  • Very Good Beginner Bass Lessons, with a Quirk
Format: Paperback
I'm really enjoying these lessons (half way through the book). Clear instructions, good exercises, nice pace. BUT, the "quirk" is that the book was printed assbackwards! It starts on page 70 and ends on page one. Not sure how this one got by quality control, but I've adapted to it.

  • Sax Pleyer Picks up the Bas
Format: Paperback
I have played Soul/Blues by ear on Alto for decades. Recently decided to try Bass for late at night. This book is as close to perfect music instruction as you can get. It's gently paced, intuitively instructive. The tracks are very well done. The Tablature is big enough to be read. Even if you don't plan on playing the Blues, this is still as good as you can get for beginning Bass instruction. The cost is laughably minimal. All the Troy Nelson Music Bass books appear to be quite well done. ... show more

  • Good place to start
Format: Paperback
I'm a guitar that wanted to learn the basics of playing bass. I don't aspire to be a great bass player but I do want to be able to fill in in a pinch, and this is quite helpful for that, and it did help me understand so things on the guitar I hadn't realized consciously

  • Workes well with a DAW
Format: Paperback
I love this book. I've ordered the guitar, keyboard, and drums versions as well. Perhaps I'll review those when I get to them. One of the things I love about this is that I was able to import the audio into my DAW and loop the lesson file. The author used integer tempos like 80, 90, 75, ... So, it's easy to match the workstation with the audio tempo, display bar and beat markers. Once the DAW tempo is aligned with the music tempo, I do a little trimming and get an excellent loop. This allows me to play along with the lesson for as long as I want. ... show more

  • Bass Lines!!!!
Format: Kindle
Coming from a person who knows a little about music but is brand new to the bass, I was able to get up and running really quickly. The book starts really basic, but gets you into real bass lines fast. Moving patterns around a blues form is a great way to learn the instrument.

  • I find it useful
Format: Paperback
I certainly didn’t finish it in 14 days but found that it conveys the information in bite size chunks. Lots more tools to use in jam sessions.

  • A good starter book for the blues
Format: Paperback
This is a good starter book if you are new to bass guitar or blues bass guitar. I don't have it all down in two weeks but doing okay so far.

  • Great Starting-out Book!
Format: Paperback
This book started kind of slow, but as a newbie it was good for me. By day 2 it was starting to sound like blues and in about a week it was really sounding like blues. Using the audio makes you feel like you are in a band! It’s paced well and I highly recommend!
