Pro 8600. The newer cartridges no longer work. When I finally got an answer from HP, it was via a private message on their Community Board. Apparently they don't want customers to know, because they are still advertising and selling them as working with this model. Here is a quote: "I regret to inform you that your unit has reached End of Support Life as this product was introduced 08/29/2011, which means that HP no longer has access to recovery discs, hardware or software for your system. The last day of support for this unit was 12/31/2017." ... show more

I bought these without even looking at reviews because I have never had a problem when buying authentic ink before. I buy in advance for my offices, because we can't run out of ink. I am receiving the incompatible error message as well with my Officejet Pro 8610. I, too, am past the date that I can return them. I did all the little steps they suggest. It is the cartridge - not unclean connections, or needing to reset. I can put my old cartridge back in with no problem and it will continue to work. I am really disappointed, in Amazon AND the seller, that for certain office supplies that most people try to have on hand BEFORE they run out, like INK, don't have a longer return policy. Guess I am making a local stop this afternoon. Thank God I got the warning that my ink was low and just decided to change the cartridge now. At least there is enough in my old cartridge to tide me over. ... show more

    • Bought for our business - IN BULK - and NONE of them work! Past the return window - NOT HAPPY!

Our business bought 14 XL cartridges for our HP Officejet Pro 8100 printers last Aug 9th, 2017. It is not uncommon for us to stock up on supplies, so this entire order was not utilized until just last week. EVERY SINGLE CARTRIDGE is bad. None of our printers recognize these bad cartridges! This was an order that was fulfilled by Amazon directly/Amazon Prime. Of course - we are past the return window so we are out $303.86 and have 14 full XL cartridges that will not work in any of our HP Officejet Pro 8100 printers. I see other recent feedback from others stating the same issue. How can this be allowed? The cartridges are slightly different in the print on the labels on the side of the cartridges. The bad cartridges state "For use only in US and Canada Z10". Our other GOOD cartridges do not say this - our GOOD cartridges say (in this same space on the label) "Intended for single use only". Looks like we will have to start buying our cartridges locally again and paying more. But at least we know they will WORK... ... show more

This cartridge won't work in my printer. It says "incompatible cartridge" on my HP Officejet Pro 8600. I have purchased other cartridges that came from another vendor and they said "For use only in Asia-Pacific" and those didn't work either. This cartridge DID say for US and Canada but was incompatible with my printer. I ordered them several months ago to have spares on hand so am out of the return window and out the money. I ordered new 950XL's from Costco and they work just fine in my printer. I will never order cartridges from Amazon again. ... show more

Gave this ink cartridge 2 tries. Ordered one; printer errored out saying it was incompatible. Ordered a replacement; same deal. Printer errored out saying the ink cartridge is incompatible. I have the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus; Model CM750A. Not sure why this 950XL just won't play nice. I ordered the 951XL color cartridges and didn't have any issues with those. Not sure if I'll try the regular 950 to see if that will work. ... show more

I purchased 3 of these inks for my HP 8610 printer. I did not need to use them before now since I had one already in use, however now that I need to replace the cartridge I am getting a message saying that these inks are incompatible. I tried another of the batch and the same message. I cannot understand why this has happened since the information on Amazon and the box indicates that the ink is for the printer. I ordered from amazon previously same inks and they worked. They were sold directly by Amazon so I will try to contact them to see if they will replace them. ... show more
