  • Sweet drone for the value!
I just got this drone and I like it a lot, here is my review (my attached video was just a little of my first drone flight! it still had more battery left to fly, I just cut it short) 1) setup, it took me about 10 minutes to setup, pop in the battery, I added the bumper rails around the propellers because I am a newbie and have not used a drone before, the bumpers snap on real easy with no screws needed. I also installed the phone holder on the remote which is one screw that you hand tighten on.. Once you power on the drone if you bought the controller you just tap it up and down and it pairs to your drone that easy. I downloaded the app to the app store, it is really easy to use, once the drone is on go to wifi and find your drone and connect and live video feed comes right up! and that's it. 2) flight: I launched the drone in my kitchen first to see if it hovered straight, I hit the trim a little and it was straight with no issues. I crashed into my cabinets and counter on accident while getting the trim set lol (good thing I put the bumpers on it) but after that I was able to fly around the living room without issues After that I took the drone outside and started flying around with ease, I have never flown a drone before and had no issues it was fun flying around and getting some cool video from higher up! since I had the smartphone app i recorded the video straight to my phone and even did some flips for fun! Once it was low battery I flew it back to my and hit the land button and it comes down on its own and lands without issues I left the drone on slow speed since I am a beginner, it's really a good value for the price and the battery does not take too long to charge, I have now flown it 3 times outside and starting to really get the hang of it, it's not over complicated pretty easy to use. 3) camera, the camera is not amazing but for the price it really is good. it comes with its own SD card already so you can take video or pictures to the SD card if you don't want to use a smart phone. I took the video directly to my smart phone while connected to the drone via WIFI and had no issues. again for the price getting a camera included is already a good deal! There is no audio though im not sure why you would want it I bet it would just be loud buzzing from the motors anyway. 4) Quality; I gave the drone quality over all 4of5 because it does feel real light and fragile but I did crash a little in the kitchen and it had no issues after taking a few bangs, the drone is super light so it feels kinda fragile but then I remembered it fly's and you don't want weight when you fly for obvious reasons so it makes sense really. 5) Battery; while recording video to the wifi of my phone the battery only lasted a little over 10 minutes, I would imagine it lasts longer if you are not using wifi to your phone and not recording those probably pull a fair amount of power. I recommend buying another battery for sure, they are super easy to pop in and out and not that expensive 6) Overall - I would recommend this drone to anyone who wants to learn or wants to get a decent drone that does not break the bank. I'm surprised how well it works and how easy it is to open up the box and fly in about 10 minutes! I am going to buy more batteries and the charger pack too because flying it is so much fun you wont want to stop. ... show more

  • Start here, master this quadcopter then upgrade to video/racing drones Start here, master this quadcopter then upgrade to video/racing drones
This is a long and honest review, so keep that in mind as you read this. the TL:DR version - Absolutely worth the price if you're looking for a beginner drone. It's a great drone to ensure that you have the dexterity and ability to fly. Its fun, easy to use and you wont find anything better at the price point. Long version: Some background on me, I fly video drones for video projects and racing drones for fun (even though they're technically racing drones I actually do more freestyle flying). To start, I bought this drone because I wanted to find something that I could use for a "kid flight school" and also just have fun at my nearby park without the worry of losing/breaking one of my really expensive drones. I wasnt really sure what to expect since I have bought way too many sub $100 drones and ended up returning them after the 1st flight. Once I opened the box, I was surprised that it looks like a baby version of the Phantom 4, which is not a bad thing. It actually looks good, and I was so happy with all of the extras and spare parts that it brought. One pretty fun surprise was the notebook that came with it, which I have my kid use as a flight log (since a good drone pilot always keeps track of this). Getting started is pretty easy: - Charge the Drone - Read the Manual while the drone is charging - Grab 4 x AA Batteries for the controller - Make sure everything is tightened (which is was but my experience with other drones has been bad) - Once drone is done being charged, press a few buttons and you're ready to fly As an experienced pilot - I flew the drone indoors, and for the most part, it was stable and did what I wanted. I kind of made it into an indoor quarantine game to be honest. I also flew the drone outdoors during a calm day, and it worked as good as a more expensive drone. I also got to use some of the added features, and it actually worked pretty well. However, when the wind started blowing, it was time to land and wait for the calm. The app options also seemed to work surprisingly well, but I'll be honest and say, I did not spend too much time on them. I like to start with the bad: - The Camera quality could be better, its not bad, but its not great. It's good enough for some standard quality stuff, but again, its a sub $100 drone. - Outdoor stability was good as long as the wind is calm, but as soon as there is a strong gust it does sway a bit. This is more than likely because its really light, but its one thing to keep in mind. - Lack of warning beeps or sensors. Since i've been spoiled, these are features that I missed on this drone, but it does make sure that the pilot works on skill. - Radio distance/range - I'd say about 100-150 ft would be the max comfort zone for this drone. - AA batteries for the controller - I get why, and that batteries are cheap, but ugh. Now for the Good: - Quality - its plastic, but it held up really well when my kid crashed it. We brushed off the leaves, and it took off right after. This is a huge deal for us. - Flight time was about 8 minutes per battery, which for the size and charge time is really really good. - I already mentioned that the drone is really light (which kind of sucks with the wind), but it makes it really easy for transport. I basically put it back in the box it came in, then into a backpack and I can ride my bike to the park. - The included hardware - This is actually awesome, and I cant stress this enough. It even included prop protectors, which is extra for the larger more expensive drones. - The app features are actually kind of cool, I think im going to check out what the next model up brings - It was so easy to use, I really didnt even have to read the manual, but im glad I did to learn about the added app features. - PRICE! Seriously for this price, this is the best bang for buck. This drone is not for shooting movies, or racing. This is the perfect drone to master the mechanics of how a quadcopter works! Before you upgrade to the next steps use this drone and get comfortable. We've all heard of someone who lost or crashed a $1K drone, and TRUST ME if you start here, you'll know better! Happy Flying! ... show more

  • Solid entry-level camera drone. Lots of fun to fly, fairly durable. Eventually broke...
The short story: Fun little athletic drone with solid starter features (headless mode, 4 speed settings, one-button landing/takeoff, stunt flips, 720P camera). This is a small, lightweight plastic drone so expect it to sustain damage from hard crashes. Lasted me about 20 flights before it broke (plenty of crashes). Comes with extra replaceable parts (propellers, propeller guards, landing gears). Battery life is solid at this price point (12-15 mins per battery). Camera quality is mediocre (720p), but to be expected at this price. Overall solid value for a beginner's camera drone. This will be my second purchase. ----------------------------------------------------- Full (Looong) review: I am not an experienced drone flier. This was my first quad-copter type of drone. I did own a few toy-grade gyrocopters that were fun to fly indoors, but my wife bought me the HS110D for Christmas back in 2018. I initially only flew it once since I didn't really have time to drive out to open fields/parks to fly it. So then it sat in my closet for 2 years until I recently bought a house with a huge front yard where I can fly it more freely. Flying drones is a fun hobby, so I'm glad I finally get to fly it more often now. Neither I nor my wife knew anything about drones or what features to look for, so she just did an Amazon search for entry-level drones with cameras and chose the HS110D based on reviews. For under $75, this drone is reasonably equipped with specs and features. No it's not GPS enabled, so it can't do cool stuff like follow me or return home, custom waypoints etc, and the video/image quality isn't all that great (720p phone transmission). But once again it's a fully functional camera drone for well under $100. Great value. My biggest complaint is also oddly a strong point for this drone. It's very light and made of plastic that is on the thinner/flimsier side. That means it will be somewhat fragile and susceptible to wind gusts. I actually think it's pretty durable. I crashed this thing many times, including some pretty brutal collisions into trees and asphalt and it surprisingly survived. Until eventually the engines just started cutting out mid-flight to the point where I don't trust it enough to fly it any more. Overall it's reasonably durable for what it is - but don't expect it to last months if it's your first drone, because you WILL crash. It does come with several replacement parts, like propellers and guards, along with landing gears and screws for the propellers. I did break one propeller (on my first time out) and had to replace it, which wasn't all that difficult to do. You just need a tiny sized screw driver. The propeller guards snap off very easily, by design, which can be a bit annoying since they will pop off on minor collisions. But they are super easy to pop back on; much easier than replacing a propeller. One annoying thing about the propeller guards is that due to their open design, they very easily get hooked on tree branches. Once that happens, you will usually need to dislodge it by hitting it with a ball, or if you have a long enough pole to reach it. Knocking an electronic device 30 feet out of a tree with ball that is much heavier than the drone is not a gentle method but sometimes you might not have any other choice. For absolute beginners, I would actually recommend an even cheaper drone than this one (without a camera etc.) and to only fly it in huge open areas like fields or empty parking lots etc. If you fly it near any structures you absolutely will crash it many times as you get the hang of the controls and handling subtleties. Once you've mastered handling and flying headless etc, then upgrade to a camera drone. I learned this the hard way and now I'm buying my 2nd drone after busting the first one. I was considering upgrading to a model with a 4K camera, but then decided I want to continue perfecting my flying skills before buying an even more expensive drone. 720p is not acceptable anymore for video footage. Especially when you have a drone that can capture amazing views from high up - you will want at least a 2K camera. Note that the camera on the HS110D is technically a 1080p camera, but can only transmit 720p video to your phone via Wifi. You will need to pop an SD card into the camera to capture 1080p video. That said, I enjoyed the videos it took, understanding that this is a beginner level camera drone so I can't expect 4K quality. After quite a few crashes the camera transmission to my phone became much too laggy/choppy, so it is not reliable to use it for flying the drone when it's out of sight. I haven't flown the HS110D all that high or far away yet. Maybe as high as 100 feet, and a total distance of 200 feet away from me. I haven't had any issues with it going out of range. The listed max range is 100m, which is not all that far. I'm not sure what would happen if you fly it out of range since it doesn't have GPS or return home functions. The drone does a decent job of hovering, but expect to have to actively correct it often especially in any kind of breeze/wind. Above, say 15mph wind, you will have trouble controlling it especially if you go up higher than 20 feet. You will need to jack up your speed setting to at least 3 (default is 2, max is 4) to combat any wind. In an open area, with no wind, it is quite easy to maneuver and is very responsive to controls. The 3D flips work very well and are easy to do. You just press the top right shoulder button on the control, you will hear a beep, then push the right stick in the direction you want it to flip. On speed setting 4 this thing can really move! I can imagine it being flown very aggressively by an experienced operator. Again, I would reiterate that beginners should fly in a very open area and do some homework on flying tips and techniques. It is quite easy to lose orientation of the drone (the direction which the front of the drone is pointing) when flying it far or high, and once this happens you will lose control and crash...hard. I am still getting the hang of headless mode, which makes this less of an issue and makes it easier to point the drone's camera at the target. Just remember that if you turn your body while flying in headless mode (for example, if the drone flies far to the left or over your head) you will quickly lose orientation and control of the drone and crash...hard. Almost every single one of my crashes has been caused by losing orientation - both in normal and headless modes, so this should be the biggest focus of any beginner. I also highly recommend buying at least two spare batteries and a charging hub that can charge 4 at a time. This is super useful - I can go out and fly for about an hour, come back in and charge all 4 batteries at the same time, then repeat. This is the one I bought, although it seems to be out of stock at the moment: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076J7F599/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The batteries last about 12-15 minutes on average, which is actually pretty good at this price point. They are easy to swap out; just squeeze the plastic handle part and pull it out, then pop a new one in. The only annoying part is that you will sometimes need to re-connect to the drone's wifi since you are powering it off to replace the battery. The controller uses 4 AA batteries, and lasts long before you have to replace them. It's well laid out, with LED indicator lights for speed (1-4), mode (normal/headless), and power. The top left shoulder button controls the camera - press for pictures, hold for video. There are also 'trim' slider buttons on each side. So if the drone tends to drift to the left a bit you can press the trim slider to the right to try to adjust it. I don't know if it's just me, but the trim function doesn't seem to do much. The lower trim button on the left side switches between normal and headless mode. The cell-phone holder grip on the top doesn't feel super secure but I haven't had any issues so far. Overall this is a great entry-level camera drone and a great value at only $65 (with $10 coupon). I will eventually step up to a higher end model with longer flight time, GPS, and 4K camera. But probably only after I feel super confident in my flying skills. I contemplated rating it 5 stars, but it isn't quite sturdy enough. Maybe that's fine at such a low price, but it sucks to have to buy a new one so soon. If you're on the fence, I'd recommend you pick one up and get flying - you'll love it! ... show more

  • Great Value Great Value
The HS110D comes in an attractive shipping box with a carrying handle, but I won't bother to post the photos that I took of it because numerous other customers have already done so. The drone came mostly set up and ready to fly with the landing gear attached and one of the batteries inserted into the drone. Putting on the propeller guards makes the drone unable to fit back into the box, but I always like to do that to keep the propellers protected. After putting 4 AA batteries into the controller and charging the drone battery (which came mostly charged), it was ready for the first flight. I was interested to see that the batteries are charged while they are installed in the drone by plugging the charging cord into the drone itself. I had never seen that before, so after seeing no place on the battery to plug in the charging cable, I had to look at the Owner's Manual, which is quite comprehensive and well-written. The manual recommends using a "5V/2A" USB adapter, which charges the batteries in 2 hours, but I only have a 1 Amp (5V/1A) that came with an old iPhone, and that charges the batteries after they've been fully drained from flying in about 2.5 hours — so an extra 1/2 hour, not too bad. We recently had a bunch of wet snow where I live, and it has been cold since then, so everything is frozen over. I didn't dare fly my new drone outside because if it went down anywhere but right in front of me, I probably wouldn't be able to get it back easily, if at all (see photo). I did, however, fly it inside my house. This drone is more than twice as big as my other drone that I fly around the house, and I found that my house isn't really big enough for the HS110D. I "walk the dog" with the small drone (also from Holy Stone), taking it down hallways and into different rooms, but I don't think I'd be able to do that with this drone because of its size. I did fly it several times in my living room, though, and it performed well. I got 10 minutes of flight time for each battery on speed level 2. There are five speed levels — Low/Medium/High/Expert/Racing — that are very easily selected with "+" and "-" buttons on the controller, and there are handy indicator lights so you always know exactly where it's set. Speaking of lights, the four corner lights on the drone itself are pretty cool. They can be red, white or blue, depending upon what you're doing. I recommend that when you're flying and all four lights start blinking red, which indicates the battery is getting low, that you land it. You only have about 40 seconds of flight time left, and when I tested it one time it landed smoothly on its own as it ran out of power, and one other time it swerved quite a bit as it lost power, which made it crash because it was inside my house without much extra space. That could've been my fault, though, because I'm not sure I held down the "RE-SYNC" button to calibrate the gyro for a full 2 seconds before I started flying. I'll do that from now on! I like that this drone has landing gear. I don't fly my other drone outside if the ground is wet because it would be too easy for moisture to damage the electronics; however, I should be able to fly the HS110D even after a rain as long as I don't land it in tall grass. I'm excited to have a drone with a 1080P HD Camera and 120º Wide Angle, but I'm not going to post video of the inside of my house. ;-) Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would say that this Holy Stone drone is a great value! ... show more

  • Fun, questionable QC but great service
[Updated Review: Feb'23] Holy Stone customer support lives up to their reputation; they were committed to ensuring we had a functional drone: unfortunately it took three drones to get there, but the third is is working and is pretty fun. Please see my original review for details, but after our first drone ascended to the heavens never to be seen again, customer support responded quickly and told me to initiate a return replacement through Amazon. Upon receipt of the replacement drone, I decided to give the unit a test prior to letting my son know it had arrived and I was glad I did: the drone powered on and seemed like it was going to work, but after the gyro sync, the rotors wouldn't start. After trying both batteries, charging, etc., I called support and worked with them for about an hour over two calls. They walked me through several troubleshooting steps, confirming that I was trying to fire it up properly and determined that the batteries must be bad. Given that this was already a replacement drone, they committed to sending me another replacement unit on expedited shipping, which arrived quickly as promised. The third drone was the charm - immediately after receiving it, the drone started up 100% properly and after learning from the first time, I managed to give it a successful maiden voyage in the garage. After confirming everything worked (including down throttle, engine land/stop and emergency stop!), my son fired it up and has been enjoying it since. As my son (and I) have used it more, we have noticed a few things: 1. Twice nice now, the drone has randomly shot up (at an incredible speed) and failed to respond to anything other than emergency stop; luckily this one has responded to emergency stop and after the first experience, my son hasn't hesitated to mash stop the instant he thinks it is freaking out - but it is still alarming when it does this, and it tends to result in a very hard crash landing). 2. Every once in a while, the gyro just won't sync and the rotors won't start (very much like the second unit) - unlike the second unit, we've discovered that it seems to be caused by one of two things: either the battery is low (but not indicating so), or we've not been patient with the startup sequence. If the first condition (low battery w/o an indicator), it's easy to resolve: we charge the battery (or replace it with the other fully charged one) and it works. What I'm referring to as the second condition: the drone seems to be sensitive to too rapid of a startup, is really quite strange. As we've become more comfortable with it, we click click click and fire it up, but sometimes it won't sync the gyro and start the rotors. We've found that if we pull the battery then start it up more slowly, it works. As a result now, our startup procedure includes waiting at least 5-8 seconds between every single step, which seems to be warding off that problem. 3. It's extremely sensitive to wind and temperature: as many other reviewers have remarked, wind much above a perceivable breeze results in it getting muscled around pretty badly. If you crank the speed to the highest setting, it can combat the wind a little, but generally this drone is so light that it appears you need to fly it on a windless day to have any real fun. As is always the case with batteries, but is exemplified by this drone, temperature radically decreases the battery life - due to being in CO during the winter, we've tried flying it below 40 degrees several times and the flight time can be as little as 3-4 minutes. Indoors (our only option right now for 70 degrees), it does seem like the drone flies for about 8 minutes or so. My overall opinion is that for <$80, this will serve its originally intended purpose: to be an inexpensive learner drone. Along with that, it's pretty fun to use and I suspect that once we get out of winter, will be even more fun. As others have said, the camera on it is surprisingly decent, though I'm already seeing why an upgraded drone with a gimbal is likely in our future. The drone is very responsive to the controller (when you get a good one) and as a result, both my son and I are getting progressively better at controlling it with ever flight. It's a shame that it took three tries to get a functional one, but Holy Stone's customer support stood behind the product and now my son (and I) are enjoying it; as long as you're willing to be patient and work with support in the event that you get a faulty unit, as well as understand that this is a very light weight unit that requires fair weather to fly, you should get some decent enjoyment (and flight experience) out of this little drone. [Original Review: Dec'23] My son and I read the manual thoroughly, made sure all batteries were good, confirmed the WiFi connection to my phone was good and were fully prepared for its first flight on a windless day in a large, open field. Upon pairing the controller, syncing the gyro and starting the rotors, everything seemed great. We’d agreed that my son should send it up about 15-20’, confirm basic control and then land it again prior to trying anything more aggressive (he and I are newer to drones, however both of us have flown a mini drone quite successfully, so we aren’t complete noobs). He sent it up, let go of the ascend/descend control and confirmed the drone was responding to the other directional controls. Unfortunately while doing this, the drone kept ascending slowly, so he hit and held descend and nothing happened. He then hit land and same deal: nothing… it just kept climbing. While it was still only about 100’ away and well in video range, we decided to hit the emergency stop even thought it was uncomfortably high; it did not respond. We chased it for a bit, but it just kept slowly climbing and drifting until it was fully out of range. It eventually disappeared out of sight, never to be seen again. I’ve just emailed Holy Stone and will update this review if applicable, but for now, I absolutely can not recommend this drone. ... show more

  • Good Drone! Good Drone!
Overall the drone is a quality buy that works very well, even for beginners. It is a good drone to start with that will work for you. Remote Control The remote control is fairly easy to use. With a button for engine start takeoff becomes easier. As soon as you push the throttle up after engine start, the drone instantly starts. No need to start the engines using the throttle as well. The controls are intuitive and after some time they become very easy to use you are a beginner who is worried about controls. It is also the same button to automatically land, or you can come down manually. The display on the remote control helps show the status, speed, and setting of the drone and removes uncertainty about the settings. The photo and flip buttons are easy to reach. Overall the controller is a good size and structure. I didn't have any problems with loss of signal, and recommend keeping the drone within line of sight. Body The body of the drone is large and solid. The propellers have about a 4in diameter and though the propeller guards may appear to be flimsy they successfully protect the propellers from most crashes. The batteries are modular and don’t involve connectors, you just have to slide and click them into the body. The size and weight mostly resists wind and allows you to fly in fairly windy conditions, but I wouldn’t recommend it to beginners. The camera is attached to the underbelly of the drone and is detachable (no cords). Under the 4 arms, there was each a light, and they are covered by plastic guards. The lights aren’t very bright in the day, so you have to pay attention to tell which way the drone is facing. Aesthetically the drone looks good. Camera The 1080p camera was great at taking photos at a height and low. The photo quality was good, you weren’t able to tell that it was a drone that took them, at least on live view. On taking the photos the image quality depended on the conditions. The front 2 propeller guards came in the top corners of the photo, but the guards is detachable as well, so you can fly without it and take photos like that. The camera is is unadjustable, it points forward, not down. I figured that to take photos at an angle you could use the trim features to change the angle of the drone and keep it that way (it was the 2 switches on the right side of the control next to the left joystick). The video feature in the camera pretty good. In the video I took flying around you could clearly see pictures but there were some spots where the video lagged and the images overlapped, but that was in the edges. Slow movement was the best for video. It could also be based on the phone you were using. The camera has a Micro SD card slot, but I didn’t test this out. There is no card included with the drone. Speed There are 4 speeds, 1 is the slowest and is perfect for flying if you are taking a video and want to be able to see details. 2 is the average plying speed, without much wind you can fly with great control over the drone at 2. The third speed is good for flying moderately windy conditions, the drone can move pretty fast with speed 3. At speed 4 the drone goes very fast and is actually harder to control than at speed 2 or 3. Speed 4 is mostly for heavy wind and to resist the wind. It is easy to lose control of the drone at speed 4. Battery The batteries each last on average 20 minutes each. It depends, of course, on the speed you fly at, but in okay conditions, with both batteries, you can fly about 40 min. The batteries take about 2 hours each to charge, but they can only be charged one at a time. To charge you have to put a battery inside the drone, and then charge through the drone using a micro usb to usb cable. So in total you spend about 4 hours charging, a disadvantage. The App Overall the app is good, you can control the drone using it, view the feed live, and you can view the feed in VR. In the app on android, the drone asks for location permissions, permissions to save to your files, both are for saving the photos, and microphone permissions (for voice control). On iOS it asks for the same, except location permissions, which I assume to be included in one of the other permissions. If you don’t want to enable these you cannot use the app. I tried to use voice control, but mine didn’t work very well. When I trued to use the automatic photo taking feature where you put up 2 fingers (✌️) for a photo or your entire hand (✋) for a video, it didn’t seem to work. I’m not sure if its the lighting or something else. The drawing pad to control the drone didn’t work very well, but I found it unnecessary because you can’t control the drone as well with it. Live feed was slightly delayed from the actual thing, but not majorly. Live feed quality was very good. Other Things The box the drone arrives in is very large You have to pair the remote with the drone by moving the left throttle up and down once. In The Box - 1 Drone - 1 Remote control - 1 battery (attached to drone) - 1 battery (separate) - 4 propellers (attached to drone) - 4 spare propellers - 1 USB to Micro USB cable - 1 manual - 4 propeller guards - 2 landing gear (attached to drone) - 2 spare landing gear - Screwdriver - 2 spare light covers Minor Problems 1. Batteries only charge 1 at a time through the drone 2. Not very portable, large in size 3. Video slightly laggy 4. Image qualities varies form live feed quality at times 5. Live feed is slightly slower than what’s happening in real life. Not majorly though. Otherwise this is a great drone to purchase! ... show more

  • AVOID THIS DRONE
DO NOT RECOMMEND. This is hands down the WORST drone I have ever purchased. Out of the box, I followed the instructions to a tee, setting up the guards, inserting the battery, and giving it a full charge. Once charged, I turned on the drone and the remote following the syncing instructions. It appeared to have synced, but nothing was responding to the remote. I tried several times to both click and press and hold the 'Engine Start & Landing' (ESL) button to spin it up. When that didn't work, I figured I would power both off and back on. The remote was fine, but I was unable to turn off the drone. I pressed it a couple of times, tried a press and hold, waited a few seconds, and tried again. I eventually had to remove the battery entirely. After restarting the whole process, it finally spun up when I hit the ESL button. I then took it for its maiden voyage. The first two attempts, it spun up but wouldn't go above ~2 feet. After powering it on and off again, it finally achieved actual flight but only to immediately do its own thing. I was at a park, and it started to rise, but then it wouldn't stop rising. I watched as it acted on its own accord; it was going off on its own, no matter what I did. Initially, when I saw it going too high, I began feathering the descend stick to no avail. After a couple of light attempts and watching it still climb, I began to panic as if I were a mother watching her child be attacked by a ravenous animal. I went from feathering the button, to rapidly dragging the stick toward 'Descend', to pressing and holding it, and finally hitting the ESL button to try and force a landing. Nothing worked. I watched my drone continue to rise and not follow my stick control. I attempted to 'steer' the drone toward me as if it were in normal mode, which it was, then again as if it were in headless mode to try everything in my power. I watched the camera feed, trying to locate it, only to realize I wasn't watching a live feed at all, but rather it was a static image. This all happened so rapidly within five minutes, the drone had ignored all user input, climbed out of range, and shut off entirely. It's probably in a tree somewhere waiting for the next big windstorm. Honestly, I'm not disappointed to be rid of it. Why would I want an unresponsive drone anyway? I had intended to return it after the first two failed takeoffs, but wanted to give it one more chance. Now I'm out $35, a drone, and some time I won't get back. ... show more

  • This is a GREAT beginners drone, fantastic price, easy to fly, and takes a beating This is a GREAT beginners drone, fantastic price, easy to fly, and takes a beating
For the price of this drone you really cannot get much better, I would call it perfect. First off, taking it out of the box and assembly, you need to attach the rotary guards, don't skip this step, you will break your rotors if you do not. This was the trickiest part, I ended up using a pair of pliers and gently applied even pressure to get the rotary guards in place. Don't push too hard as I imagine this would result in breaking the drone. After that I had the batteries charge while I read through the instructions, which were very straight forward and easy to understand. A few hours later, the batteries were charged and I was ready to fly. I paired the drone to the controller and the video to my phone with no issues. I have had issues in the past with other drones at this point but this went flawlessly. Let's talk about the controller for a second, it is great, it lets you know what's going on with the drone, doesn't feel cheap, I have had some controllers that just feel cheap, this is not one of them. I would recommend you keep the cardboard card that comes on top of the controller initially as it was a handy cheat sheet for what control did what until I got the hang of things. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND you practice flying inside for the first time. You need a room that is big enough to allow you to fly but with this drone being so very light, even the slightest breeze will push it. I was able to get it to take off, and trim it so it hovered almost perfectly still in no time. Then just 5 minutes later I was chasing the kids up the stairs with it. This morning was the first flight outside, I of course wanted to see how high it would go, bad idea, it got caught in a breeze and went sailing through the air, bounced off a tree and then I lost video, since it was close to a 1000 feet down the block. But when I found it, it had safely landed in a back yard. I bounced it off a few more things before the first battery died and it is really resilient, the plastic has just the right amount of give in it to protect the drone and not crack any thing. I really love this drone. I wish the batteries lasted longer, but you won't find anything like this anywhere else. ... show more
