I bought this wood burning stove as I live in a canvas tent full time. It is now winter and I’m looking for an adequate heat source. I bought this wood burning stove in hopes of heating my tent. First complaint: you have to burn at least 5 times to burn off all the chemicals used on the stove. The stove STINKS BAD before all the residue is burned off. Second complaint: the small glass window broke the first night I used once seasoned. Which makes me concerned for the overall safety of the stove. I tried to get ahold of the seller for replacement glass and had zero luck. Third complaint: it leaks smoke. Smoke comes out the door and the top where there is the cooking spot. My entire tent fills with smoke nightly. (Yes I know how to operate a wood burning stove. The flu is open the stove simply sucks). I woke up in the middle of the night with my tent so thick of smoke it was scary. It doesn’t heat it smokes. Fourth complaint: it doesn’t heat. It barely radiates any heat. It is so small you can barely fit anything more than small sticks. Because you can not fit any decent wood in it barely heat’s because you can not build a good fire. I would not suggest this wood burning stove for in a yurt if you’d like to live and not die of smoke inhalation. I would not waste your money on this stove. ... show more

This wood burning stove is a mini-version of a cast iron wood stove that I once used to heat a fairly large garage. This design works really well once it gets going. Just open the flue and damper when lighting your fire starter, presumably newspaper or similar. Once good combustion is going, close the damper and flue to extend the burn-time of your fuel, adjust as necessary. I’ve just set it up, but have not burned anything in it yet, and really like pretty much everything about it. It’s a well thought out kit for providing warmth in a small space. It is “mini” though. Length is about 14” and door opening is about 6” x 6”, so you’ll have to cut wood to size in advance, bring a lopper/hatchet for kindling-sized pieces. The only niggle I have, and it’s a very small one, is that there is no spark arrester for the topmost chimney pipe, which, TBH, may not even be an issue, depending on your application, but you could simply add some sort of metal screen and fit it inside one of the pipes or on the outside with a 4” metal hose clamp. It is not a deal breaker, to be sure, and the rest of the design seems flawless and the materials look to work without issue. Pros: Very portable wood stove with chimney Poker, lid lifter, brush, gloves Attached folding legs Reasonably light Damper/flue Window Raised grate Market priced No rough or sharp edges, but be careful with the pipe ends Tough, heat and rust resistant black matte finish Chromed, fold-out, side warming tables/carry handle Chromed safety handles on door latch and damper Includes extra door hinge pin, nut and 2 extra window screws Owners manual with good photos and info Easy assembly Cons: Size limits wood choices Meant for low-to-medium burn rates Spark arrester would have been nice Not sure yet how well this heats water or allows cooking Chimney not guy line-supported for windy outdoor conditions Metal tongs would help This stove earns a solid 4 stars. I will update this review if there are any issues, including adding a fifth star if it merits it. I’m looking forward to using this wood stove this fall and winter, and can’t wait to take it camping. Much better quality than I was expecting. Doesn't leak nearly as much smoke as I was expecting. Easy to clean for what it is. The heat output it is amazing!! The metal is surprisingly thick enough to last a while.
