The large trunk is 15.75 inches high x 25.75 inches wide x 14.5 inches deep and has a reddish paint finish. It has a weathered, antiqued look. Its flat, hinged lid slightly overhangs the trunk itself, creating a lip for the lid. The lid clicks as it opens. The clicks indicate at which positions the lid will stay open without being held. This large and charming trunk is perfect in bedrooms for blankets, toys, and other treasures. i bought this to use in a camper, since it's very lightweight for it's size and looks way prettier than a plastic tub. it is dark wood colored but i knew that from these reviews, and it works for me. the one i got is clean, no smell, well enough made, and sturdy for a lightweight decorative piece. keep in mind that this is NOT a real antique, heavyweight, strongly put together old-school quality trunk. it just sorta looks like one. it's made with glue and brads. there are no metal parts other than the hinges and the carrying rings on the two sides. the 'ironwork' is a pressed wood or maybe wood/plastic product, but it looks great for what it is. i immediately started cutting into this thing- i drilled a bunch of 3/4 inch circles into the lower sides for air flow, wiped the holes with stain, and then dropped in my new small 12 volt fridge/freezer- perfect fit. so for my purposes, a great product. would i pay this much for this thing if it wasn't the only good looking lightweight trunk of perfect dimensions i could find? no. it's worth maybe $50, not almost $90. but for my project, worth it. ... show more

I bought the small arch style box. It's well constructed, sturdy, and nice to look at. I keep my Oculus in it with the controllers. It's the perfect size for that. But it isn't finished well enough to be safe. I'm constantly having to sand it down. I think I'm going to have to refinish it entirely so that I'm not in danger of getting splinters every time I open and close it. I love that they want you to rate how lightweight it is... it's lightweight because it's cheap ace wood. And I already know I'm going to have to restain it myself within the year. The slightest bump takes off the top layer, and it looks like it's the only layer of stain. No sealant. But it's still beautiful as long as I'm careful with it. I kept this chest despite the disappointment. It's completely unsanded and unfinished. I got splinters taking it out of the box it shipped in and the splinters snagged on the fabric of my sleeves when I put things in it. It is not very sturdy. The wood is soft and light, something more than balsa wood but still soft enough to scratch with your nails (which will also expose the pale wood color underneath the paint/stain). It came a bit crushed and damaged and I would not recommend it for use around toddlers or animals. ... show more
