We already had a Honda 3000 for the house. Occasional power outages made us want a quiet, reliable generator with a long run time and electric start. Love it! We decided to get a 2200 for the travel trailer because it was enough power for the trailer and was light enough to easily transport. Also, it is small enough that pull-starting is easy. The good reputation of the Honda brand makes a 5-star review unnecessary. But I wrote this as a tech tip for those interested in the 12 Volt charging. There are a lot of articles on the web telling you to monitor this unregulated source, but few mention why. The Honda manual warns you to monitor the use of this "unregulated" 12 Volt supply. Inverter generators are great because they can have an "eco-mode" that runs the motor slower at low loads. This saves gas and makes less noise. The inverter supplies the 120VAC power just like a solar charge controller which converts the varying voltage from a solar panel to a regulated supply. I think the "12 Volt" output is actually the DC input to the inverter, and it varies from 19 VDC to 27 VDC, depending on the speed of the generator. I bought a DC cable to try this out. It does work: it pushed between 3 and 8 Amps into a battery depending on speed. But after checking it out, I don't think I'll ever use it. I think it is safer and faster to let the trailer's AC charger to the job, or use an AC powered charger designed to charge in stages, then trickle when complete. I want to be able to walk away from a charger and let it run all day without constant monitoring. And I don't like the idea of pushing 19 Volts into a battery for a long time. This Honda generator provides the perfect match of backup power for our mountain home. The greatest attributes are listed below: 1. Honda dependability 2. Quiet operation 3. portable 4. Sized right for keeping the basics running. i.e. Refrigerator, internet router, needed lighting, charging our cell phones and laptop. I highly recommend this unit as a necessary backup for anyone's home. For the recoil starting method, it is very easy to get running. Also, remember to keep ethanol free gasoline in the tank for your next generating need. VP racing fuel for 4 cycle engines is an appropriate fuel choice, especially here in California, due to the ethanol and other additives that come through our gas station pumps and can damage the carburetor.

I am using this for powering select appliances at home during power outage. Pros: manageable weight for one person to carry; remarkably low noise; starts very easily - almost always in first couple of pulls; eco mode is very useful; two 120V outlets are very useful compared to if there was just one; easy access to the maintenance panel including the oil change place; the app is very useful for remote observation of the generator and remote off. Cons: pouring oil in an inclined opening is a little awkward; wish it had an electric starter motor.

Best small generators on the market in my opinion! Easy to start even after long periods. I bought mine after borrowing my neighbos who has had his for 10 years and swears by them. Doing research showed me that this was the general opinion. How to keep genie running for years: DO follow breaking period including changing oil a couple of times during breaking. Use non-ethanol gas as much as you can. If you can't get it or find yourself in a situation with full tank of regular gas make surw to fuel stabilizer for long periods of non use. Replace spark plugs and filters regularly! Get a cover and store it in safe place. Ive got ime covered and sitting on a furniture dolly for easy of movement. Get a good replacement oil cap with magnetic tip. I got mine from Vortex part # DS013-HONDAGENERATOR-17 I think. Hand machined in USA! Pros: Quiet Easy start Reliable Size Cons: Little heavy Little pricey compared to other brands .. that's i can think of for cons

Purchased to provide emergency power to Amateur Radio equipment. Discovered that voltage output has more electrical noise than expected, thus the 4 stars instead of 5. This causes radio receiver noise floor to increase about +10 dB compared to when powered from commercial source on some radio operating frequencies (typically on 80m band in my experience) - other frequencies not as affected. This is NOT an RF generated noise (over the air), thus radio Noise Blanker, Noise Reduction circuitry have no effect. Otherwise works very well. Much quieter than I expected, especially when running with Economy mode selected. No hearing protection needed even when standing right next to generator. Starts easily on one or two pulls of starter cord except on first start or when fuel has been exhausted from carburetor. Excellent build quality inside and out. Runs about 4 minutes when fuel shut off using Run/Fuel Off/Stop selector. NOTE! Oil fill is MUCH larger diameter (about 1 1/2") than on the EU2000i Honda generator. Be warned that aftermarket oil fill items made for the EU2000i model WILL NOT fit (dipsticks, etc.). The aftermarket Yoursme Aluminum Extended Run Gas Cap that I purchased, which is made for the EU1000i and EU2000i, DOES fit.

works really good! i got this specifically cause of its clean power, quietness, and and reliability. so i can go work down at the shed and use it with shop vac for gold panning in the creek. this inverter generator has cleaner power than the grid so it can be used with sensitive electronics including computers and cpap machines. so with that i fully recommend this generator! just make sure you break it in before using it and switch to synthetic at the 20 hour mark to make it last longer.
