Description

In 1969, Douglas G. Howard set out to solve this dilemma: how can you eliminate blemishes in wood finishes and restore the original color and luster without removing any of the existing finish? Unable to find an answer at his local hardware store, he went to work in his garage to create his own product. His goal was to make something that would be much more than a surface treatment, yet nothing like a stripper or a refinisher. The key was to develop a formula that could clean and polish the surface, penetrate the finish with stain, and leave the original finish intact. The end result was Restor-A-Finish, Doug Howard's first in what would become a complete line of wood care products. For over 40 years, Howard's Restor-A-Finish has been a standard in the antique industry. Because Restor-A-Finish preserves the original wood finish it also helps preserve its authenticity and value, whereas stripping the finish may literally strip the piece of its value. Almost any existing wood tone, from a Birdseye Maple to a Jacobean, can be closely matched using one of the nine available finish colors. Trying it on just about everything with a traditional wood finish, antique dealers, refinishers, and homemakers have found it to be a safer and easier alternative to stripping and refinishing. Scratches, oxidation, white heat rings, watermarks, smoke damage, and sun fade simply disappear. • This stuff works!
Size Name: 8 oz Color: Walnut
This is like a scuff mark eraser in a can! It works so well! It does not fix deep scratches, just light on the surface scuff marks, water marks, and discolored parts of the wood. It restores the wood and makes it super shiny! This product does have a strong scent, so I use a mask, turn on the fan, and open the window. ... show more

  • Works Great
Size Name: 8 oz Color: Neutral
Kitchen cabinets were slightly damaged from steam from the coffee maker. Doors are a veneer and cannot be sanded much and is tough to refinish. This worked great. Lighter color is better than the darker colors.

  • Amazing!
Size Name: 8 oz Color: Golden Oak
Easy to use! Beautiful job! Never would have had my kitchen cabinets done a few years ago if I had known abut this product. would have done them myself. (did cabinets in both bathrooms & will be touching up some bedroom furniture after that)

  • It's a good quick fix.
Size Name: 8 oz Color: Golden Oak
Got this to fix up an old oak table. It definitely improved things, although I can still see the rings and dings if I look at it from a particular angle, and there is one spot where I guess the finish was just gone that this isn't going to remedy. I will eventually have to sand the table down. Still it was a drastic improvement from where it was. Pretty amazing. ... show more

  • Color match was perfect for my application
Size Name: 8 oz Color: Golden Oak
This product is easy to use and does an admirable job of fixing minor flaws in the finish. I always try Restor a finish before I refinish an item.

  • Gives a nice shine
Size Name: 8 oz Color: Mahogany
My aging Ethan Allen solid wood desk got a nice shine to it after one application. It was easy to work it. Didn’t remove scratches but that requires some extra work like using a steel wool but I didn’t get that far into it.

  • Game changer

Terrific product for refreshing wood finish easily. Love this stuff so much. I’m a designer and deal with furniture for a living.

  • Really works great but much darker than expected.
Size Name: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1) Color: Maple-Pine
This restor product really works great for dried out older finishes and covering blemishes. However, I’m beginning to think all colors are exactly the same. I had some of the golden oak I restored the top of this old cabinet with. But wanted to retain the light walnut on the sides, keeping the two-tone look. So per the color chart on this product I ordered the maple pine. Suggested for lighter finishes. The result looks the same as the golden oak, and almost as dark as the Old English mahogany on the bottom. 😢 My bad. I know I should have tested it first. But after waiting several days to get it (no local stores had anything but the golden oak) I was anxious to get this project finished. And didn’t want to wait for a return/replace. I should have ordered the natural finish. But at this point, like I said above, I’m wondering if all finishes are really the same color. 🤷🏼♀️ Don’t be a Fran, test in an inconspicuous spot before slapping it on. And wait more patiently. ... show more
