    • Superbly built American Wall Regulator key wound clock!
I could not believe Amazon had this on here!! It arrives packed to the 10's...so much so you really should read over the info FIRST as there are foam blocks tucked up in the striker areas. You will need a molly/hollow wall fastener or as I discovered in my case, I hit concrete!! So thankfully I had a concrete drill and some Tap-Cons screws. It is not overly heavy but I would guess it is around 30 lbs or so. Once you read the manual and you have removed all the packing material from inside the clock and you use the key look at the time FIRST- and if it is easier to set the time BEFORE winding, then do so, otherwise wind each key hole tight (read the directions). It will run a full 7 days. There is a little screw at the pendulum base that allows you to speed up or slow the movement down (100% German clockwork movement). Tremendous value and 3 different chimes plus you can switch it to silent (Whittington, St.Michael, Westminster) you can see the selection on the dial- put your glasses on! After a week or so, you become aware of the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and of course - on the hour. Of all the sites I shopped Amazon was best w/ Prime! ... show more

This beautiful clock looks better in real life than the picture; it's stunning. I was concerned the chime would be too loud and could be annoying, but the volume is just right and it's a joy to hear the chiming. This clock looks and sounds so good! Excellent quality, very happy with the purchase.

Clock aficionado/avid collector here. I added this clock to my collection about a year ago and I'm glad I did. Firstly, let me say that the photos do not do this clock justice. The case shows very good craftsmanship and beautiful details, my favorite being the scallops at the top. The dial and the hands, likewise, are gorgeous. The movement is top notch -- a Kieninger, triple chime with long, side mounted chime bars. The longer chime bars lend a deeper, more resonant tone to the chimes. Once regulated, it keeps precise time. I am really proud of this clock and am glad I made the investment. If taken care of properly, this clock is a lifetime piece. I will point out one issue on which Howard Miller's rather generic instructions did not touch. When you hang this clock, you must secure a second, lower screw through the hole in the beat plate beneath the pendulum. If not, the clock WILL swing when you open the case door due to the heavy side-mounted chime mechanism. The instructions do not mention that this hole in the beat plate is there for this reason. Just hanging it from the top hole is not sufficient. Take care to be certain that you've secured the clock in both places. Mechanical clocks do not like sudden motion, so the more securely you've fastened the clock to the wall, the better the clock will function. This is entirely too expensive a clock to damage from carelessness. Howard Miller needs to take greater care to make sure their patrons understand this, especially for their more expensive clocks. ... show more

I bought this clock for my wife's and my 50th wedding anniversary. We could not love it any more than we do. The chimes or beautiful, with a choice of 3 different "songs". You also have a choice of turning of the chimes completely. The clock ticks so very softly that I can hardly hear it. It took a couple of days to regulate it so that it kept good time... an easy adjustment with a simple nut on the pendulum shaft. ... show more

    • A nice heirloom quality clock.
My father received this as an award some years ago and he gave it to me. I love this clock. It keeps accurate time, and it will continue to tick for about a week when fully wound. However, if it is even slightly off center, it will run a tad fast/slow-- make sure it is absolutely 100% level. I've had this for about 12-15 years or so, and it still runs like...wait for it... clockwork. ... show more
