Style Name: 300 Blackout 2-Die Set

Features

  • Die Set for the Avid Reloader - hand crafted and polished for an unmatched finish, the Hornady Custom Grade New Dimension 2-Die Set for 300 Blackout (.308) (546349) is necessary for each cartridge that you reload to decap, de-prime, resize, and seat/crimp the bullet
  • Find the Custom Grade Dies You Need - these precision dies give the handloader more control over the loading process. Depending on the caliber of die set/alignment sleeve you are using, the Hornady Crimp/Seater Die will either "taper" or "roll" crimp your cases
  • Full Length Sizer Die - features a Zip Spindle, with a series of light threads cut on the spindle and spindle collet. This eliminates spindle slippage and makes tightening the spindle lock a breeze when making adjustments
  • Seating Die - the floating bullet alignment sleeve and stem improve bullet seating and accuracy by pre-aligning the bullet and case before seating. The Hornady bullet seating die also applies a crimp to secure the bullet in the case
  • Precise Machining for Accurate Reloading - Hornady reloading dies are designed for a true match to your chamber. Keep several appropriate Hornady die sets for each caliber size at your reloading bench. Includes a full length sizer die, seating die, plastic storage box, two Sure-Loc rings, elliptical expander, and headed decapping pins

  • Like Hornady Dies
Hornady dies are one of my most used dies for standard reloading. Dies are of good quality and size cases to spec and don’t leave any scratches or marks on the cases.

  • Excellent Dies
This was my first Hornady die set purchase as I normally use RCBS sets. I found these to be very well made and worked with my RCBS press perfectly. The floating insert concept is very nice and keeps the bullets well aligned in the seating process. The set actually came with a rebate offer for a box of bullets and I was able to get 100 .308s to continue making my newest favorite round. Sized cut-down .223 brass perfectly once they were cut to length using a Harbor Freight 2 inch cut off saw. A great combo to make a relatively expensive round in a pretty economical way if you have access to once fired .223 brass. Just remember that if you cut down .223 to 35 mm, they will elongate slightly upon sizing, so I trimmed them to proper length using my RCBS trimmer before using the sizing die. ... show more

  • I prefer this style over my RCBS dies
I bought this set after already owning the same caliber set in RCBS and I prefer this style. The 3 piece setup with the rod makes it way easier to align the projectile with a bottle neck case. Very easy to set up, and works very well. I will be looking for this style in my next caliber die set I pick up. 10/10 would recommend. ... show more

  • Would buy again... hopefully won't have to buy again though.
Works as it should. Using it to convert 223/5.56 brass into 300AAC. Works well and they worked in my rifle. Only issue I had was my own fault. I used two different lubes at different times without thinking about it and caused a high friction scenario and gummed it all up. Got a case stuck. Sent it to Hornady to remove the case. Unfortunately you have to send the package in at your own cost with $5 return shipping and they will fix and replace some parts. I guess the cost to me was still better than buying a new die. Great customer service and quick turn around. I have RCBS and Hornady products and both are great companies. RCBC might have the edge on customer support, but the Hornady dies are nice due to the bullet stabilization on the seating die. Excellent product and excellent manufacturer. A+ ... show more

  • Hornady 300 Blackout dies -- the cat's meow!
For years, I've only been using dies from another company. They have always been adequate. When I needed to find dies for 300 Blackout, though, this die set from Hornady is all that was available. The Hornady 300 Blackout die set is a bit more expensive than the other brand, but it works great. I am in *love* with the way the bullet seating die aligns the bullet over the case. With those other dies, I'm accustomed to pinching my fingers and still having issues with plated bullets getting scraped on the edge of the case because the bullet wasn't aligned JUST RIGHT. The seating depth adjustment works great - just as you would expect. The hex head set screw in the lock nut, though, is the cat's meow. You have a guarantee that the die won't move. Do yourself a favor and try out the Hornady die set for 300 Blackout. It's money well spent. ... show more

  • well worth the extra money over lee die set
hornady dies are always a good buy, i started with lee dies for 300 aac blackout, and ended up having head spacing issues with the rounds, and the de-priming pin broke on the lee set with the hornady dies i was surprised by the quality, the de-capping pin is vary strong and you will more then likely loose it before breaking it. the die set came with 2 extra de-capping pins, and some other extra parts. with these dies i can run a peace of .223 brass and size the case to 300 blackout with out needing to cut down the case first. only down side i have found after at least 10,000 rounds loaded, the sizing die needs more case lube then others i have used before and leads to stuck cases(if not lubed) although i like the seat depth die, it is strange to get use to on a progressive press as part of it hangs vary low to guide the bullet into place inside the die and in turn into the case. im use to using my fingers to guide the bullet up with thew case into the die and did crush my hand a few times before learning my lesson. ... show more

  • The Fixes Needed to Make These Work for Forming 300 Using 223 WITHOUT ANNEALING
First, the dies themselves are well made and easy to use and set up. The two issues seen with the set are easily remedied: 1) undersizing of the neck with the provided expander ball when the brass is not annealed (too much neck tension), and 2) crimp feature that may collapse the case. To address the first, the best bet is to properly anneal the case...but even then, neck tension can be a little high when seating thinner-jacketed bullets. The fix is to order the next size up in expander ball (0.310, MidwayUSA #274923) and use a drill press or drill motor and emery paper to turn the ball down to 0.3085-0,309), followed by a little polishing with finer grit wet/dry, then buff. For use in semi-auto, I always crimp, but found the Hornady seating die was hit-or-miss with reformed 223 brass, so went to the Lee Factory Crimp Dies for all of my 223, 300. 6.5, and pistol ammo. YMMV... ... show more
