This thing flies for a long time, it's very sturdy, with a little bit of trimming it's very stable. It does not have unnecessary options like flipping or anything like that. It is a joy to play with. Automatic take off on landing even better. There is also a gyro calibration button which is the left lower button on the four-way. I was pretty surprised at how fun this was. The 3 speed setting are nice for beginners (like me). I did find that it really isn't usable outside if there is even the slightest of breezes though.

    • Has some power, rotates slow unless on high speed
Runs 6 mins with guards in place, 8 mins without the guards for me. works well enough, but the rotation speed is way too slow unless on speed 3, makes it hard to use on low speed, but high speed is still manageable enough. The altitude hold cannot be turned off, and is not very good, but at least the "throttle" control is almost responsive. I hate when the altitude hold is forced on us. I HATE THE STNKING ALTITUDE HOLD CRAP. Did I mention the altitude hold concept of being stuck on is stinking puss spew. The thing can lift a quarter ( as in a US 25 cent piece) with the quards in place so if your camera and power source weighs less than a quarter...... ... show more

    • one of my favorite drones
I teach a high school drones class and this drone is the only one of my drones not needing major repairs. The propeller guards cause this drone to casually bounce when it runs into a wall. It comes with extra propellers but I've never need to replace them. I have both the red and gold. I can have both drones in the air (with 4-5 other drone brands) with no interference. It has 3 speeds and does tricks. It comes with 3 batteries. One battery lasts longer than any of my other drones in this price range. This drone has been crashed into walls, used for aerial battles, and dropped from the second story of the school multiple times with no issues. The only issue I have had is with the plastic pieces that hold the battery in place. One of the plastic pieces on each drone has broken, but the second piece remains intact and is able to securely hold the battery on its own. Eventually I will likely have to use tape to hold the battery on, but this drone is almost indestructable, so needing a little tape is not a big deal. I wish this drone came in multiple colors. This drone works so well for learning basic flight skills that I'm considering buying several more. ... show more

    • One of the BEST Inexpensive Indoor Drones w/o a Camera
Absolutely love this "bee" for buzzing around the house bugging the cats and other occupants. Controls are progressive, calibration and trim actually WORK, and it's amazingly stable when you let go of the joysticks - very little drift. Batteries last a decent amount of time and charge quickly with a high-amp charger The guards look stupid but work great, often acting as a spring to redirect the drone back off the wall and other objects. One of the big issues with these little drones is being able to tell which way it's headed, especially after a bump. The bright white "headlight" solves that problem - just rotate until you see it, then you know which way you are pointed. I just can't recommend this drone enough for indoor flying! ... show more

    • Stopped working, but customer service resolved it
UPDATE: Holyton customer service did get in touch with me within a few days of writing a negative review (which was my last resort.) They offered me a refund or replacement, and followed through quickly. Everyone is happy again. My son saved up his money for this and LOVED IT… until it stopped taking off after only a few flights. Unfortunately he didn’t tell me right away and I didn’t have the time to troubleshoot it until after the amazon return window had closed. We have a handful of entry-level drones and being an engineer I know how to find and remedy the common drone ailments. But this seems to have a faulty motor. Attempting to get customer service through amazon and emailing holyton directly have been fruitless. Very frustrating. ... show more

    • A Very Fun Mini Drone
The media could not be loaded. This is my first mini drone and have found this fun to fly! I have had fun flying this mini drone both inside and outside. It is small enough that I can fly it inside on rainy or windy days - and our dog is still trying to figure out what it is :-). This might be a good starter mini drone for pre-teens - but I would still highly recommend adult supervision/assistance. The mini drone controller and carrying/storage case are combined into one unit. On one hand that makes it very easy to keep the main two pieces (controller, mini drone) together. On the other hand, the control buttons aren't uniquely marked so I had to frequently refer to the user guide - however, after repeated use it became intuitive and I didn't have to refer to the user guide anymore. As the name suggests, the mini drone is small. So, all the parts are small too. I needed to use extra care in assembling the mini drone and connecting the battery. The mini drone does not have an "on/off" switch. Rather, once you plug in the battery the mini drone is powered on. Pay attention when you plug in the battery to the mini drone or the charging cable - the connector only fits one way. If you "force it" the wrong way it might break it. Though the mini drone does come with 3 batteries and 2 charging cables. I also just want to mention that this mini drone does not have a camera or a smartphone app. It doesn't market that it does, but just wanted to mention that as many drones do have a camera and smartphone app. Overall, I have found this mini drone fun to play with! While it is similar in many ways to my regular drones the small size does create some really fun unique flying experiences. ... show more
