I enclose a porch in the fall for feral cats to live in little cat houses I have for them. Houses have heated pads , and the furthest one from the end doesn't reach the receptacle on porch. I have an huge number of extension cords for work over large outdoor areas including very heavy duty expensive 12 and 14 extension cords. I also have many indoor regular duty 14/3 extension cords. So I feel comfortable comparing this cord to a large range of available quality levels. The strengths of this product are its cable flexibility (unusually easy to bend/work with), light weight, and bright lighted receptacle. I compared it in pictures to a high grade truly heavy duty and far more expensive Northern Tool extension cord (see comparison with red cable) and a big box store generic extension cord (black cable). As you can see in the pictures, there is no competition between this medium grade Henderson extension cord and these much higher grade (but more expensive) cords. Note all of these cords (Honderson and ones I compare it to) are rated as 14/3 15A 1875W cords. But as you can see, the plug ends and cord thickness are very different from the Honderson— these other brands are much heavier duty. Finally I measured the voltage drop over the Honderon cord using an Extech ct70 AC load tester, applying a 15A load. To understand the test you will need to see the Extech manual but suffice it to say that it shows what I believe is an acceptable voltage drop of about .8 volts from a 15A load applied over the 6 foot Henderson cord at am using. I tested the AC outlet itself and then the end of the Honderson. In summary, I assume folks know what they are buying when they pay for a cord such as this and obtain it at a lower cost. They are not looking to spend the maximum they can on the highest quality, they are looking for something adequate for their needs and maybe something that isn’t took heavy. The other heavier cords I compared it to have far more weight and consume more space. If lightweight and easy of handling are a factor for you, this cord has those strengths. Only you can decide what meets your needs. For me, I will only be using this cord for basic lightweight household work or a low power tool. I would not put my wet saw on it or operate it under challenging conditions. But I might connect a lower amperage power tool to it on a sunny day or use it to extend the cord of a fan. ... show more

I was going to hit a big box store and pick up a few feet of SOJ wire and a couple of lit Plug ends,but this is actually much cheaper!!!! Plus the plug ends on this are molded to the wire making them much more waterproof than what I could do.
