I have a live floor under the dining room china cabinet, which allows the china to rattle whenever anyone walks across the room. I thought it might help to brace the floor from the crawl space (photo). Access to the crawl space limited my choice of materials, so I got some strut channels to support and frame the jacks. It was convenient to space the channels just slightly apart so I could use strut nuts to secure the jacks. Works well. The only thing I'd like is to have the handle a few inches longer so I could exert more torque in lifting the overhead beams.

These adjustable jack posts seem reasonably durable and well built. They work as expected for leveling and temporary support. The steel plates, tubing and adjustment mechanism is solid and free from binding. I appreciate the long handle to use for turning the final bit of adjustment. Setup is straightforward and these are good for typical homeowner use such as placing under sagging joists while making repairs. There are a couple of things worth noting. When the post is extended in anything beyond the fully collapsed position, the heigh is secured mainly by two cross bolts that act as primary load bearing pins. The bolts included with my jack were marked sa clas 4.8, which is a lower grade common bulk hardware bolt strength. They may be sufficient for light duty or shared load applications, but I'd personally feel safer upgrading to stronger 5.8 or 10.9 grade bolts for added strength and peace of mine. For reference, Class 10.9 bolts are roughly 2 to 3 times stronger than Class 4.8. The listing mentions these are good for permanent support. I did not see any certification markings or documentation indicating approval for permanent support use on the unit I received. Permanent structural supports are often subject to local building requirements, so anyone planning long term use should verify suitability before attempting installation. With upgraded hardware and used appropriately, these are a decent budget jack post for supplemental support or temporary use. Just be sure to do your own research and understand how the load is distributed when the jack is extended.

Large range of adjustment because the base height can be adjusted. The adjustable base design also makes this slightly weaker than a jack with a solid base. The steel is reasonably thick, although the welds are sloppy looking. Includes a handle that can be used for leverage, if it's not enough you can slip a longer pipe over it for even more leverage. Can be adjusted precisely to get floor joists perfectly level. The most important thing to look for with this type of jack is that the top plate will swivel independent of the screw mechanism. This allows it to be adjusted up or down after it is secured to the beam. This one works perfectly, it has a circlip securing the screw to the top plate, allowing it to swivel. Good value for the money, these come in very handy when doing remodels where that are issues with the floor joists.
