I received a drone, an RC transmitter, two rechargeable batteries, a charging station, various connection cables, and some spare parts. The charging station's power input is a USB-C port. I connected it to a USB-C power adapter, put in the batteries, and left it to charge overnight. It didn't charge the battery. According to the user manual, you can also charge the battery in the drone. I snapped the battery in the drone and plugged the power adapter into the drone's USB-C port. The battery overheated. Once it had cooled, I was able to wiggle the battery out with a good deal of effort, but it had swollen and would not fit in again. A quick Web search showed that these batteries are very sensitive to which USB cord you use. The included charging cord was USB-A to USB-C. I plugged the included cord into a USB-A charger and the USB-C port on the charging station, and snapped in the remaining battery. It charged easily. The transmitter requires you to download an app to your smartphone and connect the phone's USB-C port to the transmitter. It uses the phone's screen to give a first-person view from the drone's camera. That worked great. Then the app said I needed to download 4 firmware updates. It downloaded 3 of them, but when it got to the camera firmware update, it froze. I restarted the app and found it had lost the 3 updates it had downloaded. I restarted my phone and tried again. It downloaded the updates in a different order, and when it got to the camera update, it froze again. After several hours of trying to download the updates, I decided to see if I could fly without them. I followed the pre-flight instructions, set the drone on a smooth, flat surface, and revved the motors. When I tried to take off, the app froze. No matter what I tried, every time I tried to take off, the app would either freeze or insist on downloading the firmware updates and then freeze. My phone is a Moto G Play 2023. I wonder if people with other phones have the same problems, or if I just found the one combination that won't work.

Holy Stone HS 900 Drone with 8K Photo & 4K/30fps Video, 249g FAA Compliant, 3-Axis Gimbal, Long Range 20,000FT 5.8GHz, GPS Return, Dual Batteries with Charging Hub, 60-Min Flight. This little drone is awesome and easy to use! The drone provides a stable platform for viewing, video, and photography. The images captured by the onboard camera are high quality and live up to the 4K/8K rating. The quick startup instructions put me in the action quickly. Simply scan the QR code, download the Holy Stone operating app, follow the quick start steps, calibrate the drone and off it goes! After the motors are activated and the drone gains altitude, it hovers in a stable horizontal position if the controls are released (This makes the drone easy to operate). The controls are straightforward and easy to learn for anyone that has used any sort of remote control equipment. The controller utilized my smart phone screen via the Holy Stone App which provides a deluxe navigation view via the onboard camera. After charging all the batteries (approximately 20-25 minutes charging time each) I was up in running in under 20 minutes. The batteries only last a few minutes (around 30) however, last longer if they are used shortly after charging as they lose some of their charge within a day or two following a full charge. The drone, controller, battery charger, cords, and instructions fit neatly into the provided case. Included: The drone, two batteries, battery charger (3 battery capacity), instruction booklet, quick startup guide, all required connection cords, carrying case (the drone folds compactly), extra propellers, extra propeller screws, a battery usage guide, and a set of safety guidelines. Not included: 128G TF memory Card (for recording photos and video), these are relatively inexpensive Jump right into the world of drones with one of these!

This drone works well, and I like it for some reasons however other aspects are kind of a letdown. I found it easy to control, and relatively durable. My main complaint's are it does not record video or photos without a micro SD Card, and the card needs to be formatted each time you use the drone or you run the risk of not getting anything recorded. I found out the hard way when I went to take a family photo in the sunset that the card wasn't formatted from the last use and it didn't take photos but also said it was taking photos. I would say around $300 would be fair for a drone of this caliber, at $500 its a bit steep but I guess it is what it is. Overall I can recommend this item as an entry level drone, and in full disclosure this is my first drone so maybe I just don't know enough about them to set realistic expectations, your experience may vary.
