I always expect a few negative reviews out of hundreds, because somebody is BOUND to get a defective product eventually. When my husband was researching hover boards with our 12-year-old, he saw the reviews on this one complaining about the uncontrollable spin, but dismissed them as aberrations among hundreds of positive reviews. That was a big mistake. We received ours on Friday, and then it rained all weekend so it only got used very slowly up and down our hall. It was easy to use and seemed to work well. On Monday morning our daughter was on it indoors when it started to spin, but she was able to quickly step off and turn it off. A few hours later it dried up enough to use outside. She was going faster this time when the machine went into a spin she couldn't correct, and was thrown off and now has a broken arm. This was when I discovered that five of the top 6 reviews report this dangerous problem, all in the last six months. Reading further brings the total up to 7 out of the first 12--that's where I stopped counting. It appears that my husband sorted reviews by stars rather than just starting at the top, and therefore didn't realize how many of the recent reviews report the same problem. Our mistake, so please don't let it be yours. Even when we return the defective hover board, we've now spent more in medical bills for a broken bone than we did on this unpredictable device. Plus our daughter saved up for a long time for something she now refuses to use again. I realize that a hover board has an inherent danger but this wasn't misuse, this was a dangerous malfunction that has been documented before. ... show more

This thing is so dangerous! DO NOT BUY!!! I got it for my daughter's birthday and it she loved it. She fell off of it and it started spinning full speed uncontrollably and hit her in the head, it knocked over a table and broke our lamp and a vase. We had to take the poor girl to the hospital on her birthday! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Purchased for my daughter's birthday. This hoverboard should probably be recalled as it has a mind of it's own. Spun out of control the 1st time and figured it just needed to be calibrated. Then it did it a few more times. Luckily she wasn't hurt but this thing is going back. It is very dangerous and unpredictable. Obviously they are handing out free hoverboards in exchange for 5 star reviews here. Don't fall for it. ... show more

On our 2nd hoverboard. this hoverboard started spinning uncontrollably and sent my son FLYING into a wall, and then gashed a hole in that same wall. Outright DANGEROUS

Also, we just purchased it last week and have already had two incidents where the board continued to spin in circles while someone was on it and after the person jumped off. We had it for only a day before it went out of calibration and rapidly pivoted forward, throwing the rider. Recalibrated it several more times over the next few days before giving up and returning it.     • Two different hoverboards - same problem out of the box

My son ordered the Hover 1 Dream and it arrived ready to go out of the box. He was able to ride for about 5 minutes before a red light came on and remained lit. We charged the board for several hours, but the red light remained on. We followed the instructions for re-calibration on Hover-1's website, but the problem remained. We contacted Hover-1 directly through their website and were told "there is a non-repairable issue with this item. Please return to Amazon." We contacted Amazon and the replacement process was very easy. However, the replacement item arrived yesterday and out of the box again we have the issue with the red light. Additionally, the unit beeps constantly and will not stop. We have fully charged, re-calibrated and ultimately ended up contacting the manufacturer again through their website. We were given the same exact response (non-repairable, return to Amazon, etc.) We will not be doing another replacement. When the unit worked the ride was fun and smooth for my 11 year old. There is obviously a problem with this model though, so we will be moving to a different brand. ... show more
