  • Great drone and excellent value; good company in terms of customer support
I've had this drone for about 2 weeks and have some experience with them. In terms of value, this is a great buy and I'm very happy with it. The EIS function works great and the 4K images are beautiful. There is no gimbal like the higher end drones. That doesn't matter to me but you will notice it slightly when the drone turns or shifts position. My main function is flying for fun and not commercial photography or movie making so consider your purpose. Of course, you will pay a lot more for a 4K gimbal and they will be much more sensitive when bumped. Flying is great. One feature that drove me to this drone was the controller. It has a built in display with battery levels, GPS and signal strength. It can take a photo or video just using controller buttons and that means if you want to just do a quick flight, you are good to go without the phone. It means you can launch quick. I like the unlock/lock button and the one button takeoff. The auto land works but I think it may actually follow the phone. I haven't tested this yet but I noticed on return if I've backed up on the deck, the drone backs up when coming in and I have to adjust as it lands. If it did follow the phone GPS signal on auto return, that would be pretty cool. Or it could just be a minor variance in return location. Getting within a few feet is pretty typical for a return to home feature. This unit uses the Ophelia Go app. There are a few critical reviews of the app and it rates a +-3 in the store. Most of these are related to having issues connecting to the drone. What I've determined is that it's dependent on the phone settings. *MAKE SURE* you have the 'Wifi Preferences' > 'auto-switch to mobile data' setting turned OFF! I tested and that seems to be the setting that is causing the issues. It makes sense if you think about it as the drone will not be providing an internet connection so the phone will cut it off. That would not be the fault of the app. Overall, I like the app. It's pretty simple and easy to use without the 10 pages of disclaimers like in the DJY Fly app. 3 clicks and you are in and the rest is completely intuitive. One feature I was delighted to find was a digital zoom. It's a little small to use but really handy to be able to get a little closer to your subject. It's not always possible to fly closer safely so that's really valuable. One app feature that did scare me a bit was the tapfly. This is where you tap and click on a map for where you want the drone to go and it then follows that flight plan. I 'believe' it actually downloads it into the drone after you hit submit. I had one experience with this where I had the wrong directions in and the drone did indeed do what I told it to do. The problem was I couldn't get the controller to cancel it. Perhaps the app was needed to do cancel or it's not possible but I will be staying away from that until I understand it more. The drone itself is build solid and very strong. I did have one minor issue with my camera continuing to move after I let up the button. After a bit of troubleshooting it appears to have been in the controller and all I can say is that Holystone support was incredible. They worked with me over email to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Every time I sent an email, I got a response within hours. I always got follow up emails signed with a persons name (no form emails) and in the end they took care of the issue for me. I'm really impressed with that level of personalized service in this age. It's made me a believer in the brand as well as this specific product. ... show more

  • Very nice quality
Let me start by saying this drone has exceeded my expectations for the price that was paid. The Quality Of The Build The quality of the build is nice and solid for the drone and the transmitter. It compares more to a higher priced drone rather than an affordable one. It feels tough enough that you wouldn’t fear breaking it from a small crash (you are bound to have one eventually). Everything is tight, the materials do not feel cheap and the weight of it all play a role in making this drone feel like it is worth more than what it is priced at. The Quality Of Operation The build is important, but how a drone operates is key. The operation of this drone matches its build. It is a quality flight and operates again as if it is a higher class drone rather than affordable. It is a very smooth and steady flight. Some may claim it “has a mind of its own” but to those saying that I would assume they are not as familiar with flying drones and the physics behind how they operate. You do need to take it out of beginners mode to enjoy full functionality. If you believe it “has a mind of its own”, I suggest practicing lightly controlling the analogs and remembering the law of motion while maneuvering to different directions. Functionality All features functionality are incredibly sound and meet the expectations. The camera quality is very exceptional and smooth. The propellers are smooth and function properly. The transmitter/controller works well and is easy to use to operate the drone successfully. Features This drone comes with many features you would expect to pay a lot more for; and they work exceptionally well. Return to home, Follow me, Tap to fly and point of interest are all very nice features for this price point. The 4K EIS Anti-Shake Camera with Sony Sensor makes this camera function highly well. The GPS, air optical flow and air pressure altitude control system makes this drone very easy to operate through the skies. The brushless motors makes for a smooth flight and less maintenance of the machine. Overall, the features offered on this drone are well covered for this price point. Support Nothing is successful without proper support, and Holy Stone ensures success. Their support team is very responsive and on top of any question or issue that arises. I’ve not dealt with many support teams as dedicated to providing solutions as I have with Holy Stone. This alone is a major reason to deal with this company and their products because they truly care about the success their customers have with their products and are very knowledgeable about their products (some companies’ support teams do not know much about the product). Areas Of Improvement Everything has room for improvement and the HS720E is no exception (almost is though). The biggest improvement would be to the app that comes with it. Ophelia GO does seem to lag a bit on the live feed which makes it a bit difficult to rely on when flying long distance. Another improvement might be adding obstacle avoidance. I wouldn’t mind spending a bit more for this gem if they were to add this feature because it is already so well priced, it would be worth it to pay a bit more for this feature. The distance is good though I would like an option for a longer distance version. The battery time is alright although it would be nice to get more time out of it (each battery provides roughly 22 minutes in my experience). The batteries do take an undesirable time to charge, about 5 hours per battery at least, though if you purchase extras you should not be disappointed. Summary For the price of this drone, or even a bit more, it is an excellent machine. I would and have chosen this over a $600 drone easily. The quality of the build and operation of this machine are outstanding, the features offered and the functionality are very exceptional, and the support is there as needed. Overall it is a very nice machine and you can’t go wrong with buying it. ... show more

  • 2nd Drone Works. PLEASE READ INFO ABOUT USING SD CARD.
The transmitter of the first drone I received was faulty, the forward and backward function did not work. Or maybe the transmitter was working and the drone was at fault. Regardless, the controls did not move the drone forward nor backward consistently, so I returned it. I received my second drone, and it works very well. I would give my first drone 1 star and the replacement 5 stars. That being said, here are some pros and cons: Pros: It takes great video and photos. It is compact and has a nice carrying case. It does have features that make it easier for a beginner to use (easy auto take-off and GPS return) Its auto stabilization is very good. It is a huge amount of fun. Cons: The GPS landing could be a lot more accurate (I believe this depends on how many satellites it can 'see') The batteries take quite a bit of time to charge. It takes quite a bit of practice to pair the drone to one's phone, and calibrate the drone. There are some special things one needs to do to get the drone to use an SD card: Even though the drone can use up to a 128GB flash drive/SD card (see the manual for specifications), it requires the card to be formatted in FAT32 format, which will only support up to 16GB drives. But there is a free application that will force the flash drive to be formatted to 128GB. I've seen reviews saying that the drone will not use flash drives/cards. I had the same issue until I used the application. If you do a Google search for FAT32FORMAT GUI you can find it. It's a single .EXE file, easy to use. Of course be sure that you are getting the file from a reliable source. I'd post the link but Amazon does not allow it. So you format the card, and the drone can then record to it. ... show more
