You don't get everything that they list on their product. I wanted a cd player and it had it listed but I didn't get it. The company said that I could send it back, but it has a nice big screen so I kept it. It seems to work fine.

What's most important is the reset this laptop. Many of the setting were off such as the time, time-zone, date and central standard time. I'm still not sure if I've made the necessary corrections.

Great value. If it came with an SSD hard drive it would have been an amazing value. I upgraded to a 500gb Samsung EVO 870 SSD hard drive ($60) and use the 1TB HD as a backup/external if I need it. The SSD makes a noticeable difference, as a bonus it weighs less & Battery Power is better with the SSD. Getting the SSD makes this machine an amazing value. I love how big it is and how the keyboard lights up. It was extremely easy to set up. I didn't realize it was refurbished when I purchased it. I could have sworn the ad said NEW. I decided not to send it back though because I should have read everything so that was on me.

I have had an Acer laptop that was getting old and I needed a replacement. I ordered a "Renewed" HP 17" Laptop to replace it. The laptop is beautiful and is so easy to type on. Even the keyboard lights up while you are typing. Using the "Plugable USB 2.0 cable, I was able to transfer 60GB of files from the old computer to the new one. This is a terrific product and I am very happy with its purchase. I am editing this review today, 2/4/2021, because I have run into a problem that was unexpected. I am an Amateur Radio Operator and I use a device called a ThumbDV by Northwest Digital Radio. This looks like any thumb drive with the only exception being that it is transparent. This device requires Serial Ports (1-4). Believe it or not, this computer does not have any Serial Ports. When I checked the Device Manager, there was no indication of any com ports. I spent hours on the phone with HP and went through 3 levels of Tech Support and they couldn't help me either. So in retrospect I say this: "All things being equal, this is a great computer, but if you are a Ham Radio Operator and want to use the ThumbDV, avoid purchasing this model HP Laptop - 17-by3053cl. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. *Update #2* I received my replacement pretty quickly after the first one arrived with a broken screen- which was great because I was starting classes that week...However, I have had this computer less than a month and it has crashed every single day that it has been in use! I will be working on a paper or a test and BAM! Blue screen, error message, and automatic restart. We have tried completely uninstalling Windows and reinstalling as Microsoft suggests, but this has not helped the situation. I am now contacting the seller again to see what can be done. This is ridiculous. I am seriously considering just getting my money back at this point because I'm starting to doubt these computers come from where they say they do. How can there be so many problems??? *Update* Seller accepted my return, and I was very surprised to find that out that they had already got my replacement lined up and shipped before even receiving the old computer back! I thought I was going to have to wait! ... I am very grateful for this since I start my classes on the 11th- and the new computer is scheduled (so far) to be delivered on the 12th! 🤞 Hopefully this one is as beautiful as first one and doesn't have screen damage! 🤞 I will update again when it gets here! Beautiful computer- I was so excited when it finally arrived!... I start classes on the 11th so I really needed this to get here quickly so that my son (who is doing school from home) and I weren't fighting over time using the desktop! However, I was surprised to see that there was damage to the lcd screen. It looks like a pressure mark in the top left. It doesn't seem to affect the image when the computer is turned on, but I can see it every time the computer loads. I understand that this is a refurbished computer, but I feel like for $540+, obvious things that affect the screen shouldn't be present issues. I don't necessarily want to RETURN the computer because I really like it- I just want the screen fixed or get an exchange....I contacted the seller about the issue, so I'll update my review based on what happens, I guess. ... show more
