I'm using this chest as a pirate treasure chest. my pirate clothes, jewels, weapons, and other costume pieces all easily fit in this with room to spare. The chest is very spacious. The wooden structure is big and hollow. The hinge is great and quiet. At first I didn't think I'd like the look of it, but it looks great. the wooden slats across the sides looks unique and sturdy. Metal strapping on the flat top makes it look solid. It IS solid too. The only thing that could really noticeably be improved is the smallish metal handles. they are low profile and work just fine, but the chest is so big that larger handles would make carrying this easier. also, dont expect to lock this. there isnt a latch. ... show more

I really liked the looks of this storage trunk. I’ve been watching for the price to go down and I bought it. After getting it into my house, unpacking the trunk from the box, I noticed a big piece of wood sticking out on the right side of the lid. Unfortunately, it needs to go back. I’m so disappointed. Follow-up: I did order another trunk and was able to keep this one. It looks very nice in my dining room next to my hutch. Perfect match! This is fine for the price. My good for nothing brother-in-law broke the marble top of my beautiful coffee table. (Yes, he broke a slab of marble.) It was an antique and cost an arm and a leg to replace so I chose this because it can store blankets and pillows directly next to the couch. It's not an incredible piece of furniture. The lid is a little off and the finish looks a bit glossy and cheap but it's going to serve its purpose and it does seem sturdy. There was no assembly. The color is as pictured. The size is as described. I bought some wooden trays to sit on top to keep it from getting ruined with coffee cups and soda cans and to discourage people from resting their feet on it because I do think this is built well enough to last a long time and I'd like to keep it as nice as possible. All in all, I feel it was a good purchase. It's nice enough to want to take good care of it but not so perfect that if freakin Zak demolishes this one too, I'm not shedding any tears. ... show more

The chest is nicely finished in a color as advertised. The interior is spacious and perfect to store quilts and pillows. The metal trim is well finished and looks suitably antique. This trunk shows very well in my living room. I use it to store extra blankets and pillows💁♀️. I ordered a 2nd trunk because I love the original so much! I may love this one as well💁♀️The delivery man was so kind as to bring it in the house for me😊 However I must wait for my nephew to help me get it out of the box. I am 70, not helpless but it’s difficult. The problem is the box SMELLS! It smells like it’s been sitting in a newly fertilized garden🥺 it is very stinky in here! I hope my nephew comes soon to remove this box! I hope it’s just the box and the trunk does not smell this bad🤦♀️ ... show more

the hinge mechanism holds the fairly heavy lid up pretty ok.. but it's not on straight. The black tin accenting isn't properly aligned, misses a lot of coverage, and the rivets are further misaligned within them. This thing could've been great but all that material was wasted. I bought one new rather than locally finding a used one in hopes that I'd be able to get one that isn't gross. And yet, this one arrived pretty gross. half a can of pledge later, and I got all the dust I could off. which was very useful in highlighting all the termite frass. So on the bright side, clearly it's real wood ;) ... show more
