  • So far do good, first use testing 300 gallons
Color: Blue
Lessons learned: 1) Use a short supply hose, as even a minimal amount of air in the input line/ heater will cause it to shut off repeatedly. Manual suggests simply turning off & on to bleed air but I had better success turning the flow control knob up and down repeatedly with pump running. I was using a 1 Amp pump with 25' hose for over 10 minutes to bleed air out of hose but burping the heater with flow knob and controlling max heat sermed to be the trick. 2) Have large supply of water as it may take awhile to get air out, those with limited supply may wish to circulate through a 5 gallon bucket until all air is out so can get consistent operation for showering. 3) Heater seems to work best supported higher up, perhaps helps bleed out air? Could not get to work consistently when close to ground but could have been thermal shutdown as had not gigured out thermal shutdown yet. Heater consistently shuts down with temp maxed over 160 deg. F. By setting to 151 was able to keep running without interuption. 4) When going from 73.6 degrees in 300 gallon spa ( bought toreheat spa, not camping), heated up to 101 deg in 1 hour & 27 minutes with lid closed at 151 deg output. That is 28 degrees or 3.1 minutes/ degree. Outside temp aporiximately 50 degrees so warmed temp will require less time/ propane. With the lid open, heat can be lost rapidly. We lost 4 degrees running it with lid open using it. Still have yet to determine cost in propane vs electricity. Used about 2.5 gallons guesstimate, to heat city water to 104 deg, when filling. Note with higher 60 psi water pressure, air bubbles did not seem to be an issue and never shut down from the get go even running lower mounted. It took a bit to figure out how I was going to connect a garden hose to the input. The provided quick disconnect adapter is uterly useless in that case. It assumes you have a hose narrow enough to fit through the compression sleeve after cutting off one end. The cheapest solution I found was to use the orange adapter that converts inlet to MHT ( Male Hose Thread) or also known as GHT ( Garden hose thread). The GHT does not define male or female but MHT & FHT do. I purchased a 3/4" FHTXFHT adapter ( they can be found on Amazon or locally although not real common). The picture shows my connection. When I purchased this, I had an old can of propane I thought I would use. Turns out my can was older than sin & the connection standard had changed so had to swap it out for the newer style with male fitting as opposed to old style with smaller female. Do not lose the orange inlet adapter as critical connecting garden hose!! PS comes with it's own water filter which I did not notice so sending back the extra I bought. All connections must be " tight" to avoid air intoduction into line, use teflon tape on everything. When it arrived there was some water in it, although the parts bag appeared sealed and new. Unsure why there was water in it unless it was used, perhaps leftover from testing, if so why did they not blow it out with air unless design prevents it. I verified my pump can handle pumping water over 160 deg, so no issue for spa reheating. ... show more

  • water heater
Color: White
YAHOO!!!! I can now take a shower while at the cabin. This little heater is great. I only wish the controls were inside rather than outside. It takes a few adjustments to get the proper temperature set but after that it's great.

  • Great unit
Color: Blue
Unit would not light up when applying water psi. Had 2 brand new D cell batteries. Had to remove cover, traced down a wire that had been inserted into the wrong position in a plug. Moved wire to correct position. Unit fires up perfectly now. Use it for a shower in my RV.
