This hoverboard is small that even kids and get a hang of it very quickly with guides and directions. I found it harder to get through bumpier roads. But it's perfect to ride on smooth concretes or indoor tile/wood floors. It's pretty fast too. I just hope the battery life is better.

I ordered this for my 4 year old grandson for his birthday present. He had ridden one a friend owned and he really wanted his own. He was so excited when it arrived he almost couldn't contain himself. It came with a full charge and he was able to ride it right out of the box, so Mom let him give it a go inside before she set up the blue tooth apps on her phone. After he had spun it around the carpet a few times, she set out to download apps. It turns out there are 2 apps to download, not just one. One controls the lights and music while the other is the mode settings for beginner, intermediate and advanced. These were fairly easy to set up once she realized there were 2 separate apps and not just the one. It wasn't long before he was riding around like a pro. He wears his bike helmet for safety outside. The different modes max out the speed it can go so he rides in beginner mode which tops out at about 4-4.5 mph. His older brother rode it in advanced and got it up to 10.7 mph so it is possible to get it going faster than the 9 mph listed on the box, tho not prudent to go any faster than you are comfortable going. My oldest grandson face-planted after trying to slow down from his little zoomfest ... good thing he knew how to Parkour roll and didn't break anything! The music plays loud enough that I could hear it via video chat while watching him ride and the different light configurations and schemes are a fun addition. The charge lasts a good long time. My grandson can ride and ride and ride and it is almost attached to him now. He even rides it around the house from room to room and stands on it rocking back and forth in front of the TV when watching his favorite shows. If you're going to go from outdoor riding to indoors, you might want to clean the tires though. They will track outside dirt onto a carpet. Also, outdoors, be careful going over bumps like uneven sidewalks and low curbs. Those can knock you down but it handles uphills and most terrain with ease. No bog or lag or strain on the board. My oldest grandson requested one of his own for Christmas so, of course, I ordered a second one in a different color for him. Shhh, don't tell! ;) Even my daughter was impressed with it and keeps hinting she wants one of her own, but she will have to pay for that herself! LOL I highly recommend this hoverboard (or as my 4 y/o grandson calls it, his PUFFERboard) to anyone looking for a good vehicle at a decent price. ... show more

    • Wouldn't recharge after less than a year

We would have liked to give a positive review - at first my granddaughter was thrilled with the hoverboard. It was easy to activate, learn to use, and both attractive and sturdy. It was a bit pricey, but we thought it was worth it, given the company's reputation and the product quality. However, after fairly light use (especially over the winter), it will no longer charge. (Although the charger lights turn from red to green, the unit won't run for longer than 5 minutes). We understood that the warranty was 90 days, but were hopeful that the company would help us, minimally, troubleshoot the issue. For the investment, we expected better than 9 months of operation! The company was NOT helpful in the least. We won't buy from them again. ... show more

    • Nice hoverboard, but only goes 7 mph instead of 9 mph.

Gave this to my 10 year old son. He loves it. Rides it everywhere in the house. We took it outside and I went jogging with him. Very annoyingly, the board started beeping at him. I knew we weren’t going over 9 mph. I carefully measured the speed it beeps at and found that it consistently and constantly beeps any time he was going over 7 mph. Yes, I suppose it technically will go 9 mph, but it is beeping very loudly the whole time. Tried to email customer support who said this shouldn’t happen, and suggested I return it. We did so and got another of the same model and it had the exact same problem. Anyway, for most kids this is probably fine. I just wish they would not advertise the top speed as 9 mph when it really isn’t. ... show more

this LOOKS fantastic...but looks can be deceiving! after reading tons of reviews i finally settled on the black h1 hoverboard for a christmas gift. only took minutes to get comfortable riding around in the house; it still hasn't seen outside yet. called amazon today about a problem; if i still had the box, i'd send it back. only lasted 22 days without incident... we disconnect the charger once the batt's full. haven't ridden it outside, hasn't hit any furniture, it's still pristine. PROS: again, it looks great. bluetooth speakers on the underside is a cool idea. app is easy to use. charger and cable are both sturdy. CONS: the slightest bump (like the small transition strip from the floor to the carpet) can cause the rider to fall off. no clue what might happen riding over the break in a sidewalk! takes several hours to charge; i just can't see the batteries making it the alleged 9 miles. in the house, the fastest the app says we go is a little over 3mph, but mostly it's 1-2mph. we prob get 20 minutes of riding in the kitchen to drain the battery down 1/3. if the hoverboard is off while charging, the only indicator light is on the charger itself. today, 22 days after purchase, only riding in the house, the board starts acting strange. it's hesitating, we have to lean WAY forward to make it move. ok, i'll recalibrate. following the instructions, i complete the recalibration and nothing changes. i recalibrate 2 more times before the board acts like normal. my biggest issue: why, if the board spends 99% of its time just sitting there, would it need to be recalibrated? amazon tech support is no help; again, if i had the box, i'd send it back. several hundred dollars worth of disappointment... ... show more
